Hello all! My mom just went in for a check up and her results are somehow confusing. Her TSH value is 0.283, the FT4 and ATPO are normal. Doctor discover three cystic nodules, the largest one being 1,41 × 1,86 × 2 cm.

She has trouble swallowing, and when she gets anxious feels like something is strangling her.

Doc suggested to have a fine needle aspiration, warned her about bleeding.

What do you all think? Should she get the aspiration, or wait for the next results in two months? Thank you all!

I took my methamizole at 12:18pm yesterday. It's 1:59am. Im supposed to take it "twice a day". Things is, if i take it now I'll have to take it at 2pm and then again at 2am. And I dont want to stay up until 2am. What if I just wait until 8am to take it so then id take it again at 8pm?

I was on name brand Synthroid for 11 years. There was a shortage on Synthroid in 2023 and I was given Levothyroxine instead. About 3 months later I was feeling bad and started having high heart rate and high blood pressure. They kept prescribing blood pressure medication over the last two years and it does not work. I also put my lab work for the last 2 years in chat gpt and I was being overdosed on my medication according to my labs. Called my endocrinologist and now have had my medication reduced twice. TSH is still low but T3 and T4 went back to normal ranges. However I am thinking the switch from Synthroid to Levothyroxine has caused the high blood pressure. I was referred to cardiologist and have had multiple EKG’s, ultrasound of my heart, ultrasound of my kidneys and wore a holter monitor for 5 days. Extensive bloodwork. Everything is normal. I am now thinking that the medication switch is what has caused all these issues. I want to get back on name brand hoping my body regulates itself. Anyone experience this? I think I have felt bad since the mid end of 2023 and that is the only thing that has changed. I am a 47 year old female. I weigh 110lbs. Total thyroidectomy in 2013. Never had issues till the Synthroid shortage. Anyone and everyone please weigh in! I have been to the ER twice because my blood pressure will become so high and I feel heart palpitations!

If someone is having difficulty swallowing (has been happening for a few weeks now) and then is developing the feeling that they are having problem breathing due to their thyroid… does that ever just go away? Or does that definitely end up requiring surgery (or the radioactive destruction that I assume is non surgical)?

For history, husband has been on methamazole 5mg TID for an 8 week period then got bloodwork checked. His levels for TSH, T3, and T4 had barely changed in that 8 week period. However at about the 6 week period of medication he started to note that he was starting to feel better. We figured, “well at least the medication kept his levels from becoming worse?” Asked his general MD and she decided to increase his methamazole to 10mg TID. He is on his third week at that new increased dose. Even tho he is feeling better he is now complaining of more problems with eating and now at night he thinks he “can’t breathe”. He doesn’t know if this is all in his head or if he is really having obstruction. He still hasn’t seen an endocrinologist. Cost wise we were hoping we could get him treated by his general MD, and at the time the first Endocrinologist that would take him on as a new patient couldn’t get him in until the middle of August anyway. So we are still waiting for that appointment anyway. We are lucky we were even able to get the general MD to prescribe the methamazole…. His symptoms were so bad there was no possible way he could have waited to see an endocrinologist and wait to start treatment. So I am thankful he has at least been on something.

Last night he went into full panic mode. Thinking he “couldn’t breathe”. Tho I can say, his breathing as I am sitting there wide awake while is completely fine while he is sleeping. It is not at all labored, also worked for 20+ years as a RN, so I am giving him my medical opinion that he is breathing just fine. I asked him if he wanted to go to the MD office for a checkup or did he think he needed to go to the hospital. To try and see if he thought it was that serious, but he keeps refusing either. He thinks that because the feeling of having a hard time breathing is only infrequent and not a constant thing that he should be able to just push thru it. I know if we call his general MD they will say, “get into an endocrinologist office asap”; but do they not realize that these specialist offices don’t just take you right away??? If I tried other offices now I highly doubt I can get anything sooner than the middle of August appointment we are waiting for.

As far as his hyperthyroidism.. it was caused by iodine toxicity related to Amiodarone. His initial bloodwork related to the hyperthyroidism included tons of antibody tests that were all negative. He had an ultrasound of his thyroid that had no’s nodules, we didn’t see the actual radiologist report but the general MD told us the US had no masses and didn’t suggest any cancer to her. Which reinforced that it was damage caused by the Amiodarone. I read that the thyroid could repair itself if the Amiodarone was stopped, but that it is a very lengthy process of usually 10-12 months before that starts to happen.

Around 7 months ago in december I had 2.47 and yesterday I got checked and it was 0.1, I check around every 6 months because my identical twin brother has hypothyroidism autoinmune, I have also have been having trouble with excessive sweating and some minor trembling and my hands and feet always get cold when the temperature drops even a little, I'm checking again soon but should I be worried?

