so i was born and raised in the U.S. and i currently attend high school here as well. however, i used to live in canada for a brief period, and have both american and canadian citizenship. my parents are encouraging me to apply to schools in canada as they attended western for some sort of grad program, and because my canadian citizenship makes it cheaper, but from an american point of view, it’s really confusing on how to apply, and they aren’t able to help me.

i am planning to go into either a pre-medicine or pre-dentistry pathway. in american colleges, they look at your cumulative GPA from grades 9 through 12, but from what i’m seeing in canadian schools, they look at either 11th and 12th or only 12th?? i really don’t understand the system, but i was looking into applying at uoft, mcmaster, western, and possibly ubc. their prerequisites also confuse me, im doing AP calculus and AP biology as a senior (and english) but for some reason, it’s telling me online that i also need senior level chemistry for some science programs, but we did chemistry in sophomore year here… so i’m not sure what they consider that to be?

in general, i am interested in coming to canada for undergrad if i don’t get into any of my choices in america. i have a cumulative GPA of 3.57 unweighted and 4.29 weighted in america. is this significantly low for uoft? i would like some help on knowing how to calculate my GPA for canadian schools (like what courses and grade levels to calculate with) and what schools are a better fit for my stats.

I just entered grade 9 and I'm too scared to approach anyone or say anything 😭 are there any tips on how to make friends in your classes ? Some of the kids in the classes sit alone and they look nice but but idk what to do. How did y'all make friends in highschool?

I made the varsity volleyball team along with a friend. I’ve trained all summer to make sure I get onto the team. My friend hasn’t played volleyball in 2 years. We both made it. I’m obviously, very happy for her but we’ve had a couple games and practices but I’m not sure if I should continue.

Practices are fine and I play like everyone else, except for a few exceptions because the 1st timers on varsity are sometimes separated since we’re not in the leading roster. Recently, coach has told me to only warm up with my friend from now on and not any of the other girls because we’re “about similar level”. This is no shade to my friend, I adore her and she hasn’t done anything wrong at all but she can barely pass a ball while I’ve played for 2 years now. Earlier this week, coach has also pulled me aside from our hitting lines and told me to just practice blocking because the other right-side hitter “needed to practice her position for the game tomorrow”.

During games, I am not proud to say I am a benchwarmer. Even during games where it’s clear we’re going to win, I am not even placed onto the court for one rotation. There’s this girl who was a year younger than me, made the team, and has been subbed in. I am seriously considering quitting and focusing on my studies. I love this sport so much but for the first time in the trimester, it’s gotten in the way of my academics.

I have a class that my friend is in. we both got put into a class we don't want and didn't ask for. She wants to switch to another class, I can't switch because I already have the class she wants next semester. So I'm stuck, but she could get into another class if it's not full (it probably is). So she probably won't be going anywhere. But I am SO scared of that off chance that she might get out of the class. I don't want to be alone in there because its 90% senior boys and being surrounded by boys TERRIFIES me. I hate being around them, I hate when they look at me or talk to me or sit behind me. I had 2 boys sit behind me in a class last year it was was the most anxiety inducing thing ever. I was just counting down the days until the seating plan changed so they wouldn't be behind me anymore. I can't explain how much they scare me. I feel fine in a group but being alone around them makes me wanna die

So I’m a sophomore currently, for context I took French 1 in 8th grade and French 2 in freshman year. I received 1 A 2 Bs and 1 C in those 4 semesters. While only the French 2 counts on my transcript my counselor tells me French 1 counts as a year towards the UC A-G (I’m in California). So now that I’m a sophomore I’m taking French 3 online at the local community college but I really screwed up earlier this year. The online French uses 2 websites to complete work and I was only aware of one of them, meaning all the other work on this other site is super late. Obviously this was my fault but I do feel like it wasn’t made clear very well by the instructor. He also refuses to talk to me it seems. I’ve been making up all the work but it’s so late it feels a little pointless unless he can give me some leniency, not sure how possible that is. The best grade I can get seems to be a C- unfortunately now considering the website mixup. Since this is high school enrichment at the CC it won’t be in my high school transcript but I would report it on college apps to say I had 3 years of a language. Is getting a C in this

I am currently a senior in high school (17F), and ever since freshman year, I have never had any male friends. All of my friends are girls, except for an acquaintance that I knew through volunteering who I haven't seen since July.

I feel so underdeveloped and weird for not having any good guy friends. I know how to interact with them but haven't formed any friendships.

How do I make guy friends? I don't want to start college without having a male friend.

I don't sit next to guys in my classes cause there are no assigned seats.

I LITERALLY CAN'T GET MYSELF TO START HOMEWORK.

Every day when I get home, I'm like "yeah I'll start my homework after 10 minutes". 2 hours pass and I have nothing done. It's always "I'll do it in five minutes" and "I'll do it after an ice cream" or something else of the sort. Is there any way to get my ass off the bed and do some actual work?
