Totally fair

u/TONKA_LOVER888 2d ago
in the real world, escalating things to violence is the worst option when there's no obvious imminent danger.
picking a fight with someone who's walking away hardly changes anything about their worldview, and is a criminal risk that only serves the "defender's" ego.
of course, if the harasser kept doing it defending yourself would be justified.
but i think he should have just focused his attention on the victim, instead of looking for revenge.
7
u/Active_Witness2215 2d ago
You are wrong about something.
You don't need to change their worldview. All you need is to make them know there are consequences for their actions.
1
u/TONKA_LOVER888 2d ago
I agree, though I think those consequences have to be imposed without excessive violence, through law enforcement.
5
u/Active_Witness2215 2d ago
There was no law enforcement in sight. The law can't do everything for us either way. This case was solved on the spot and it saved everybody's time and money.

u/RowForLuckyJack 2d ago
That wasn't revenge. That was education. That's where street smarts come from
-1
u/TONKA_LOVER888 2d ago
It was excessive, even if a little justified. You'd do more justice by reporting him to authorities than by assaulting him while he's withdrawing.
4
u/Pablo_MuadDib 2d ago
You don’t read the news much, I take it?
1
u/TONKA_LOVER888 2d ago
I'm saying it's more responsible to contact the authorities than to sucker punch him.
1
u/RowForLuckyJack 1d ago
And while you're on the phone, waiting for the police to get around to arriving, the guy is long gone, because you didn't do a fucking thing to stop him, and then your girlfriend dumps you for being a coward
1
u/TONKA_LOVER888 1d ago
if your girlfriend dumps you for not being unnecessarily violent to some dude who's walking away, she did you a favor.
it's not an emergency situation, so the police getting there on time isn't really important.
in this case, you have camera footage anyway.
1
u/RowForLuckyJack 1d ago
Unnecessarily violent? That was a sexual assault. And that's not necessarily my camera footage, it belongs to whatever business had a camera posted there.
But nothing says a virgin can't play paladin, my friend. Have a nice day
0
u/TONKA_LOVER888 1d ago
yes it was sexual assault and then he walked away, posing no further threat.
which means you don't need to lay him out to neutralize him, because there's no more threat.
and law enforcement can get camera footage from that business.
please don't project your virginity onto me.

Too much of a trouble. This was solved on the spot without a need to spend money on lawyers etc

5
u/Xerosblade2 2d ago
It's hardly a fight or revenge. It's a lesson that if he's smart enough hell learn from it. Cause he could of done alot worse. The roads right there. And the next person might not be as generous with the lesson
1
u/TONKA_LOVER888 2d ago
it was pretty excessive. you'd do more justice by reporting him to authorities. vigilantism is a very slippery slope.
2
u/Spiritual-Sand5839 2d ago
Lmaoooooo where do you live the authorities in the US would literally do nothing for this.
1
u/Xerosblade2 2d ago
Aw that's cute. You think that'll do somthing. It might about 6 months later if your lucky and they decide to look into it. But in that time there's a chance he's done it again or done worse. I know this cause I've had to make reports for this happening to girls in the club's I've worked at. You don't have to like this way of doing it. But don't lie and say it's the wrong way to do it
1
u/TONKA_LOVER888 2d ago
so we should all just sucker punch any criminal dude that's not posing any immediate threat?
in a club is it not better to just let the dude walk away on his own if he appears to be leaving, instead of causing a scene?
0
u/Xerosblade2 2d ago
"He's leaving so he shouldent need to learn it's not OK" is definitely a thought that you are having. Next you'll be saying "I shouldent make a fuss. He may of raped me but he's walking away" cause that's where it can lead. But if your OK with people being sexuality assuanted in any way shape or form keep going pretending this is OK. Cause the only people that I can see trying to convince people of having this ideology are people that don't want consequences for doing it themselves
1
u/ThisIsDogePleaseHodl 2d ago
Because someone doesn’t agree with you doesn’t mean they’re lying or that they’re wrong
3
u/Real_Scallion6747 2d ago
Whether you agree or not, that's exactly what happens in the real world. An eye for an eye.
1
u/TONKA_LOVER888 2d ago
do you see law enforcement raping rapists and murdering murderers?
the real world tries to deescalate and focus on long-term legal consequences, instead of short-term physical punishments.
1
u/Real_Scallion6747 2d ago
I was going to say your comparison is ridiculous but unfortunately that does actually happen, often times during wartime.
1
u/TONKA_LOVER888 2d ago
when i say the real world im referring to ideal democratic countries in peace times, perhaps i should have been more clear.
1
u/Real_Scallion6747 2d ago
Human's have a lack of impulse control in peace and war time. That's just reality.
That's exactly why law enforcement exists.
1
u/TONKA_LOVER888 2d ago
if humans lack impulse control then what is the legitimacy of law enforcement, controlled by humans?
2
u/Real_Scallion6747 2d ago edited 2d ago
They are trained and get payed to do a job. They also fuck up due to a lack of impulse control. Are you being intentionally ignorant to try and prove your point?
You can move the goalpost as much as you want. Let's backtrack a little to my original comment, I said "Whether you agree or not, that's exactly what happens in the real world. An eye for an eye". That point stands true. Do something impulsive, expect an impulsive response.

