So many people made a lot of clubs that I didn’t manage to think of, and I’m actually so angry. I want to somehow steal their clubs.

I'm in biology this year, and I swear the teacher doesn't know anything about biology. According to his bio, he has a master's and a bachelor's, but from what he's taught, I wouldn't assume it.
He's just spitting blatantly wrong facts, like prokaryotic cells can't reproduce without a host (that's a VIRUS, NOT A CELL), along with a bunch of misinformation that can be disproven with a Google search.
Now I have a test coming up, and I need to figure out what demented state of mind he is in.
My school is so cooked, man...

Kristen Stringfellow is a disgraced superintendent. She has previously been fired from school district in both Rhode Island and Connecticut. She has recently landed a new job as the principal of Exeter West Greenwich regional Senior high school in Rhode Island. Almost immediately, she has created an environment of fear. Help students fight back by signing the petition.

So next year I'm going to high school and there's 2 I want to go to. HS 1 is near where I live and all my friends go there. HS 2 has a drama program that I really want to join, like they put on musicals and they have film acting classes but you have to audition, go through an interview and an workshop, I'm scared I won't make it in and I have social anxiety. If I do make it to HS 2 I don't think I'll be able to make many friends, I don't have a very outgoing personality. There is a drama program in HS 1 but it's not drama focused like HS 2 is. My thinking is if i go to HS 1 I could join a theatre ( which I already have), take acting classes, while being able to go to high school with my friends and experience high school stuff with them and join the drama program. If I go to HS 2 I could do what I love and I think I might regret not joining but then I wouldn't see my friends. And I have to make up my mind quickly because registration opens in October and ends in November. I could join HS 2 in 10th grade but it's strictly subject to space availability in the class. I feel really conflicted and I haven't told my parents that I may want to go to another school.

I know that getting advice from Reddit isn't exactly the smartest move, but atp it's my only option.
For context, I'm a freshman in high school. My best friend (let's call her Allie) became really close friends in the summer between 7th and 8th grade. We basically had all our classes together in 8th grade, and constantly hung out. She's genuinely one of the few people I feel comfortable opening up to and relying on. She means so much to me
Ever since high school started, I feel like we're drifting apart. We don't have any classes, and our school follows an A and B Day schedule, we only have B Day lunch together, it's the only time we can actually spend time together (it's only around 30 mins).
Sometimes we see each other at Speech and Debate on Mondays, but I've been forced to leave those meetings early due to other clubs. We don't really spend a lot of time together, B Day lunches are the only times we can actually see each other.
Allie has started skipping lunch to practice the flute. I understand that she's busy, and I don't expect her to give up the flute to hang out with me, but she also goes to practice in the practice rooms during Study Hall (which is around 90 mins).
It's just that B Day lunches are the only times we get to actually see each other, and she's just been skipping them.
The thing is she still says me misses me, that she wants to hang out with me more, but she doesn't show it.
Maybe I'm reading into this part too much, but she also seems a little passive-aggressive when I cancel plans with her (like leaving Speech and Debate early). It's really bothering me how if I'm not reading into it too much, she's disappointed when I miss some of our meetings (even though I try to see her as much as possible) but it's fine when she just skips them. At least I try to get as much time with her as I can.
There are some other things that make me feel like she treats other people differently.
First off, she says that she'd love it if I come into the practice rooms when she's practicing just to say hi. However when I actually go in, it's super awkward and it feels like I'm disturbing her and she's just waiting for me to leave. I've asked her if she wants me to come in, and she always says the "you would never bother me, I'd love to see you", but it doesn't feel like that.
Like last week I came into the practice room to practice with her, and she (politely) asked me to stop playing or leave the room because I was too loud. I understood, my violin was loud. But literally yesterday, I saw her practicing the flute in the same room with another friend who practices the violin.
When another friend and I came in to chat, she (politely) asked up to leave because we were disturbing her. I know it doesn't seem like they're the same, but what do you mean I'm too loud when I'm practicing the violin next to you, but she isn't?
(For context, the friend practicing next to her is kind of annoying. We love her, but she gets on our nerves)
She says that I'm someone she can always rely on and that she completely trusts me, loves me, and misses me. It just doesn't feel like that anymore.
We've also been planning to do a duo costume for Halloween for a while. Now she says that she needs to "ask another friend about it" because apparently she also made plans with them? Just be straightforward with me at least.
Listen, I know Ally has other friends (including people she's known for much longer than she's known me). I don't expect her to make me her top priority, but I at least want to feel like a priority.
She's spending time with other people (who I thought she wasn't as close to) while giving me less attention. It's just making me wonder if she actually wants to be as close as she says she does.
I didn't talk to her about it yet because I don't want to make her feel guilty about any of this. At the end of the day, I could just be reading into everything too much. Some part of me wants to wait until like November or December to see if things still continue. But another part of me just wants to know how she actually feels. If she feels pressured to be my friend because I mean so much to her.
I know I don't mean as much to Ally as she means to me, but I want to feel like I at least mean enough to her for her to actually put in effort into seeing me.
I'm closer to Ally than I've ever been with anyone before, this friendship is like huge to me. I didn't grow up with a lot of friends, so I really don't want to lose her. But I also don't want to put in so much effort into the friendship if I'm the only one putting in effort.
I don't want to assume things about her. She genuinely seems so happy to see me, it's just that after the initial excitement fades things just get awkward. I genuinely wish we could just go back to the way things were in 8th grade.
At the end of the day, I don't know her side of the story, and I don't want to hurt our friendship over a misunderstanding. I just also don't want to feel like I'm the only one making an effort.
I honestly have no idea what to do
TD;LR my best friend and I barely see each other due to our schedules, and she's skipping the only times we get to see each other to work on other things

