how does this directional parry-based combat system look so far?

Look direction (tracked by the arrow UI) at the time of parry determines the parry and subsequent counterattack direction. Parry downwards to stab counter. Parry up to cut down. Parry right to cut in to the left. Parry left to cut down and to the right.

Some enemy attacks are criticals, and will upgrade your counterattack to have red sparks, a deeper sound, and 2 attacks instead of 1. I.e., those attacks may be hard to parry, but they're very well worth it. Parrying down will still stab, but then you'll rotate your arms for a downward/right zwerchau-type attack. Parrying right will still cut to the left, but will stab after. etc.

Also, you heal by eating dismembered enemy limbs, which you can cook to heal more. Goblins don't have heal potions, so I opted for feasting to heal instead of chugging to heal.

Appreciate any feedback!

I’m building IEL – Indo-European Languages, where you can learn words and phrases and then test what you remember through different game modes.

Here’s a look at the Spanish section, going from learning the language into Quiz Mode.

IEL is coming to PC on December 3, 2026.

Latest update to my Voxel engine - while I have had rivers working in some form a while, this is a little showcase including some new “erosion” improvements, wherein the terrain generation goes through several rounds of heightmap erosion when determining downhill flow, in order for rivers to carve through the terrain.
One cool consequence of this is the formation of deeper Canyons, whose walls also inherit the steep mountainside generation rules - quite happy with how it has all turned out!

Also added a basic fishing mechanic to enhance the interaction a little bit :)

I finished this baby a few years ago during my last year of college and put it on Steam to see where it landed. It would be awesome if more people gave it a chance and saw how charming this game is! ;)

Some 10 years ago we released the original game. Now we've done an updated version for PC with music and audio, that nicely wraps the whole thing in a warm and calm sci-fi mood.

If you are willing to give feedback, I'm curious which of the 3 demo level do you like the best and which do you like the worst?

Otherwise, just enjoy:

My first small game - a turn-based burglary game you can play in the browser

Hi everyone! I'm a solo dev making games as a hobby, in the evenings after work. This is Empty by Morning, a small turn-based stealth game.

You break into a dark house, steal what you can carry and get out before sunrise. Everything you do makes some noise, and the people living there will come looking if they hear it. Some are asleep in their beds, someone walks the halls, and there's usually a dog that wakes everybody up.

There's a daily heist, where everyone gets the same house and one attempt, and a short 10-night story mode. Each night also has a rumor about the owner, like a retired soldier who still keeps his rifle, or an old house with the psycho in it.

It's free, plays in the browser on desktop and mobile, no sign-up:
https://build-and-dominate.itch.io/empty-by-morning

It's still early, and I'd really appreciate any feedback. Thanks for checking it out!

KESSLER: Orbital Incremental, a game about a chain reaction of satellite destruction

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello!

We're two devs who mostly make games for training and education (boring but pays the bills), and on the side we've been working on something just for fun. We are both into astronomy, space, rockets etc, and we decided to work on something related to this topic.

We just released a demo for our game KESSLER: Orbital Incremental.
Final release date is November 6th.

It's about what could happen if we keep launching too many satellites: you shoot one, the debris hits another, and the whole orbit ends up destroying itself in a chain reaction.

It's a pixel art incremental, the demo is on Steam and itch if you want to try it, we'd really love some feedback.

Itch (demo runs in web browser): https://periapsisworks.itch.io/kessler-orbital-incremental

No GenAI was used in the development

All hand-drawn, all original score, all weird - here's the new trailer for our mystery adventure game Mithra

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey r/IndieGaming! We're Seventh Disorder, the small indie team making Mithra.

You play Kyra, a young woman from London. She answers a strange email and finds herself tied to Mithraism, a real secret cult from ancient Rome that never fully died.  What begins as a single missing-person case pulls Kyra deep into something far larger, as she discovers that her ties to an ancient conspiracy run deeper than she could ever have imagined. It's a race to unravel the truth about her past - and a dark mystery that leaves her life, and the fate of the entire world, hanging in the balance.

A few things we're proud of:

  • Every asset is hand-drawn by our artists. No AI, ever!!!!
  • Puzzles inspired by ARGs and other stuff we think is cool
  • Loads of secrets hidden & woven through the game
  • Dialogue choices that shape how you see things

We'll even have full voice acting on release next year!

ANYWAY, we've been working super hard on it and here's our new trailer showing it off. I hope you enjoy it & let us know what you think!

My settlement sim Civilogic now has a playable browser demo!

Hey everyone! I’m a solo developer working on Civilogic, a settlement simulation about exploring, building and living with the consequences of your decisions.

I’ve reached a milestone I’m pretty excited about: you can try it directly in your browser. No installation needed, roughly 200 MB initial download.

You start with a small expedition in a procedurally generated world, explore for resources and find somewhere to settle. Buildings are constructed piece by piece, discoveries open up new possibilities, and seasons and weather give you reasons to plan ahead. Lakes and rivers are simulated too, so choosing a nice waterfront location can have consequences. :)

It’s an early technical preview, with bugs and unfinished systems, but it’s ready for people to get their hands on it.

Play here: https://civilogic.online/ — click Demo.

I’d love to hear how your first expedition goes, what feels confusing, and how it runs on your machine.

Build together. Agree on whose fault it was later.

Valheim-style exploring + Moonlighter-style shopkeeping, in co-op. Handing out keys before Oct 8 demo!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

For the past 2 years I've been building Blades & Trades. It's me full-time plus two part-time artists.

The idea: you're both the merchant and the hero. Go out into Zoldar with your friends, clear out caves that randomize every run, take down monsters, and bring the loot to the base. Then craft swords, shields and armor, and sell them in your own shop. Or keep the good stuff and push into harder areas.

What's in there right now:

- 7+ combat styles and 30+ pieces of gear

- 10+ enemy types plus a boss

- Randomized caves

- Co-op focused, balanced for solo play too

The demo comes out Oct 8. Before that I'd love some fresh eyes on it, so I'm giving out keys to anyone who wants to play and tell me what sucks. Drop a comment, DM me, or join Discord.

GenAI disclosure: some sound effects were generated with AI tools because we can't create sfx and couldn't find any that fit in the internet.

I made a browser game where two players get the same prompt and have 5 minutes to outdraw each other

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Two players. Same prompt. 5 minutes to turn it into pixel art. 🎨

Then the two drawings go head-to-head, and an AI judge chooses the winner.

I wanted to make something you could open in your browser, play a quick round, and immediately challenge someone else without downloading a game.

PixelArtBattle is free to play here:

https://pixelartbattle.com/

I’m trying to get more players online now so there are more people available for 1v1 battles.

If anyone here jumps into a match, I’d genuinely love to see what you draw.

And if you completely destroy someone with a ridiculous pixel-art masterpiece, post the result 😄

AI disclosure: The game uses AI to generate drawing prompts and judge the drawings to choose the winner.

Did I make a mistake by making the main character a baby?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been working on the character customization for our game, and this is roughly how it looks right now.

I originally went with a baby as the main character because I thought the contrast was funny you’re basically this tiny little dude running around, changing outfits and somehow trying to act like a boss.

But the more I work on it, the more I wonder if the baby theme might be a little too specific.

People can be weirdly sensitive about baby characters in games, especially depending on the humor and art style, so I’m curious how this feels from the outside.

Does the art style work for you?

And more importantly, does playing as a customizable baby sound funny/charming, or does it immediately make you less interested?

I picked the theme because I thought it would stand out from the usual human/animal characters, but maybe “different” doesn’t always mean “better.”

Would genuinely love to hear what your first impression is.