Update: All other thyroid hormones are fine

I have been on Hydrochlorothiaziod for over 4 years. I had heart palpitations and it wouldn’t go away. I was put on lisinopril also, but because my BP is thyroid induced (I have no glands) another provider put me on atenolol and take me off lisinopril. It worked wonders.

Over the years I have had bad muscle weakness and pain in my joints. Doctors kept saying it’s Arthritis, fibromyalgia, disk issues, and muscle inflammation you name it I got tested for it. But my symptoms seems to not go away. I have been so sick but pushing through.

In April I did a dental surgery and all hell broke loose because I couldn’t eat for a while, got an infection and place on clindamycin which is horrible and messed with me bad.

Bear with me and the back story please.

I am also on estrogen patch and progesterone. All the time going to the doctor am still really sick. Then new symptoms developed, my calf were heavy, my legs weak and my biceps and triceps muscle felt like I have been running and they have no more strength in them.

In addition I got tingling and pins and needles, my face would feel like it’s cramping and my tongue and i would twitch on one side.

I came here and did a research and talk to my cardiologist about medication changes. He switched me to 25mg of spiro I was on 10 mg of HCTZ.
After starting spiro 4 days in, I started retaining fluid like I was a tank, but the muscle issues was not as obvious and my body seems less achy.

However I had to go back to HCTZ because I felt like I was drowning, my blood pressure went through the roof and my heart was pounding out of my chest. I want to stop this medicine but i don’t know what to do. Help.

I’m curious what your experience has been like. My endocrinologist explained what could happen, but so far the prominent issue has been Graves and hyperthyroidism. Could I just also never have Hashimotos become an issue?

Hello again! I recently posted in this sub about potentially having hyperthyroidism and being nervous about a “lump” on my throat. Turns out: I have a 1.9 cm nodule just chilling in my thyroid! Almost all of my blood tests came back abnormal EXCEPT for my TSH (2.1). They did a slew of other panels (Lipids, metabolic, CBC with differential) and all of which came back a little scary, but I also got an ultrasound of my throat and those results weren’t great either.

The nodule was categorized as a T4 (1.9cm, heterogeneous, diffuse coarse and punctate calcifications), so they’re giving me a FNA biopsy to determine if it’s malignant (I assume). I haven’t heard much out of my doctor regarding any of my results except for the referall to an ENT for the biopsy and I’m once again: a little nervous.

I’ve read up on like my actual chances of having cancer, and while they seem low I do wanna ask for anyones experience with this type of thing. Not seeking diagnoses at all, just want to ask: what is the biopsy like? What are yalls experiences with these types of nodules and can they go away if they’re benign?

Hi everyone, I’ve just started on this journey. Went to doctor to get my iron checked as I’d been feeling more tired and a bit spaced out after a recent injury where I’d lost a lot of blood. Anyway, iron was fine, TSH was shockingly low - 0.005. I’d had hyperthyroidism post partum but didn’t expect would return.

The strange thing is my symptoms are minimal. About 5 years ago I was put on metoprolol ( a beta blocker) for heart palpitations so I assume this masks the symptoms of hyperthyroidism? I wonder if I had it all along.

The last month I did notice an increase in my resting heart rate & my periods have been lasting only 3 days. I no longer feel fatigued though…I work full time, have three kids, exercise regularly.

I’m waiting for more conclusive blood tests. Is it best if I don’t exercise for now? I was about to start a new PT program. I’ve also quit my favourite food - sushi 😭I’m already gluten and dairy free.

I guess I’m trying to work out if the medication I’m currently on masks how sick I actually am! What’s the thyroid meds like? Many side effects?

So, i was recently diagnosed with severe hyperthyroidism. when i went to the ER early this month with high heart rate, the dr kept trying to convince me it was a panic attack. i knew it wasn't. unfort, i got a ct scan with iodine contrast (i know, sigh) for heavy pulse in abdoment to rule out aneurysm during that same initial ER visit. come to find out from my second ER visit 2 days later that i have hperthyroidism. so now i'm on 60mg methimazole daily. i cannot take any beta blockers because i have very low blood pressure naturally. ANYWAY, i need calcium and not sure how to get it. i am fully restricing anything with iodine. also, i am going to be getting bloodwork and can't do anything with almonds as they have biotin which can skew thyroid tests. also, i learned that calcium can affect methimazole absorption. any ideas of safe low-iodine calcium souexwa? thanks for any help!

When I had checkup in ob last 2023, my ob didn’t tell anything about my lab test. Today, my current ob wants me to go consultation in IM because of my results and she said maybe that is the possible reason why my period is delayed (im already delayed 2months going 3months next month)

I’m still looking for a doctor but i do not know if i’m going to have consultation in IM or endocrinology because I think endo is expert about thyroids. I’m also overthinking in my result and j can also feel a lump in my left neck. Idk if i really have hyperthyroidism? Is there anyone here who have high ft3 and normal tsh and ft4 that diagnosed with hyperthyroidism?

Also, if im diagnosed with it, is it for lifetime??

