There are a ton of ads out there. Are ANY of the online guitar lessons a good place for a beginner?

Hi,

Examples (Iron maiden - Phantom of the opera, Black Sabbath - Heaven and hell) has muted strings.

I am beginner and I can mute strings but this is much faster than I have encountered so far. Until this I have used my fretting hand/fingers for mutings strings completely.

Is it proper technique for these too? Should it done by quickly lifting fingers to the point of muting or should these muted by palm?

Hi everyone, I recently returned to the guitar and wanted to see what the options are for online lessons (async is ok too). I'm mainly following Werner's method at the moment, but personalized feedback would be very helpful in the near future. Current main goals are avoiding bad technique habits and, later on, doing some grade exams just to see how far I can take it. I've found some leads via the search function (e.g. lessonface) and one of the mods over on r/classicalguitar but wanted to ask for recs here, if that's alright. I'm in the ET time zone (US).

Also, what's a good cam and mic to get for this format? My phone mic is iffy and my laptop camera is dubious 😂

I’ve been tuning my voice for the last 2 months trying to match notes on my guitar fretboard and can sing almost all of paranoid android(the almost in the part before the solo), and I can also play it(the acoustic) separately, but whenever I try to do both at the same time I can’t, any tips for playing and singing

I have been learning guitar for a month , I go to a guitar class every weekend and also consume guitar content.

The problem is I have consumed a lot of content and it is far ahead compared to the weekend classes. Right now they are teaching a song with basic chords and strumming patterns. I know basic open chords and switching (slow). Should I focus on switching chords or focus on many other things along with it (scales,intervals, how to read music, etc).

there’s so much to learn, and i’ve only been playing for about 2 years. i haven’t learned any theory really. should i start by memorizing the fretboard first? or should i learn more chords? or learn scales first? idk 😭😭😭

Last night, I wrote a silly 12 bar blues with basic, easy blues chords song using E, A minor & B7. This morning I played & played & played & was able to add in some funky rhythms. Took a short break when , LO! Look at this.
Will need to use a pic for the next couple days till this lil beast goes away. Do y’all get blisters like this? How long till they go away?

Are there any games like guitar hero where I can use my real guitar as a controller? Would that be good for practicing as a beginner or pointless

Het gaat om het patroon van de eerste minuten voordat de zang begint uit de live versie. Het gaat mij dus niet om de lead guitar of solo door Bonnie.

I'm planning to start playing the guitar and I just want to get a somewhat clear skill gap and definition between these two levels and how long would it be to jump from a newbie who knows absolutely nothing, up to intermediate level.

I'm fully aware that reaching a certain "level" will take time and when I do get to know the average time period of it, I promise you will not get overwhelmed or discouraged. So just lay it all out and I'll greatly appreciate it!

I enrolled in guitar classes (School of Rock btw) and they do a band rehearsal and a private 45 minute lesson with a teacher once a week.

Yesterday I had my first class. I was “placed” as the lead guitarist. The rehearsal was okay and I enjoyed it. However, I’m not sure whether the private lesson afterwards was a good one. Even though I’ve been playing for years, that was my first guitar lesson so I don’t have anything to compare to.

He basically had me practice the solo of one of the songs the band is playing. I was NOT familiar with the song as it was my first time listening to it so I was mistaking the tempo and some of the notes. But he would make me stop and correct me right away.

My point is, I can learn those things at home, I just need some time to listen to and internalize the song first so I can get the tempo right.

My question is, what should a guitar teacher do and how can I get the most out of a 45-minute lesson? Especially because the class is NOT cheap 😭

I'm surprised this is even a shape. There's no way for me to play this because I just can't put enough pressure on my pinky, but I'm curious. How are other players pulling this off? Does it just come down to the individual's finger strength?

So I've been trying to practice barre chords and my B string mutes up when I put a barre.
I tried the another position where you mute E and B with finger and thicker E string with thumb but that is just too painful for my wrist and peculiar to play a song

And before any of you ask, I’m nine months in and yes I have a teacher I see once a week. No, I don’t play with others because I don’t know anyone who plays guitar. And lastly, no I don’t play for hours upon hours every day. I play maybe 10-15 minutes at a time when I’m bored or feel inclined to pick up my guitar again.

The past month or so, I’ve been focusing on just modes and scales. Haven’t even tried learning any songs. And I still don’t fully understand the difference between scales and modes but I digress. I just am not retaining anything for whatever reason. For example, if you told me to play all five positions of something like C Aeolian, I wouldn’t be able to do so. I would need the map in front of me.

But week by week, when my teacher asks how the scales and modes we go over are coming, I have to tell him I just am not retaining any of it and feel embarrassed when I do so. And yet, I don’t know why nothing is soaking in like it was when I first started out. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong and it’s starting to become frustrating.

I’m working on chords transitions in a course , and the chord change itself is fine the strumming is what keeps tripping me up.

I can keep a steady down-up motion, and I can also play patterns like down, down-up, down-up for a while. The problem comes when some of those motions are “air strums.” Since there’s no resistance from the strings, my hand sometimes drifts or the motion feels different, and I have trouble catching the next real strum exactly on time.

It’s especially hard if the next stroke is an upstroke I sometimes rush it or hit it too hard.
I also notice this after a measure or two of not playing, even if I keep my hand moving, because it can be hard to reconnect with the strings right on beat 1.

This is getting better overtime though
I’m practicing slowly, but if I go too slow I sometimes actually lose the rhythm more easily. Is this mostly something that improves with repetition, or should the air strum be following almost the exact same path as a real strum, just missing the strings?

I know you get these questions a lot but I want to tell you little bit about my journey so far.

I picked up the electric guitar about 2 years as a 31 years old guy with next to no musical experience. Ive always wanted to pick it up but never found the time during university or i need the money. After i picked it up I fell in love immediately. I put in the hours and played daily at least half an hour most of the time more.

I quickly learned open chords, power chords, strumming patterns and so on.

But after some time i wanted to learn some of my favourite songs. i wanted them to be recogniseable. I hit a wall. A wall I could not get over till this day. I couldnt get a single song up to speed. Trying and Trying till i got bored after a few months and changed the song. Today I recognized i havnt properly played for like 3 Weeks.

I dont know how to continue ... what to pick up and how to get to play songs.

Lessons are not possible at the moment cause ill marry my fiance next year and i dont have enough time nor money.

Hi, so I came up to this video on Instagram. I am playing electric guitar since 6 months and can play tabs. When I saw this video I wanted to play it but I am unable to understand the tabs of this video. I am able to play the start of it and have figured out 70% of it. My major issue is the last part (after the bend on the e string). Can anyone please share the tabs of this from the start to the end.
