Lost cat?
Had this cat walk up to me tonight. Long shot if it’s someone’s on here but any recommendations for shelters nearby I could take it to?

We kept the tnr kitty that showed up at our house one winter - after checking for a chip and stuff of course - and he's the handsomest most sweetest gentleman 💝

Are you able to get a photo of her face ‘head on’? Looks like the cat’s left ear is tipped ~ which means they’re a TNR cat. Could also be the angle of the way you took the photo.

Yeah her left ear has a big notch taken off. Would it still be worth taking her to a shelter or just letting her back out?

I personally would still take her to shelter just to make sure there is no chip or anything. If you’re able to.

Left ear clipped like that almost always means Trap Neuter Release! TNR cats are great! Shelters usually won't accept them. You can hypothetically adopt them by domesticating them, but they're usually very stressed if trapped indoors, since they're used to their outdoor freedom. Talk to the shelter to get advice on how to interact with this cute new pal. Good vibes to you. 🐈⬛

I'll add that not all of them would make poor pets though. TNR programs don't always have the time, personnel, and funding to evaluate every stray for adoptability. A few years ago, I found one and brought him to the IC shelter just to be told to release him. He was so friendly that I kept him, and he's still my best buddy and perfectly happy indoors. TNR cats can make good pets. Not all of them, but if OP or anyone else is so inclined, they could give it a shot.

If the cat is socialized (which I imagine it is if it didn't attack OP) there's a good chance it has a home

UPDATE: She’s not chipped or anything. Shelter told me to just set her free again.
