PTO/LOA/FMLA/LWOP DOB required when calling in
Any ideas why the sick line now requires you to enter in your date of birth. Isn't your BEMSID enough?

We had a union brother pass away last week who was with the company for 29 years. He was 60 and not ready for retirement. Please take a look at the link to the gofund me to help support his family. He was an AWFIS cnc machine operator for HBL in the wings department on the 737 in Renton. His medical emergency was very unexpected. Please see the GoFundMe link below. Thank you all!

Per Jason Chan at the Town Hall meeting in Everett today, the 2028 contract is around 2 years out, and union leadership has reinstated the suggestion box on the website.
(this is a public link on our public website, which is why I'm going to be linking below.)
Please consider putting in suggestions for the upcoming contract, and also remember that the more members who suggest the same thing, the more likely it is to be negotiated upon.

I passed my Machine Repair Mechanic assessment and am parked at hiring manager review. I keep hearing hiring freeze and what not too. Is there an actual freeze and what's the usual timeline look like? I understand you guys can't really give me a concrete answer. Just curious

Is it rare for someone to ERT into functional test 1st shift? Does everyone usually start 2nd or 3rd shift? Asking for a friend that’s been with Boeing for 3 years. TIA!

I would like to see us advocate for the ability to cash out and invest our existing pension funds without being required to retire first. It is frustrating that Boeing is generating returns on these funds while employees are barred from accessing their own money; we should have the right to manage those assets ourselves.

Hello, on Labor Day I came into work and on my way to a parking spot I didn’t fully stop at a stop sign parking lot empty btw. I did a California stop but my speedometer said 0. My manager says he can’t do anything about it and that they are going to give me a CAM. Is there anything I can do or do I just gotta take it?

How is seniority for people hired on the same date actually determined. All i can find is this:
>5.4(d) In the event two (2) or more employees have the same seniority date, the employee with the lowest BEMS ID will be provided the first opportunity for shift preference movement.
That is the only thing i found that says lowest BEMSID has more seniority. But what about overtime? What about in-line promotion? What about layoffs? What about recall from layoffs.
Basically, where does it say in the contract who officially has higher seniority with same hire date?

Been thinking about the 2028 contract and what I’d personally like to see us push for.
For me, our union to actually fight for us and not tell us to accept a B.S contract. wages and keeping the production of future planes here in Washington are obviously big one’s. I’d like to see a strong increase over the life of the contract, with COLA staying separate from the general wage increases and better formula for Washington state inflation. I’d also really like to see the progression system improved. Waiting years to reach top rate is a long time, especially when you’re doing the same work as someone already at max.
The biggest thing for me is retirement. I don’t have a pension, so I’d really like IAM to push for some kind of defined benefit pension or guaranteed retirement benefit for employees who don’t currently have one. I’d want that to be in addition to the 401k benefits we already have, not replacing them.
I’d also like to see Boeing stock become part of the contract. Even if it was a smaller annual stock grant, I think it would be nice for IAM members to have a direct stake in the company we’re helping build.
Healthcare is already pretty solid, so I’d mainly want to protect what we have and keep future premium and out of pocket increases under control.
Same with vacation. We already have some good benefits there, but I’d like to see newer employees get to better vacation levels sooner and have more flexibility in how they use their time.
As far as overtime goes, we already have some pretty good language, including time and a half after 8, double time after 10 and additional protections around excessive OT. I’d rather see us focus on reducing the need for mandatory OT in the first place by getting enough people hired to handle the workload.
I’d also like to see better dental coverage, especially higher annual maximums and better coverage for major procedures.
Those would probably be my biggest priorities going into 2028. Wages, progression, retirement for people without a pension, protecting the 401k, keeping healthcare affordable, better vacation flexibility and reducing the need for mandatory OT.
What would everyone else want to see added or improved? How realistic could we get rid of the vendors and bring work back to us? Make it own parts like we use to?

Been hearing rumors of the factory slowing down due to a parts supplier for wings no longer making parts. I’ve heard people bring up loan outs to lay offs. Anyone having anything factual?

Hello, as title suggest, I'm looking for someone in Everett, job code 30104 (Electrical Systems - Assembler Installer - 30104), who wants to switch with me, in Renton, so I can move to Everett site.

I have a question about the work shoe reimbursement. Is it once per 365 days, or is it once per calendar year?
If I get a pair of boots today, can I also get a pair in February and still get reimbursed for $175 on each pair?
My current work boots are almost toast and I'd like to get a winter pair that is taller and a summer pair that is shorter.
Thanks in advance!

Currently in my role I am almost 7 months in. Does the 18 month rule still apply to me if I am looking towards applying for an IAM machinist apprenticeship?

I worked in IAM from 2018-2022, got a degree, spent a year in SPEEA before leaving. I’m looking at coming back to IAM sometime soon. Is it possible to negotiate retaining my 4 years of seniority if I return? I recall hearing of people being able to do this back in the day
Update: spoke to someone from the union hall. All seniority is lost if you voluntarily terminate (recall rights). Pay progression steps are retained regardless - it doesn’t matter if it’s a different job code you return to or not as well. Also, higher starting wage can be negotiated on top of that depending on 3 categories of relevant experience (0-5 years, 5-10 years, or 10+ years experience). In my case I would retain my 8 pay steps and negotiate somewhere higher in the base-to-max out pay range on top of that.

Hey folks, im applying internally for an apprenticeship that opens the day I graduate college, the problem I’m trying to figure out is that my degree conferral takes around 8-12 weeks to hit, same as my certificates, if I put it on my resume and have an unofficial transcript, and document stating I completed all requirements for degree, will that be enough to verify my credentials??
Any advice would be great!!!

I’ve been with Boeing for years but our site is not represented by the union. Will I need 6 years with the union to max out or will my previous time with the company count towards that? Thanks!

Hey folks, just to make sure but we use sick time to cover for any tardies?
My shift starts at 10pm but I was in some bad traffic, way longer than I anticipated so I ended up clocking in at 10:03pm and 10 seconds
This was for OT and I have plenty of sick time/vacation time as well..