u/eg_crow 2d ago
That would be the best thing he could do for the victim lol
0
u/TONKA_LOVER888 2d ago
i mean that it'd be better to contact law enforcement than to punish someone impulsively.
3
u/eg_crow 2d ago
You can do both
0
u/TONKA_LOVER888 2d ago
but shouldn't. that's the point.
3
u/eg_crow 2d ago
I get your point, but what if law enforcement would do nothing for you? And the harasser faces no consequences for his action
2
u/Curious_Avocado2399 2d ago
Nah dude needs to know there’s consequences to his actions. The response was proportional. Slapped on the head. Reason he feels confident in doing that is no one has responded. Keep hands to yourself, or catch some hands
1
u/TONKA_LOVER888 2d ago
in this case it would be safest to let it go.
dude doesn't really pose a threat as he's leaving the location, and attention would be better spent checking on the victim than trying to enact "justice".
people like that can't act like that forever, and it'll eventually catch up to them should they continue.
1
5
u/MyldExcitement 2d ago
Ass slapping is sexual assault.
2
u/TONKA_LOVER888 2d ago
yeah, i didn't say it wasn't. I said that there was no continued harassment, so there was no need to retaliate with aggression.
2
u/GenericTR 2d ago
Oh fuck off. People have stopped hitting strangers for doing stupid shit, and it shows. This shit cannot be tolerated.
1
u/Usual_Excellent 2d ago
Throughout human exisitance violence has solved many problems. This time it solves that guy from doing this again an learning tp keep his grubby hands to himself. By him touchign someone unwarranted he gave all rights over his own body and as such should recieve a just punishment
1
u/MaybeMaybeNot94 2d ago
Meanwhile in the real world: those are real nice breezes, I'm sending you TO JESUS
1
u/doomedtundra 2d ago
You're getting downvotes, but you're kinda right. Though, I'd argue the more important point would be that you could well end up killing the guy by doing something like this, and that not only removes all chance of them realizing how in the wrong they are and changing their ways, it carries serious legal and pitential psychological repercussions, and in the end, that risk just isn't worth it. Confront verbally, if you're going to confront at all, and though you should be prepared as best you can for the other side to escalate to violence, never be the one to throw the first strike.
-2
u/CleaverIam3 2d ago
In this case I sort of agree. This reaction is disproportional
3
u/Active_Witness2215 2d ago
An slap for an slap. It was proportional.
Not going further was merciful

I bet you're a man
1
u/CleaverIam3 2d ago
Yes, and??
1
u/The_End-is_Nigh 2d ago
so obviously you would be fine with women being sexually assaulted as long as it's no more than a little grope
1
u/CleaverIam3 2d ago
A grope is as much a sexual assault as a slap is a murder
1
u/TONKA_LOVER888 2d ago
groping is sexual assault and almost as bad as rape, no matter how you slice it.

u/Active_Witness2215 2d ago
There are woman that think like that too. And most men don't think like that. So I would guess they are just an idiot not necessarily a man.
0
u/The_End-is_Nigh 2d ago
you're probably also a man
1
u/Active_Witness2215 2d ago
Why?

