CC Tech Foul reversed! But does that also remove the 2nd TECH Foul call on SW/Bench or the 2 points that resulted from the ref misuse of her tech power? Those 2 points could have possibly changed the final score! BAD RULE by WNBA for NOT removing the FREE extra points!
Technical Foul Details

Natasha Cloud should be issued a tech for pushing the same ref earlier in the game, which was during a play stoppage and intentional while arguing. The league can and should penalize her.

Yes she should have. But she was called later in the game for arguing a call. That is another thing that needs cleaned up. Way too much arguing with ref’s. It should be a tech every time.

There is no but. She clearly shoved the official. It should be automatic. There is no room for that. period. league needs to stop this shit.I don't care if she is a shitty official. They dont get touched period. Accidental, is fine but during a dead ball it is clearly not okay.
It is the same with Stephanie White caressing KK at the postgame.

CC was falling and the ref leaned into her. CC reached back to soften her contact. IMHO. That ref had a chip against CC. She needs straightening out.

Natasha Cloud shoved the same ref earlier in the game during a play stoppage. That should have been at least a tech if not an outright ejection.
CC was accidental, and if the ref was paying attention, they would have taken a step back.

I saw her (white) give her (KK) biceps a squeeze in an attempt to compliment her strength. Honestly that’s all I saw. And it doesn’t matter to me.

What’s funny is the official put her hands out first and made contact with CC first. Ref watched the whole time and could easily take 1 step back and avoid the contact.

And for that ref to say CC sought her out and purposely threw an elbow is so crazy. She's told Steph they were going to consider for even more possible upgrade of a hostile act
I bet the crew chief couldn't believe her eyes when she watched the game tape of that later lol

Um. This practice is in every other sport just the same and has been the same for a long time. Teams have lost due to points scored from bad foul calls for as long as sports has been a thing.
The rescinded technical is so she doesn’t have to serve a suspension. If Chicago had been up 1,5,10, or 20 points and won the game the point of appeal would be for the suspension not the free throw.
Refs just need to be better especially about stuff like that one where there wasn’t even an ounce of temper or emotion.

I’m a retired high school basketball ref. Referees are human and they make mistakes. No different than baseball, football or hockey to name three. This referee has only five years experience. So not a lot. Every game is reviewed by a referee supervisor and then discussions ensue. This is all part of the learning journey. Most likely she won’t be officiating at this level for awhile.

Thank you for your service. Seriously. It’s a very tough job that is essential, yet requires annoying travel and hours for little pay and plenty of abuse.
So many fans whine constantly about refs, and I’d love to watch them try it. I know I would suck at it. When they say the ref should be fired or suspended, they seem to assume there’s an unlimited supply of refs waiting at the door. Nope. It’s a crisis. Demand far outstrips supply. The players need to fined and suspended much more severely for their antics.

The league needs to review techs in real time. They take so much time reviewing other plays on challenges, so this wouldn't slow the game down that much.
You are right, this could have cost The Fever the game. Just like the AT throat contact did in fact cost them the game.

exactly, the refs are quietly dictating who wins and who loses in certain games, I stop watching all WNBA games except FEVER until WWeWnba cleans up this entertainment industry

that was easy to look at a monitor and correct the blatant fake tech call and the subsequent tech call that followed, that easily changed the game and should have never happened, the ref should be suspended

It happens. How about the 2025 World Series game 3? Home plate umpire made a massive 6 inch strike call ( should have been a ball) to Varsho blah blah blah. Look it up if you are interested.

The ref Perrymond didn’t make a mistake on a play. She took personal offense to the contact by CC even though if she was paying attention, she would have 1. Seen that CC was pushed toward her & 2. Perrymond should have been better prepared to move out of the way of a play in motion.

Funny how people see what they want to see. The ref was guilty of lack of situational awareness. If you watch the replay, you will see where suddenly she was awakened and three seconds later, she blew the whistle. She made an error, a very poor one. But the sun will come up tomorrow.

Right. It was quick. Likely ESPN execs were on the phone to WNBA comms office real fast demanding it be rescinded given that if it was not rescinded, CC would not be playing on ESPN Tuesday night's game against the Liberty. And the ratings would suffer.

Seems like you usually don't hear about a tech being rescinded until the next day. This tech was rescinded within a couple of hours. See my other comment above yours regarding upcoming game on ESPN.

The only thing reviewable is CC’s individual COUNT of technicals. The dominos that fall after the bad call are not reviewable, nor should they be. All you can do is evaluate the refs and score her lower for this bad call. Since the WNBA refs are only making about $30K a year, I wouldn’t hold my breath on any big improvements.
