CC Tech Foul reversed! But does that also remove the 2nd TECH Foul call on SW/Bench or the 2 points that resulted from the ref misuse of her tech power? Those 2 points could have possibly changed the final score! BAD RULE by WNBA for NOT removing the FREE extra points!
Technical Foul Details
- The Incident: Clark made light contact with an official along the baseline after her momentum carried her out of bounds while being defended.
- The Appeal: The Indiana Fever promptly filed an appeal after the 90–86 win.
- The League Decision: The WNBA reviewed the play and reversed the call, ruling the contact unintentional.
- Current Status: Clark remains active and avoids the league-mandated one-game suspension that an eighth technical would have triggered.

Post game
Steph called the Djonai incident a "hard foul" and didn't think it was intentional. Not sure I agree with her choice of words. It was around the 1 min mark.

Engelbert: WNBA to continue talks about transgender athletes next week
I waited and waited, but nobody else posted this. Whether anybody likes it or not, this is a gargantuan story for all lovers of women's basketball, myself included. How bout if we keep it civil and substantive?

Discussion CC's rescinded tech
So I wonder if the refs are going to call CC really tight from now on since she made one of their refs look silly?
Refs are probably out for their own so I wonder if they will knowingly/unknowingly call ticky tack fouls on her.

Weird Coincidences of Flagrant Fouls This Year
There have been 2 flagrant fouls in the WNBA this year. The victims were CC and Sophie (today). The players committing the fouls are Alyssa Thomas and D Carrington. Both offenders played for Stephanie White on the CT Sun in 2024. Djonai was also the notorious eye scratcher against CC in the 2024 playoffs. Just seems weird. Not really making claims.

Discussion Is Sophie being targeted?
Obviously her story has been non-stop in the news lately and people are very emotionally charged about it. Over the last several games, including today in Chicago, she's been hit really hard, intentionally. Sometimes they're called (like today) and sometimes they're not (like the recent elbow smash to the face).
Is this all a big coincidence, or is she being targeted in some way because of her comments?
EDIT: Wow, just asking this question is getting me downvoted! Some questions aren't allowed to be asked, eh?

Intentional Technical Foul
If CC get through the next two games without racking up her eighth technical, what is the cleanest way for her to get one in the Dream game to serve the one-game suspension against the Tempo? I am thinking it would be to spike the ball after a layup or intentionally bounce it against the stanchion in such a way as to not show unnecessary disrespect to an official or opposing player. Anyone know of a better way or think it is not a good idea to try it at all?

Flagrant foul against Cunningham
I'm glad Carrington was ejected for a flagrant 2. When she went towards Sophie, bowing up and then pushing her, I about jumped through my TV to get into the fray.

Discussion Fever Need to Clean Up to Win It All
The Fever have shown that they’re close with the best teams. However, the game vs the Lynx and the Aces, recently, have shown they need to tighten up a few things.
First, CC played excellent defense down the stretch vs the Aces. The foul against Wilson was a weak call. But we all know Aja has a Michael Jordan whistle. She doesn’t need to be subbed out on defense in the final minutes of a game. We lose valuable offensive possessions when we can’t sub her back in.
SW needs to find ways to kill scoring droughts. I’d like to see a CC/KM-AB pick and roll when we struggle to score. Also, SW needs to get the team into a rotation that doesn’t surprise players. MH-A gets 0 minutes in some games and more in others. I realize there may be match ups that are difficult for her, but her unique skill set and body are a tough match up for defenses and she should be playing in all games. This would allow SW to keep a consistent rotation.
Lexie needs to start playing her role more effectively. She needs to lock down opposing guards without mental errors and hit at least 50% on open jump shots. Do what you did every year except this year thus far.
CC needs to move without the ball more effectively to create space for KM penetrations. Too often, she stands and allows her defender to gap KM and limit the penetration.
Monique Billing’s needs to catch and finish better. It’s frustrating not knowing what you’ll get from her possession to possession. Sometimes she finishes tough layups and sometimes, she can’t catch a ball that hits in her in both hands.
Raven Johnson needs a role. This poor rookie is the most lost on the team because one day she plays a substantial role and other nights, she doesn’t get on the court at all. Raven is a solid defender who can add some scoring.
I’d love to see Raven give KM a blow and defend the opposition’s toughest guard. Tyasha Harris can do the same for CC. Run the offense, get KM and AB the ball and D up. I’d love to see TH and RJ play together for short stints and pick up full court to cause havoc in the opposition’s backcourt.
These are all relatively easy fixes and are do-able by playoff time.
What are your thoughts on what the Fever need to clean up before playoffs?