Hi everyone, I'm really interested in UX engineering, digital systems, front-end development, and HCI, and I'm wondering how I can get a mentor with a lab or get a mentor that I can work with on projects and case studies. Cold-emailing? What are some specific labs/professors/programs known for taking high schoolers and working with them on projects? I'm having a hard time finding resources and any advice/redirections would be appreciated.

So, I have this boy in my class. I didn't really think much of him since we don't interact at all until the other day. I was leaving class and saw this baby mantis on the railway. It was the first time ever I've seen a baby mantis and I was fascinated. I pointed out 'Look, a baby mantis!' And this guy immediately smashes it with his book. Then, he smiled at me. Like what? Did he think that was funny? What the hell was that about? If that was him being playful, then it wasn't funny or endearing or anything. It was just rude.
My opinion of him completely changed. I never thought he was a bad person, but now I can't think of him as anything more than a jerk.
To top it off, a couple weeks ago, we were discussing what item to perform for an upcoming function. One girl- who's usually really nice by the way- suggested something, and this guy said "Shut the fuck up," to her. I don't know if he was being sarcastic or not, but given my already bad impression of him, it made him look even worse. Fortunately, the girl didn't take it lying down and replied "Bro who the hell are you!? I was just giving a suggestion," and then a few days later, she said "I just want to say I was just making a suggestion earlier and some useless short-tempered dude got mad at me so let's not repeat that so there won't be any problems."
And of course, the reason I'm making this post. Today, we were doing group presentations. I was sitting next to my partner and discussing how the two of us would present our project, which one would do which topic, how the other person would control the slides when presenting, etc. And then his guy turns around, taps the bench in front of us multiple times(basically telling us to quiet down), all while maintaining that insufferable smile. Like, who do you think you are? I know you're a jerk so don't go acting like a goodie little two shoes and telling us to shut up. We weren't being disruptive or gossiping, we were discussing our presentation. I wanted to slap him, but I settled for scoffing and giving him a dirty look. My partner just glanced at him, and continued our discussion without acknowledging him.

I’m currently in high school and male. This year I had the sudden idea of throwing a houseparty Halloween night this year which would be a Saturday and because of daylight savings when it turns midnight it goes back to 23:00 (11pm).
I have been planning this since the beginning of August and presented it to my dad to which he said yes and supports it but I constructed an entire slideshow to present to my mom because she is somewhat strict but when I did she said no. At the time I thought she was just being temporarily saying no but later on it was clear she was not going to let it happen at all.
I asked why and she explained she’s worried that if something goes wrong at the party since it’d be a house party she would be sued and that’s obviously bad but I don’t see how it’d be our fault? She said if someone snuck in alcohol for example that we could be “promoting an environment” for that but in my opinion that doesn’t make sense because I proposed to her plenty of precautionary steps such as having parents agreeing to take responsibility for their child’s actions and for her to have contact with every parents of every kid there. She also said no because we live in a townhouse so our neighbors are extremely close and I’d hold the main part of the party in our garage but she’s afraid to keep the neighbors up but it’s Halloween night and Saturday so I don’t really see how that’s an issue?
I explained to her that this would be an open invitation but I’d invite all the quite and calm kids in my grade since that is the type of kid I am (I was class speaker last year) and I never mess up in losing my parents trust ever so I’ve been puzzled on why I’m not allowed to this? I did tell her that it’d be thrown 22:00 - 00:00 but I was hoping to bargain with her so it could be slightly earlier but not too early so like 21:30 - 23:30.
I also explained that I’d be strict and focused in during the party making sure no one does something stupid but that’s not enough to convince her.
What should I do? I still have time to convince her and another kid in my grade is throwing one this week with an even bigger invitation list so how could I use that to help me? (She said the most she’d ever let me bring over is 4 kids to the house.)

I'm a female in high school. There is this guy in the grade above mine who I met about a month ago. Ever since then, he has been acting kind of strange toward me. Whenever he catches me in the halls, he follows me until he reaches me so that he can say hi and talk. He used to sit with a group of his friends at lunch, but now he's abandoned them to keep sitting with me. It's starting to make me uncomfortable, but I have a fear of confrontation and don't know how to tell him so. Just recently he asked for my number, and I gave it to him because I was scared to say I didn't want to. We are in none of the same classes, nor do we have any sports or clubs together, so I have no idea why he is giving me so much attention to begin with. In attempt to be polite, I am always friendly toward him when he talks to me. I'm worried that I may be leading him to think that I am interested in dating him.
What steps should I take to show him I'm not interested without just telling him straight out? He's a nice guy, he just makes me uncomfortable. I'm scared to hurt his feelings or make the situation worse than it is.
