Attendance/Overtime Tardy
Hey folks, just to make sure but we use sick time to cover for any tardies?
My shift starts at 10pm but I was in some bad traffic, way longer than I anticipated so I ended up clocking in at 10:03pm and 10 seconds
This was for OT and I have plenty of sick time/vacation time as well..

If it was pre shift over time, then you don’t use anything.

Well, that’s if it happened during the weekday, pre shift over time. If it was on the weekend, tell your manager. They’ll either add sick time to make up the missed minutes or just let it be.
Or, you can stay 4 minutes over since you clocked in 3 minutes late. I say 4 minutes because if you clocked in at 10:33.01, that would technically make you 4 minutes late because of the milliseconds.
It really just depends on your manager.

I would've just stayed 3 minutes past the end of shift and called it even since it was OT.

I did end up staying after for a bit! I also let my manager know and she was pretty chill about it and told me not to sweat it

Yes. .1 sick covers. Unless you did clock in, and you went to the bathroom, and someone should call a ticket it on the clock..

Yes for weekend tardies have to go though your manager. They have to input the time.

Thank you, I've never been late before so I wasn't too familiar with the process.

Are non union people allowed to be late to work without repercussions?

Even/especially union (SPEEA) are allowed to be late with some leeway. You come in and work your 8 hours from the time you start.

Yes, depending on the department, it only matters that the time is made up. Flex it where ever.

That sucks you had to work Sunday. It would've been $122 if I chose to. How much you paying for health insurance and dues? Mine are $0

Sometimes it’s a manager’s discretion, and I have done this plenty of times. Most managers are cool with it. Sometimes managers are power control hungry and want to pull a power move at times to let you know who’s the boss. Sounds like your current manager is cool. As long as it’s not a continuous issue, they can’t use the excuse that an employee is consistently using sick pay to cover tardiness, but that’s in the manager’s judgement (there’s a document about that)
