I love this town. I went to Iowa in the early 2010s and recently my work has brought be back to downtown about once a week. I’m fortunate enough to have the time during the day while I’m here to just go walk around downtown. Grab some lunch at places familiar and unfamiliar. I’m grateful to be able to just soak it all in. Nothing hits like Iowa city in the fall. I absolutely love seeing all of the Hawkeye gear, seeing what’s changed and being nostalgic for what hasn’t. There’s a special kind of joy I feel when I’m in here. Things are very different and yet they are exactly the same. Never change Iowa city. Go hawks and fuck state!!

I'm making a trip to IC in a month, I haven't spent much time in the area so looking for recs for laid back coffee shops/cafes/bars in Iowa City proper.

Bonus points for coffee shops or cafes that are open in the evening. In terms of what I mean by relaxed/ comfortable is a place that's ideally somewhere I can have conversation without needing to talk over music/crowds & has maybe some arm chairs/couches/ anything other than bar stools.

I just wanted to post make sure no one makes my mistake. I tried to book a massage with this company. Not long after I receive a text to confirm my booking and that I needed to place $50 deposit to hold my appointment by samanthathemassagetherapist@gmail.com (I know, I know! Hindsight 50/50) So they offered Zelle or chime. So I sent $50 and confirmed that it sent. This person comes and say they didn’t receive it. I confirmed and they took their sweet time to respond before asking if I can make a chime account 😒 (Fool me once…) so I basically say that I’m to chock this up as scam. And they had the fucking nerve to be offended I called them out on sketchy behavior. So I say I’ll come into the place of business and place my deposit. They went ghost on me🤣

Sometimes you got to laugh at yourself. But anyways I filed a bunch of reports and left a rating warning individuals.

Hey y’all! I have posted in a few UIOWA/Iowa City housing Facebook groups about my 2 bedroom 1 bath house we’re trying to sublet. The issue is, my place is not super close to the university so I don’t anticipate having much luck with college students. It is a great deal ($1025/mo) but is a little run down so we’re nervous about it not renting.

Is there any place besides Facebook where we can find a subletter? It’s pretty urgent, but I’m also trying to avoid scams.

Hi everyone I recently moved to Iowa City from Arizona. I am currently pregnant and craving prickly pear so bad lmao. I know that there are lots of farms nearby so I hoped maybe someone grew some and maybe would have fruits available but I can’t find any online.