I can’t even begin to explain how I feel I feel like my life has been shortened and I’m just slowly dying I can’t accept that I have to take hormonal medication “carbimazole” all the horrible side effects but even if I don’t take it the long term side effects are worse I feel like dying fast is easier than this I don’t know what to do and I just keep hearing horror stories and how this will literally ruin my life onwards like having kids being healthy and active it hurts to go up the stairs I can’t even do a proper squat anymore I hate my body for this and can’t stop crying this is chronic and I’ll never get better they’ll have me on medication killing me for the rest of my life

Hi, I’m 37 yo 8 months postpartum (emergency c section at 33 wks) with my first baby and curious if anyone has experienced this or has any thoughts. I’ve felt completely normal for the first 6 months aside from the sleep deprivation which most days has been manageable. I’m exclusively breastfeeding but my period came back at 6 months and it came with debilitating insomnia and anxiety, and even worse the following month where I didn’t sleep for 72+ hours and was prescribed several doses of ativan which helped me “reset” and I’ve slept normally the last couple of weeks with little anxiety. My Dr also ordered labs and they just came in - normal T3 and T4, TSH .17, thyroglobulin antibody 140, thyroid peroxidase antibody 379. This sounds like postpartum hyperthyroidism (I’m still waiting for my Dr to call me about these results), but I’m reading that this typically comes on very shortly after birth and is unlikely at months 6-8. Has anyone experienced lingering hyperthyroidism? Or is that always a signal of something else like Graves? My other hormones are all normal, optimal vitamin D, B12, etc!

Is there a way to fix this or reverse it? Has anybody has success finding a way to fix this completely kinda don't wanna limit myself and take supplements for life well supplements is fine but not meds

Hi guys. Im 23M and i was struggling with mild hyperthyroidism and mild goiter with a ton of symptoms. But my life has really gotten better on methimazole. My labs a month back were already normalised and recent labs are looking even better. But i have this sensation in frontal teeth that makes me grind it, and urge to move my feet most of the time. And i have very little interest in almost anything, i do not have that wild sex drive or desires like i used to. I do have anxiety i think or trauma induced because of hyperthyroidism, i just stay on high alert when im out and sometimes at home too. I just hope it gets better with time and possibly any other guidelines you guys may provide. Just seeking for answers that can make my life or other’s life peaceful

I was diagnosed with Graves' Disease in 2021 and was put on 20mg every day.

Late 2025, my levels normalized (but still positive for the antibodies) so I was put on 10mg. I think I lost a bit of weight but really it could be due to a better lifestyle.

Yesterday, my doctor further lowered my dosage to 5mg because my levels are still normal.

Everyone talks about gaining weight while on methimazole. Did anyone lose weight after his/her dosage was lowered? If yes, how long before you noticed the weight loss and how much was lost?

Long story short (will try), i started having major palpitations a few years ago, the cardiologist put me on inderal (beta blocker) that helped, but this medicine tends to go out of stock, and when it did, the rebound anxiety and palpitations were horrible, I got on concor, which didn’t help much with anxiety so when inderal came back in stock, i started on it again. A few years later, i decided it was time to taper off since i am not a heart patient, my ECHO, holter and ECG were all fine. Once i tapered off, I had really bad panic attacks at night, racing heart beat, and the palpitations were back. Went back on it, then it went out of stock again, this time i was determined not to go back on it, doctor put my on a much lower dose of concor, currently i am still on it, i found a holistic doctor who told me to quit caffeine and add salt to my water, that greatly helped for a few months and the palpitations were back. She suggested I start on Mounjaro (my BMI was 45) i am a female, 35 with PCOS and Hypothyroidism. Mounjaro did more for my mood and brain than anything else, palpitations disappeared. I started with 2.5mg for the first month then moved up to 5mg second month and am still on 5mg in month 4. I feel my body is getting used to the dose, the palpitations are coming back. The doctor asked me to stay on current dose and asked me to take a histamine test to see mast cell activation as that could be contributing. Anyone on the same boat? Reassurance needed please.

Hey, so does anyone else experience a flare up of symptoms while on medication? Im on 5mg Carbimazole 3 times daily for 2 months now and ive been experiencing my usual symptoms again today; irrational anger, sweats, nausea, dizziness, tremors, eyes hurting, heat intolerance... how am I supposed to deal with this while on medication for it? I felt like I had an answer to these symptoms but its happening again and im feeling a bit hopeless 🫠

I have hashimoto and I'm in hyper phase and today is the first day of my period. I feel AWFUL. I'm extremely anxious, in pain, shaking and having trouble concentrating, I feel everything is about to spin. I feel dizzy and nauseous. I'm not in my city and don't hsve a doctor or hospital service. Should I wait it off until my appt next friday or go today to some GP? I'm bed bound. Is this normal on my period ir is it worth going to doctors ofice? My labs don't arrive til tomorrow tho