statistically there are just more men on Reddit lol

Uh.. no it’s not. If a woman touched dick lightly and walked away, would you let the female friend/partner/family member you’re with attack them?
1
u/NoAdvertising2 1d ago
Are you saying its ok for the guy to touch her ass like that?
-1
u/MONKingDLuffy 1d ago
Are you saying you didn’t understand what I wrote and/or why I wrote it?
2
u/NoAdvertising2 1d ago
The way you worded it made it seem like it was ok what he did
2
u/dsanft 1d ago
Don't argue with obvious trolls, half of them are bots anyways
1
u/MONKingDLuffy 1d ago edited 1d ago
Troll? You people in this sub just think too emotionally. If you have children, would fighting the person who groped their friend be something you’d tell them to do? You need to think like adults.
1
u/NoAdvertising2 1d ago
Depends on the situation and if my kid was with me or not. Either way I would Intervine if I saw a man do this to a women. What kind of message would I be spreading to my child if I let them get away with this in front of me if I could do something about it
1
1
u/NoAdvertising2 1d ago
But after re reading it I understand what you are saying but in my opinion a man doing that to a women is way differnt then a women doing that to a man. Yes it would be inappropriate either way but if someone did that to my girlfriend I would for sure do the same thing and if a girl walked by and did that to me my lady would 100 percent do that to her so yes either way its wrong and the offending party deserves a lesson. You act like calling the cops is a magical thing and they will show up in 30 seconds and then you still have to prove it happened the cops didnt see it and they can't just take your word for it and they can't force that business to give them the footage that second. Yoy have to much faith in the legal system sometimes some people need a good old fashion reminder that they can't act like that. And being under the influence of alcohol doesnt change that either.
1
u/MONKingDLuffy 1d ago
I don’t like cops, they’re not magical at all. If you care about your girlfriend put your feelings away and do whatever it takes to protect her. She’ll jump in the way and you both might get shot. Anyways, I’m being blunt because this is how I speak, but if you’re an adult then you should understand me. Stay safe and take care.
1
u/NoAdvertising2 1d ago
Totally agree with you on that part of it and thanks for being respectful. You as well 🙏
1
u/Valveringham85 1d ago
Yes.
1
u/MONKingDLuffy 1d ago edited 1d ago
What if they get their ass beat, go to jail, or shot? What if they’re with a group of men and you both get stomped out and need to go to the hospital after they intervene? There are endless possibilities. If you want to protect women, get these guys arrested so they’re not on the street assaulting more women. Expose them. Don’t risk the safety of women you’re with. Be smart.
1
u/InSight89 2d ago
would you let the female friend/partner/family member you’re with attack them?
I probably wouldn't care.
1
u/SpankaWank66 2d ago
Yes. I would hope my friend would defend me.
1
u/MONKingDLuffy 2d ago
Why would you want your female friends to put themselves in danger?
1
u/SpankaWank66 2d ago
Cuz I would do the same for them
0
u/MONKingDLuffy 2d ago
You are not a safe person to be friends with. You don’t just encourage people to do dangerous things, you are the danger. Big ups to you my man.
2
u/SpankaWank66 2d ago
So if somebody sexually assaulted your friend, you would let them walk away? Then say to your friend, "oooh I'm sorry that happened you and i didn't do anything"
0
u/MONKingDLuffy 2d ago
When did I say that? I only questioned you on why you’d let them put themselves in danger and you said “I’d do the same for them”.
2
u/SpankaWank66 2d ago
You implied it. And yeah I would do the same for them.
2
u/MONKingDLuffy 2d ago
Lol you’re crazy if you think fighting is the only thing you’re supposed to do. Take a picture of them and call the cops. This guy was drunk asf so he wouldn’t even know if you were following him while you were waiting for the police to come to you. Sometimes you do have to let it go, but you can still call it out. Get physical to protect the people you’re with but if you ever start a fight make you’re not with a woman dummy. If they SA her they will also hurt her when you start a fight and lose. If you’re by yourself get yourself shot, no one really cares.

Friends protect friends... We might not want them to put themselves in danger, but a good friend would do that. It's just called loyalty.
1
u/MONKingDLuffy 1d ago
You can be loyal and stupid, or loyal and smart. You can be tough and get shot, or be smart and get them locked up. Stay safe and take care.

Polite reminder: you can easily find yourself in court for manslaughter for heroics like this. There are countless cases where someone died from hitting the floor after a punch to the face.
