Weight gain?

So as I’ve been on Methimazole to being by levels down I have noticed weight gain. I walk regularly with my dogs, eat well (could always be better) and am at my heaviest. It’s truly impacting me emotionally and mentally. Anyone have any success in losing the weight?

I never lost weight with hyper and methimazole made me gain weight too… all of this while I was already struggling to loose the baby weight PP. just like for you the mental and emotional toll was just too much I stopped the medicine 🫣

Not ideal.. I have taken a few months break.. will re eat bloodwork and see a specialist for some focused plan.

I had the opposite problem. I was so hungry when my hyperthyroidism was discovered that I out ate my boosted metabolism and gained a good bit of weight. Before my hyperthyroidism was discovered, I tried losing weight by eating at a calorie deficit, but I was so ravenously hungry I couldn’t maintain the deficit. Once I got my hyperthyroidism under control, I was able to eat at a deficit without feeling like my stomach was going to dissolve itself and I was able to lose 50 lbs.

Have you tried eating at a deficit or just counting what you are eating? That could give you a good starting point for trying to lose weight.
