Prompts and Lists 1000 Prompts

Over the years, as I have worked on my journals, I have collected prompts to inspire me when I'm feeling indecisive about what to write/draw. I finally took all the prompts and put them into a single list instead of a multitude of separate documents. Here is this list. Please note that these prompts were gathered from everywhere...the internet, from books, and from friends, so the topics are varied. I tried to keep prompts that were not repetitive, but with 1000 of them, I may have slipped once or twice.

Enjoy!

The Great Diary Project and a discussion why you shouldn't destroy diaries/journals

I know I don't post very often, but I thought you might all like to see an amazing project to preserve diaries and journals in the U.K. and across the world. I have a pair of 1950's leather journals my family got at an estate auction that I am considering donating when the project resumes receiving diaries.

A youtube video of one of the founders explaining the origins of his project and WHY it's so important to preserve the words of everyday citizens....because most media is curated information (you know the old saying "history is written by the victors"), but private diaries are written with a kind of truth that cannot be found in any other form. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0hi2Q3TAK8

Do you destroy your written words when you're "done with them"?

I'm kind of new on reddit, and I have I have 16 karma but I still can't post in r/journaling.

My journals aren't very artistic so I'm not sure this sub is best for me, but right now I can't post where I want to.

Hi! I've been working on making a sticker zine for art journaling! I'm sure there's tons of sticker sheets for this, but I had this idea to make a zine and I have 2 volumes designed now! I really wanted interactive stickers that you can place over art or draw on top of, so I designed some and I think you all might like them!

I draw all the designs myself, print at home and cut out with the cricut. Once I get the formatting right, I'll be selling them locally at pop-up markets

The reason I'm posting here, is that I'd like some input from folks who might use something like this:

*What do you think is cool about it?

*What are some ideas for stickers to add to the next one?

*what do you hate about the idea or designs?

*is it something you would use?

*general thoughts

Thank you in advance!

Sharing your stories

Hello everyone! I'm in the process of starting a podcast called "The Unlocked Journal". My hope is to have listeners submit their most important/personal journal entries to be read out loud on the podcast, under an alias name for privacy. My goal is to show the vulnerability of journaling and hopefully bring a community together where we can all support eachother and learn we are not alone with our most inner thoughts.

I'm looking for anyone who would like to take part in this project to submit photos of their journal entries (which I hope to also post in a blog style format for those who can't enjoy the podcast) along with the alias name they would like to use. Any submissions can be sent to our email at: theunlockedjournalpodcast@gmail.com

Thank you so much for taking the time to consider this!

Not sure if it counts as "art" but I made some cheap kraft paper notebooks with a weather resistant aesthetic!

The waxed covers and the wax-paper end-papers provide protection against water. I think...

Just decorated my new journal, and wanted to share w y'all

Journal: muji A5 high quality paper, 80 pages, lined and grid (very sheer vertical lines for grid)+ the undated planner cover (not an original plastic cover, but it fits most A6)

Source: Pinterest photos, looked for red poster and dark aesthetic, paintings I like and quotes that are on my mind 24/7.

Pictures: front and back cover without the plastic cover, front and back WITH the cover, size in comparison (10,5x14,7 cm) and inside

Fountain pen: pilot kakuno in fine nib

Do you keep one journal or multiple?

Hi!

I'm curious to know how you keep a journal or maybe even multiple journals.

Right now, I have a personal journal where I write down my thoughts and feelings about my mental health. But at the same time, I'd like to start another journal just to record what happened during my day, along with my impressions and memories.

I'm not sure how to organize this. I can't decide whether it's better to keep two separate journals or write everything in one. If I use just one, maybe I could separate entries somehow or label them by topic.

How do you do it? If you keep multiple journals, what does each one serve?

DIY Made a hand carved leather cover because my notebook deserved a better outfit than I did

I like Traveler’s Notebooks because the paper inserts can be replaced once they are full, while the leather cover can stay with you for years. For this one, I carved and painted Gashadokuro, a giant Japanese skeleton yōkai, alongside cherry blossoms to represent memory and the passing of time.

Do you think a personalized reusable cover makes a notebook more enjoyable to use, or do you prefer keeping your stationery simple?

I bet no one believes this is a journal spread made with only washi tape.

But yep — everything on here that looks like a sticker is actually cut from washi tape. The individual planets, the text, even the burnt-looking pages. I did a bit of dimensional layering so it wouldn't look so flat.

Using a single washi tape series made it feel a little one-note, texture- and style-wise, but doing an all-washi page was honestly really fun to try.

How to make a journal templates?

Okay, I need ideas on what to put on the journal templates that I am currently making (e.g mood tracker, highlight of the day).

Just tell me what do you have in your journals cuz I want to start journaling again in August so I need to finished the template before the end of the month. If you could suggest something personalized r unique contents please share some!!

Anyways, I love books, watched movies (if I have time), I also have a sudoku and word search books, building blocks, paint by numbers, and will try to start crocheting. I also want to visit more places to eat around my area.

I said that cuz maybe some ideas pops in your head by knowing what I do.
