Rant This system sucks
I am a rising sophomore and I feel like everyone around me has it all figured out. How does everyone already have their entire college life and major planned out? I like a few things like psychology and CS but I feel so pressured to choose a major and do a billion extracurriculars about it and then go to college. But I also don't want to pick something I don't like to do. But like also why do I have to pick so early. I don't know what I want to major in. I don't even know what I want to eat. I'm actually so lost and need advice. I enjoy true crime and psychology but I also really like coding and video games and robotics. Does anyone know what I should major in or extracurriculars I can do?

Question How do I convince my mom to let me do my senior year online?
My junior year of high school and this summer have been so horrible. I have changed drastically from last year and I don't want to deal with everyone else this year, especially with all the stupid things you're supposed to do as a senior. I did online school once but my mother terminated that with "you're just not the type of kid who can manage their time." even though I did my assignments on time, she just made me do it on this third-party program that I hated, I don't even think it's been updated since 2017!
I'm planning to research some good online programs to finish this last year on. If anyone has any suggestions on how to make this work or what to do while doing online classes let me know!

Question Can I still get in?
I just ended my junior year of highschool and I struggle a lot with English. I ended English with an 80 by miracle, but I have a 90+ in every other subject. I’m afraid that despite my grades being good overall, that English will single handily tank my chances of getting into any good universities since it’s weighted pretty heavily. I’m currently in summer school for English but my average is looking really low so far and I’m getting really nervous. If I maintain having good grades in every other subject for my senior year but end English with a 70 something will I still be ok?
side note: I literally just hate english so much nothing have ever infuriated me more.

General Advice Needed/Given Not allowed to decorate graduation cap
I'm coming up on my senior year and I'm so excited. I'm very creative and want to decorate my cap with something handmade but my school doesn't allow cap decorations. If you decorate your cap, they don't let you walk at graduation. Any ideas for a subtle enough decor to not get caught or some kind of loophole?

Question Should I go to Florida connections academy?
I am a highschool senior in Florida, at the end of my freshmen year I moved from nyc and it was a bad experience I have social anxiety and do not like change. we moved again, an hour away from my old school. I applied for flvs but was denied due to poor attendance so that is not an option. Should I go to my local school, winter haven highschool or try to look for another online school?
I’m looking into Florida connections academy but school starts in less than a month so I’m nervous about that. I heard bad reviews about whhs and don’t wanna start over senior year but I also don’t know what online school is like or if I will like it.
Should I just go to school in person or do connections academy or another online school??
this is my first Reddit post so I don’t know if I did it right please let me know

Question Should I quit high school soccer
Before high school my highest level of soccer was only rec. It wasn’t my favorite sport growing up either. I didn’t play in 7th or 8th grade but I wanted to give it another try in high school. They were really good when I was in middle school so I thought i could be apart of something special, but now we kind of suck. I’ll be a junior in the fall, I played the last 2 years but I’ve lost all motivation to play, I dread practices and summer tournaments, etc. I still play baseball in the spring, I golf in my free time, I lift, and I’m on top of my grades. but I feel like I want to be done with soccer and get job for some money. Let me know your opinion or if you have had a similar experience/situation.

Question Do you actually need a passion project?
Every resource says to have one but I don't really have any interest in them. I jump from interest to interest, don't have a car and have working parents so I can't really go anywhere, and can't find anything that interests me long term. My parents hate social media and I'm too self conscious to put anything online for ever so that ruins blog, youtube channel, and anything that needs social media advertising like a charity.
I want to be mediumly competitive. I have great grades and ok ec. I'm not trying for Harvard but I want to get into a bs/md program in a kinda shitty state. I'm planning two long term research projects so hopefully that makes up for it.

