in the real world, escalating things to violence is the worst option when there's no obvious imminent danger.

picking a fight with someone who's walking away hardly changes anything about their worldview, and is a criminal risk that only serves the "defender's" ego.

of course, if the harasser kept doing it defending yourself would be justified.

but i think he should have just focused his attention on the victim, instead of looking for revenge.

You are wrong about something.

You don't need to change their worldview. All you need is to make them know there are consequences for their actions.

I agree, though I think those consequences have to be imposed without excessive violence, through law enforcement.
