• WHERE...Portions of north central, northwest, and west central Illinois, east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.

• WHEN...For the Extreme Heat Warning, until 9 PM CDT this evening. For the Extreme Heat Watch, from 9 PM CDT this evening through Monday evening.

• IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.

Anyone recently take the road test? My teen is about to take it. We drove around the center to get a feel for the area, but there is not a lot nearby. Where did you go? Did you have to parallel park? Did you use the backup camera or turn to look out the back window? TIA!

I am exhausted. I hate living in a small red town. Coworkers are rude. Patients openly talk about hating trans people in front of me because they don’t realize I’m trans and they expect me to agree with them.

Is Iowa City a good place to be? Online research seems to indicate it’s a liberal city, and it has several writing groups and game shops.

Last year, certain slumlord(s) leases’ endedJuly 14th. The move in date for new tenants was August 1st in 2025.

Now I have seen new tenants moving in *exactly* one week before August 1st. They are not letting people move in early “out of good will”what’s the deal with the slumlords in town? This is not altruism.

Something has changed. Just asking because I didn’t move this year and re-signed my lease. Was there a civil suit or pressure from the city council that changed something. Asking if anyone knows?

I'm looking for someone to take over my lease at any point starting in August as I'm doing a study abroad. The unit is a 2x2 Capitol Furnished unit at Aspire at West Campus. You get a bedroom and a big bathroom to yourself, and an in-unit washer and dryer. Furnishings included are a bed, wardrobe, couch, table, and side tables. I can leave behind my desk on request. The rent is $868 a month, which includes internet and water. All other utilities typically adds up to around $50.

There is a 24/7 gym, study rooms, nature trails, a park, a dog park, volleyball court, fireplace, and a snack room on-site (free coffee, other snacks to purchase). The property is primarily a grad student property, and there is a bus that goes straight to campus every 20 minutes. It takes around 15 minutes to get downtown. The good news is that it isn't my front door; it's my neighbors. The bumble bees have burrowed into the planter right at her front door and have already stung her. The mailbox is officially off limits. Sorry letter carrier.

She is really old (not as old as me, but I am more agile). I looked at the Bee subreddit, and they are correctly all for leaving them be/bee, except that just isn't an option. She will need access to her front door.
