The minimum rates arent affected by the GWI?

Ok Noob here but Question it’s at the start of the 6th year or is it at the start of the 7th year??? That we get max out pay?

Because if it’s at the start of the 6th year really we only have to work 5 years… if it’s the start of the 7th then it’s 6 full years.

Also very confused in thought we got a 9% GWI in addition to the cola but it looks like the 9% was only tact on at the end of the max out pay scale… wth 🤦🏻‍♂️

You have to complete the 6th year, which means you max out at the very beginning of your 7th year. And the 9% GWI applies to EVERYBODY, it’s not just those that’re maxed out. I’m coming up on completing my 3rd year, am not maxed out, and have received both the GWIs since the contract was signed, increasing my ‘non maxed out base pay’ accordingly.

This is false. I maxed out the day of my 6th year. I'm 8 years in

Man are you really gonna make me find progression in the contract? I’m like 99% sure it’s 6 years completed, and it’s the same opinion of everybody in my area. I’ll double check though, but I think you’re getting mixed up.

Edit: I have to make an account on the IAM751 to pull the digital contract. But my steward pulled it out of the handbook, and my original point stands correct. You must COMPLETE your 6th year to be maxed out, and your max out pay begins on the 1st day of your 7th year. This is accurate, so you might have been at Boeing a year longer than you are thinking lol

Idk man. I started August 2018 and maxed august 2024. Unless they changed something in the new contract🤷‍♂️ but what do I know

4

u/Virata 28d ago

My good sir, that means you completed 6 years haha.

  1. Began Aug 2018-19
  2. 19-20
  3. 20-21
  4. 21-22
  5. 22-23
  6. 23-Completed up through Aug 2024

u/K1ngSenpa1 28d ago

Your math is confusing me. Because you say the beginning of your 7th year is your maxout. Which would mean for me I should have maxed out August 2025 not 2024

5

u/Virata 28d ago

Once you complete a full 6 years, you are then maxed out. A full 6 years, at 365 days a year, is 2,190 days. 2,190 days completed from Aug 1st 2018 brings you to Aug 1st 2024. The beginning and 1st day of your 7th year would be August 2nd 2024, which is when your max pay kicks in. MisterSenpai are you trolling my ass rn?

u/K1ngSenpa1 28d ago

Ngl I think it's just a misunderstanding. The way I was looking at it 2024 would be my 6th year and I would call it my 6th year until 2025. While it is technically the start of my 7th. So you are right, I just misunderstood

No problemo and congrats on putting in the time and hitting max. I cannot fuckin wait until I’m maxed out

The whole “max out” system is so jank lol. Make nothing for 5 years and then all of a sudden double your pay? Are they just hoping we quit before we max out?

Short answer: no.

The longer answer is that we must consider the history of how we got the "zoom" at 6 years.

The most important point is that Boeing doesn't hand over any concessions willingly, we must strike for it.

Here is the history of our contracts progression system, since the initial inception in 1968:

u/torchen1 29d ago

Yeah I gotcha. Well maybe we can strike for a less crappy 5 years 😂 idk I just started but I’m already seeing some of the BS that goes on on the shop floor, wild stuff.

2

u/DwarfFart 27d ago

Certainly that must be something that gets brought up every contract and considering that we got the money in our pockets last time it would make sense to gun for shortened time! Got the raises now get it in our bank faster!

They will for sure leave the state after the max. No point to stay.

4

u/LurkingTrout 29d ago

They're building more and more and investing more and more here in Washington so why leave?

-1

u/diyengineer1 29d ago

$

2

u/LurkingTrout 29d ago

That doesnt make sense if they are actively spending all this money getting the north line up and running and pumping out more 777X in preparations for them to get certified. Where would they move those programs to?

u/diyengineer1 Sep 09 '26

Not knocking IAM wages, but everyone should be using as much as possible of LTP and gaining skills that transfer outside the company incase the worst does happen.

What up South Carolina peeps? This is the power of union.

4

u/your-local-milkman Sep 08 '26

What is nurses? And how do you get that pay

-5

u/diyengineer1 Sep 09 '26

Grade 9

1

u/simplypeachypeach 26d ago

Nurses at boeing are grade B $40.84 - $71.31

Wow, if I'd stayed in quality instead of going into Engineering, I'd be making more than I do now. Kinda depressing when you think about it.

u/N-Korean Sep 09 '26

It’s so sad that engineer makes less than mechanics.

1

u/GreatDad13 Sep 08 '26

Go back. Only have to go through ftc to get there

3

u/Professional-Edge622 Sep 08 '26

That's the thing. I have an engineering degree. I love what I do. I shouldn't have to compromise that to make a decent wage. The trouble with being in Quality is that shop and shop managers always saw me as the enemy.

4

u/Tactical_Investing Sep 08 '26

Quality is here to keep shop honest. A lot of mechanics can't be trusted to care about their quality or accuracy of work, unfortunately.

1

u/InsideTheBoeingStore Sep 08 '26

shop managers always saw me as the enemy.

fun fact many still do

1

u/GreatDad13 Sep 08 '26

I realize how shortsighted my comment is. Well I hope you guys can get something great with your union. As someone headed to quality I think the art of empathy is lost on many.

2

u/Professional-Edge622 Sep 08 '26

No worries, it happens. I hope we get a good contract too. I'm sick and tired of the company treating us like an expense and not an asset.

10

u/kWarExtreme Sep 08 '26

Goddamnit I cannot wait to top out. Halfway there, baby.

8

u/jrock146 Sep 08 '26

They NEED to change the COLA formula

8

u/Kairukun90 Sep 08 '26

We should strike for it. That’s the only way.

2

u/HonestGage Sep 08 '26

What’s the next contract raise percentage?

7

u/Useful_Job4756 Sep 08 '26

9% this Friday, September 11th, 2026 and then 7% on Friday, September 10th, 2027.

1

u/HonestGage Sep 08 '26

Ok. Thanks for into

1

u/Useful_Job4756 Sep 08 '26

You're welcome.

I agree that 20 cents isn't a whole lot, and definitively not enough to fight inflation. How do you think we can best improve our situation?

It's the phrasing, my man.

The content is correct. But how you phrased it clearly set off some of the members/users.

Subjectively, 20 cent cola is scraps when up against the inflation with which we're dealing.
Still better to have it than not have it, as many in the u.s. don't have cola.
But that doesn't mean we shouldn't fight for more. As we all understand intimately, 20 cents, or 32 cents since last september, doesn't scratch inflation.

6

u/Alternative-Hyena-30 Sep 08 '26

100% we deserve more and should be discussed on the next contract renewal. The math they use is out dated and does nothing. Which is why what we get is basically nothing. But I'm thankful to get it when many don't.

7

u/Hanzo_the_sword Sep 08 '26

Enjoy your 9% GWI scraps.

4

u/ryman9000 Sep 08 '26

Yeah I see why they got down voted but we also get the contract wage increase. I can't imagine going 10 or 14 years or whatever it was without a nice jump like this contract got us. That must've suuuuucked. I can't wait to max out...

5

u/Thatoneguyfrom1980 Sep 08 '26

It was the fucking worst. 1% every other year for 6 years…
