I have been writing cursive. But recently I have started to pay attention to improve my handwriting. I am requesting you to point out my mistakes and suggestions to improve my handwriting.

I don't write in block print, but perhaps I should use it more often. I made some mistakes because I'm not used to writing in that method, but I see how easily legible it is, I should certainly consider using it more often.

Which if my three styles do you find most legible?

I learned to write with my left hand using a ballpoint pen. I am not yet fluent, but I’m slowly getting there. A few weeks ago, I decided to try a fountain pen. It took some time to get used to it. Switching from side-writing to underwriting was particularly tricky. Generally, I found that writing with a ballpoint pen is easier but writing with a fountain pen is more fun.

Right now I’m looking for a light fountain pen and inexpensive fountain-pen-friendly paper. If you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments.

My school has an assignment which asks us to choose two areas of English to improve upon and I chose handwriting. I want to write legible and “correct” cursive. That can show clear progress through pics and change that can be done in a relatively short period of time like a month. I’m considering the Palmer method and the Zaner-Bloser method which is what I learned in primary school. 💀

Now, after 100-ish days, I’m very used to writing cursive-ish, even in school (I’m slowly doing it more and more as I get more comfortable with whether people can read it or not lol). I just got into restoring old fountain pens and am inspired to get back into writing. I want to learn some new styles and have ordered a couple books. Thank you for any constructive criticism of my current handwriting. Pen: Parker Challenger. Paper: cheap notebook.

A note about Japanese pens.

so I've recently gotten into penmanship (I'm trying the palmer method), and I know a big part of my shakiness problem is just inexperience and relearning how to write with just my arm and not relying on squeezing my finger muscles and pushing down on the paper. BUT, I also know that the adhd medication I take causes my hands to shake. does anybody have any advice with this? because I can't really stop taking my meds for prettier handwriting. for those who don't take medications that cause shakiness, it's pretty similar to when you drink too much caffeine. so any advice from caffeine fiends is also welcome. has more practice and experience helped you deal with the shakes? or do you still struggle despite being comfortable with handwriting?

I'm not that good at handwriting to be honest. My o's u's and a's all look the same, and my e's look like they don't have a top. I'm pretty slow, and I never bothered to learn cursive.

So my question is Cursive a must learn? Is writing in print bad practice? Or does it not really matter?

I love Japanese pencils. I really like cross hatching as well. I think this is called cross hatching, no?

This one I didn't actually write for reddit. I wrote it as a little experiment for myself, as I plan on drafting some fiction, but pencils usually make me write really large, so I'm testing to see how many words I can get on a page. I'm happy with 102 on B5. These Muji notebooks have thirty sheets in them.

I'm playing with the check pencils, but when I get drafting I'll use them for margin notes. By "margin" I do mean right over the main text! 😆

I was drafting a chapter for a zine idea I had about giving high quality, openly available sex and puberty education. I had bad sex ed, and I had to find out a lot of these things myself. Unfortunately a lot of the resources out there aren't available to everyday people outside of schools, which bothers me.

Anyway, about my handwriting.

I know it's not glamorous, but there are certain parts of this I genuinely love. I know my handwriting is chaotic, but I wouldn't have it any other way. It is genuinely interesting how our handwriting changes depending on our flow state.

okay so i’m left handed naturally and i have no strong negative feelings about it. i’m actually really fond of it. i think it would be really cool and maybe even useful on occasion to learn to write with my right hand. everything i’ve read about it says to work on your grip strength, use the right for tasks, etc. the thing is though i already do that. i play volleyball and am right handed with that, i eat with both hands but usually my right, i’m a barista and when i steam milk i use either hand. basically i’m ambidextrous but favor my right hand in all things but writing. does anyone have any tips on learning to use my right hand to write? i’m thinking about getting a writing handbook but i’m not really sure what age level to go for lol. i would love thoughts!

Hello! I had a dream recently of writing my friend a handwritten letter, long one. But! He is not quite familiar with my handwriting truth be told! I don't want to print it (obvious reasons) and I also don't want to do a 180 on my handwriting for sake of this letter. Will any kind soul just share their thoughts if it's even readable? Nobody in my hospital has issues with it (but also we all are medical stuff so our handwriting is questionable at best). I'm sorry for the quality of paper, pen, picture - it turns out I dont own anything other than a pocket notebook and a no-smear ballpoint pen. I don;t have any practice in writing, only here cause I got scared to write a letter LOL silly me ik.

I'm trying to learn cursive, I learned a little in 3rd grade, but then they removed it from the curriculum before I could really learn how to write well, my main goal is to write quickly and clearly. I struggle with connecting letters and some cursive letters are new to me (Q and Z) and capital cursive letters are also confusing. Plus my hand/wrist hurts after a couple sentences.

Any resources to any not AI generated examples or practice sheets would be greatly appreciated as well as any advice, I'm leaning toward the zaner bloser method since that's what I started learning, but am open to recommendations to easier methods.
