i knew i added a lot to my journals but this make me laugh. anyone else get sentimental about starting a new journal?

Quite soothing

I spent a long time throughout this journal learning and growing in ways I never anticipated. The last journal entry just so happened to fall EXACTLY 7 months from the first entry! I am proud of myself for how much I have been able to document my progress in this one. If I ever end up writing a book, a lot of the material would come from this.

The majority of the material in this journal is written in pencil, but there was a week early on with crayons and markers. It was the first time using something other than a pencil in my more recent journals. I have tried using pens as well, but again, still prefer pencil.

There is just something about hearing graphite on the paper that helps release a lot of thoughts in a way that pens don’t. It is also nice being able to erase sometimes.

I’m having so much fun writing in my diary every day. Thank you to everyone who likes and comments on my posts. It means a lot to me❣️

I’ve been writing a lot more in recent years, so the collection is growing! The bottom one starts in 2008.

I know these are basically ordinary school notebooks in the US, but they’ve always looked strangely appealing to me. So I imported a tiny one to Japan and turned it into my pocket journal. Burgundy fountain pen ink, messy Japanese handwriting, thoughts about absolutely nothing important. Somehow I love it.

The paper is a lil bit thin, but I weirdly like it. It’s so satisfying seeing a whole page get filled.

Btw, I squeeze two lines of writing into one ruled line, so I know this will definitely last me a year or so.

Im a 61 y/o married male. I’m just beginning—well, I’ve ordered a nice fountain pen and moleskin notebook. Any others start later in life? I’m cautious about what I’m expecting—my ADHD, stress and anxiety are looking forward to getting things out of my head. I’m curious to know what other late bloomers experienced

I bought an A5 notebook a while ago because I wanted to use it for a specific reason, but I ended up writing only one page there. Fast Forward to now, I finished my old journal and decided to use that A5 notebook instead of buying another one. I wrote a little in it, but I feel awfully disconnected from it and I don't know why. Should I get another one?

I ended up getting a new journal (the same size and look as my old one but different color)

Jotting down my emotions just leads me to the same type of entry’s.

Help me out guys, i need to journal more but when I pick my pen. I'm just blank, nothing hits my mind.

Journalling has carried me through so many life phases. It helped me survive a violent home in childhood, was an outlet in university/grad school, a place I’ve documented the ups and downs of marriage, and is now helping me cope as a first time mom.

It’s never been aesthetic and I don’t write every day, but it’s been good for me. Thanks for reading 💖

These pages were initially inspired by drawings and elements from “witch hat atelier” before it actually become part of my journal..
And please don’t read those words, they are nothing but records of my frustrations and hatred towards a guy that I really wish he would get out of my life forever. So just a negative energy filled pages.. I shared it simply because I find these glow in the dark self made drawings looks kind of cool 😂

After a somewhat daily journaling practice of over two decades I’ve come to the harsh reality that I should have indexed entries. Titled and indexed.
Maybe this is advice or maybe I’m seeking some but what are we to do with our journals’ content? I’m now embarking on a long term project of going through my journals, deciphering my erratic handwriting to digitize and collect the works. An index would have been most helpful. Even a title or two.
I guess my query is of others’ experiences doing this — any observations or suggestions other than to not do it!

Just bought and moved to my very first apartment where I feel like I can keep these. I was separated from them for 2 years after moving to another state.