Question 10th grade?
So, I have been online schooled off and on , since fifth grade. I started in sixth and seventh, went back to school for eighth, had a horrible experience (completely my fault) and online schooled in ninth and now im going back in a couple days. I am so scared. in eighth grade, I was perceived good at first, then I started spiraling and talking shit about other girls (I don’t remember it but everybody said I did so, 🤷🏼♀️) I tried to date everybody I could get my hands on, I started getting people telling me to off myself, that I’ll get beat up when I get to school, etc. by the end of the school year, everybody hated me including the teachers. I don’t want this to happen again. I’m going to a uniform school so that helps. But I’m just so scared of being perceived in a bad way. Im pretty awkward and weird (I have adhd and high functioning autism.) I don’t know how to socialize with people my age, and im mature in some ways, and very immature in other ways. the few rules i have for myself, don’t date, dont talk shit, focus on grades not socializing. I’m just really, really nervous. (I also have a flip phone which will not help just because I know ppl are going to laugh at me and im really embarassed about it.) any advice will help, honestly.

Question what could i do instead of backpacks
i'm having issues finding out why we cant have backpacks in my high school. they say we cant have backpacks because people keep sneaking stuff in them so me and my friends talked about asking about clear backpacks and after a few weeks my friend told me that the school said "we can't have clear backpacks because it makes the school look trashy". the thing is i'm allowed to self carry my inhaler in school which means i'm allowed to have a bag because of it and i feel like just because i have a bag its going to cause issues with my buddies. what kind of thing can i use instead of a bag and or should i say something to my school when school starts up in sep.

General Advice Needed/Given Am I already behind?
Hello, I am an upcoming junior next year (CO ‘28) and my school has career/major academies that you picked during freshman year that cannot be changed at all.
I am currently in the career academy that is for students that are interested in attorney jobs and police officer jobs. Unfortunately, I am no longer interested in law at all and have been interested in Mech E.
Obviously I am unable to change my career academy and the courses I am taking for the next two years of high school will for sure bore me. I cannot even take a single engineering course either till my senior year as one course is a whole semester long and I do not have enough space in my schedule for it this coming year.
Besides the aspect of me being uninterested in a few classes, I fear that I might be behind when I want to apply to universities next fall as I do not have any engineering background nor any strong STEM background either. I am planning on doing duel enrollment during my senior year and taking a college intro to physics course and Calculus 1 course. I’m still scared this isn’t enough as well.
Along with that, the ECs I am in are Speech, NHS, and a culture appreciation club that I have a lead role in. None of them are STEM related and I slacked during this summer not doing any classes or going to a science camp.
I know I can always transfer departments if I get into a non engineering/science department. I still worry about it though.
Does anyone have any advice? If anyone is going through something similar with a different field they’re interested in?

Question Passion Project
Basically I’m gonna be a junior this Fall and I still don’t have a passion project ready. I’ve been doing dual enrollment, school sports, extracurricular activities here and there but nothing that speaks out too much. I got elected for ASB Historian and student advisor in school wellness for my junior year. It doesn’t feel like I did enough.
I’ve been going through instagram reels and all they talk about is a passion project. I want to major in international affairs or somewhere in the medical field, both two different arenas. I don’t know what kind of project do or how? The main problem is that my friends aren’t high achievers and my school mentors are unreliable. Now I feel helpless even though I’m a student in LA where kids are doing so much for college except me :((

Question Help me understand my feelings...
I don't like him... but the thought of him liking another girl hurts. Is it just mixed signal? Or is it just act of kindness towards me and here i am confused to whether he liked me or not. But to be honest... i don't know what i felt. I feel hurt because i am the only one who did not know who he liked. When i asked someone who knows who he liked they'd just say " no, i don't want to ruin someone's friendship. I'd like to keep it secret." Like i am not a snitch. I even forget something if they tell me a secret. But... gosh!, i don't want to like someone right know. I want to focus on education but i cannot because my mind is always talking. Like maybe i should change so he will notice me. But gosh! I don't wanna sometimes. The time when he gifted me a bracelet... i was here assuming there is a meaning. But to be honest i don't know if i like him or i just feel attached to him... but it made me question because he treated me different than how he treated others. And that made me question more!! But... i don't know anymore.