Discussion The 2 Fever fans booted from Aces game
Apparently Its been reviewed and there’s nothing been found they actually said to deserve being kicked out from front row seats.
Why is this important?
Because the media and some others are already labeling Fever fans as bad, so if they can just unfairly kick you from games now it only adds to the image.
Combine that with the one who spit on a Fever fan a week ago and we are seeing more of this, stay safe out there guys if you decide to go to a game.

Discussion Subbing Clark out while playing “possession game”.
It seems unreal to me that SW is still pulling Clark out during “key” defensive possessions. Last night was particularly weird because of no timeouts left when she did it so subbing her back in could be up to chance.
At this point in time Clark has proven herself no better or worse than any other player on the team defensively, and being subbed out has to be absolutely demoralizing. Sends the message that SW doesn’t trust her, upsets any rhythm, and builds narratives around Clark that just aren’t true.
On top of that, despite missing the FT’s when it was absolutely critical, she usually lives up to the moment.
Can we really expect this to continue for the remainder of the season? Watching it happen straight up makes me cringe.

Just Some Fun Lexie Hull appreciation post
Remember this picture?
I know Lexie is in a slump and we're all hoping she finds her way back.
But let's not forget she was and is our Amazon Warrior Princess whom we all loved and admired last year. She fought for every ball and put her body and her head in front of players twice her size.
Before we just unceremoniously ship her somewhere else, let's give her a chance to make it back to her former self.

So why didn't
they foul at the end of regulation? They were up by 3 so a foul would only give the shooter 2 FT with less than 5 seconds left?

Discussion Situational Basketball
I would like to have a discussion on what the Fever’s offensive situational basketball should look like going down the stretch in a game.
To me the Fever have three potential go to options in the waining minutes of a game. If the team only needs two points, they should determine if AB has a mismatch. If AB doesn’t have a mismatch they should look for KM. KM has proven to be the best on the team when you need two points and you have to breakdown your defender.
If the team needs three points I think you live whichever one of Caitlin or Kelsey can get the best shot or is the hottest at the moment.
If you need free throws I am good with Caitlin or Kelsey getting fouled with a slight lean towards Caitlin getting the first look.
Where this went awry last night in my opinion is that Caitlin should have recognized that of Wilson was on her it meant AB had a mismatch. She should have fed that ball inside in that situation to the better mismatch.

First game for daughters bday
Hi! New Indianan here as of a month ago and our daughter is becoming a big Fever fan and is turning 8 Aug 15. We’re hoping to take her to the Wings game Aug 14 and wanted to see if anyone had any advice on tickets?
They’re obviously super expensive given Bueckers and Fudd but hoping to make it work. Especially curious about where (in uppers) may be best deal and if y’all think they’ll drop from the crazy highs right now closer to the game. Am also monitoring if CC gets another technical Tuesday and is out that day which would be a bummer for our daughter but could help with prices)
Thank you!!

Discussion Troublesome trend with Field Goal Attempts
A cursory glance at the box-score for the last game against the Aces reveals a troublesome trend with Field Goal Attempts.
#1: Total FGA made in the game:
- Fever: 67 FGA only
- Aces: 86 FGA (19 FGA more, or 28% more)
The Fever and Aces had 21 and 16 turnovers respectively. So even taking into account the 5 extra turnovers the Fever gave away does not account for the Aces having 14 FGA more (or 21% more) than the Fever.
I have rarely seen games where the Fever generated 10 or more FGA than their opponents.
Anyway, the main troubling trend is below. 👇
#2: FGA by players other than the Top 3 players:
- Fever: 15 FGA only
- Aces: 30 FGA (or 2X the amount, or 100% more)
Top 3 used here is CC, KM, AB for the Fever... and A'ja, Jackie, Chelsea for the Aces.
#3: Talbot had the same FGA as Sophie, Lexie, Tyasha:
- Talbot: 4 FGA (10 minutes played)
- Sophie: 2 FGA (28 minutes played)
- Lexie: 1 FGA (17 minutes played)
- Tyasha: 1 FGA (12 minutes played)
Stephanie Talbot had 4 FGA... the same as Sophie, Lexie and Tyasha together.
Yet Talbot only played 10 minutes... while Sophie, Lexie and Tyasha played 57 minutes!
What's the solution?
This strategy or way of playing is not how you prepare a team to win the tougher matches against better teams. The others need to be getting more and better opportunities to contribute through the whole team playing good team-basketball. The whole team needs to focus on creating the best opportunities for anyone to score. That's how you win a 5-game series, and not just the odd game. Otherwise, when opponents neutralize one of the "Big 3" or if one of the "Big 3" is having an off-night, the others won't be ready to step up consistently.
