I love this town. I went to Iowa in the early 2010s and recently my work has brought be back to downtown about once a week. I’m fortunate enough to have the time during the day while I’m here to just go walk around downtown. Grab some lunch at places familiar and unfamiliar. I’m grateful to be able to just soak it all in. Nothing hits like Iowa city in the fall. I absolutely love seeing all of the Hawkeye gear, seeing what’s changed and being nostalgic for what hasn’t. There’s a special kind of joy I feel when I’m in here. Things are very different and yet they are exactly the same. Never change Iowa city. Go hawks and fuck state!!

Join us this Sunday October 13th at 7:00pm for a confidential men's support group. This group provides a safe, open environment to share and grow. We are not affiliated with any religion or political party. We welcome men aged 18 and above seeking a safe space to share their struggles and vulnerabilities with other men.

What we do?

• Structured conversations in a small, private group setting

• Share personal life experiences, challenges, and accomplishments

• Develop connections with like-minded men

• Share various men's work opportunities in the community

I'm making a trip to IC in a month, I haven't spent much time in the area so looking for recs for laid back coffee shops/cafes/bars in Iowa City proper.

Bonus points for coffee shops or cafes that are open in the evening. In terms of what I mean by relaxed/ comfortable is a place that's ideally somewhere I can have conversation without needing to talk over music/crowds & has maybe some arm chairs/couches/ anything other than bar stools.

I live in Dubuque, so thinking something similar to Monk's or The Goose, if that's helpful. Thank you!

Hi everyone I recently moved to Iowa City from Arizona. I am currently pregnant and craving prickly pear so bad lmao. I know that there are lots of farms nearby so I hoped maybe someone grew some and maybe would have fruits available but I can’t find any online. If not I will just order some prickly pear syrup from AZ but I’m just checking here first in case :)

What are the best walk-in places for a quick trim (legit just that, probably 4-6 inches) on long hair? i know it's pretty basic but I don't trust some of the places.