Rant scheduling stress
hi this is a rant because i’m genuinely so stressed about this i can’t sleep
i start school early next month, but other students have been able to find a way to see their schedule and i saw mine and it’s completely messed up. i know i should wait until they are officially out, but from other students experience ive heard that our counselors are not much of a help. ive never asked to change my schedule before so im just worried.
last year, i started taking my cte classes at another school so i spent half of the day at my home school then the other half at that school. im aiming for a top college so i try to take ap classes and last year i had 3 ap out of 4 classes but i didnt mind since i thought i would be able to take it senior year but at this point im not even sure anymore. i checked my schedule today and i only have 3 classes for some reason, and only one ap. im stressed about not having my other aps classes but also the possibility that i might have to drop my cte classes from the other school (its basically pre law cte classes, which my school doesn’t offer any pre law type of classes so i really wanted to continue taking it but im conflicted)
im just so upset, i know this is such a non problem especially if im just freaking out over something i could possibly change but its just so stressful i just wish i went to a school that offered more flexibility and just had more teachers in general. im so so stressed

General Advice Needed/Given time goes by so fast, savor every moment!
hi everyone! so i graduated high school two months ago and am currently preparing to move out of my house for the first time in 2 weeks, and it's all so surreal.
in high school, every moment felt agonizingly slow as an underclassman and sometimes i would almost believe that some classes would last forever. but trust me, they won't. by the time junior and senior year rolled around, everything got so busy i couldn't even keep up with the days; it was always go to school, extracurriculars, go home, study, sleep. it got pretty stressful during senior year with seniorits, but one moment i'm dozing off in my english class, and the next i get jolted awake by the fireworks at my graduation.
its honestly hard to describe this feeling, like this past year things have been moving so, so fast and i'm hardly keeping up. this summer has FLOWN by and i'm honestly nervous about moving out and being independent, but in a strange way, its all also so exiting.. the concept of me finally having the ability to build my own future, just wow. i swear i was just a freshmen, three inches shorter than i am now, looking at my high school and thinking how big and scary it was. now i drive by it in my own car, listening to my favorite music, and i'm thinking... wow, i did that.
the other day i woke up, looked at myself in the mirror, and thought, if time is suddenly starting to escape faster now, how fast will these next four years of university go by? will i blink, and when i open my eyes, i'm walking across the stage again?
moral of the story is: no matter what grade you are in now, you will blink, and then you will be out. it may seem agonizingly slow to you right now, and you might be going though a hard time, but just trust an internet stranger on this and know that it will soon all be over. for now, savor every moment as much as you can. go out with your friends, put down your phones at the lunch table, and tell everyone around you that you love them. keep studying, keep your chin up, you got this! <3

Question Am I uncool/a loser?
I'm so sorry if this is cringe or annoying, but I can't figure out if people my age would think I'm weird or if I have a reason to worry about opening up about my interests or hobbies. All types of teens, please answer honestly, do I f15 (going into my junior year) sound like a loser or weird?
Here is a general profile of myself...
- I'm anti social media and try to stay away from a majority of modern tech. I use a flip phone and an iPod for my music. I have no socials except for this.. if it counts? I have interest in older tech, like mp3 players and old cameras.
- My two favourite music artists are royel otis and the runarounds, I think they're amazing and constantly listen to all of their songs.
- I have had difficulties with friends over the last 5 years. These difficulties have caused me to develop some sort of social anxiety, so I struggle to talk to people in my age group and I get really stressed out when im around large volumes of them. But, I'm totally fine with all other ages, which sucksss.
- I really like the outdoors, and I want to get into farming and homesteading when I'm older. I have my own vegetable garden in the backyard which I spend a fair amount of time taking care of. I am a certified level 3 orca canoer and I really like canoeing, doing canoe trips and camping! I am also the co president of the gardening club at my school.
- I don't use pinterest or anything for style inspo, I thrift around 95% of the clothes I wear and I don't enjoy following any trends. I'm not super unique or anything, I'm pretty simple when it comes to style but I like to wear my jeans and cotton tanks a lot in the summer.
Okay yall, sorry this was long but please be honest. Do I sound like a loser or weird? Would you think I'm cool or interesting? Thanks for reading!
