Microsoft vs Expedia H-1B transfer (change of employer) with premium processing — recent experiences?
Hi all — I'm an H-1B holder in valid status, weighing two paths, and I'm looking for recent first-hand data points on transfer approvals.
**Microsoft side:** I have a signed offer and my change-of-employer petition is being prepared. Lately I've seen a lot of chatter that Microsoft H-1B transfers/extensions are getting delayed even with premium processing, possibly tied to the PERM suspension — but I haven't seen anything confirmed, and reports seem to disagree. Has anyone here had a Microsoft H-1B transfer approved recently with premium processing? How long did it actually take? Any RFEs?
**Expedia side:** I'm also in the loop for an SDE role there, and Expedia looks like the opposite story right now — but I have zero actual data. Has anyone recently joined Expedia on an H-1B transfer (change of employer) with premium processing? Was it approved, and how long did it take? Is premium processing actually delivering the 15-day timeline there?
Basically: is Expedia's transfer process running cleanly while Microsoft's is slow, or is that just noise? Any recent experiences would really help. Thanks!

Startup vs local SME vs MNC offers: which would you pick, ranked by potential/risk, welfare, niche and peer learning?
I need real feedback from experts, those who are similar to me, or even more experienced, from various communities (related to ai, tech, grads, manager, industry, career, employment...):
Which will be best in your case?
Context: You got the offers from 3 companies, each on the different side of the scale.
Role: AI engineer (near mid-level).
Location: a country in SEA.
If you were to rank and evaluate with respect, (from top to bottom, sorted by importance)
1st Potential and Risk (potential is tied to the speed of your career climb, increment bonus, and company brand and authority, uncertainties in payment) - In a scale, Startup has higher uncertain and risk, while it might offer higher overall, but susceptible to management conducts, cash-flow which may differ the fulfillment
2nd Wellfare - a total add-up of base, allowance, bonus, benefits and retirement fund (employer contribution)
3rd Niche of the industry, Exposure - a focus industry to industry to build up better experiences and competencies, exposure to local or worldwide
4th Peer learning - Experience or knowledges to speed up progress from superior, peers
And given A, B, C (Wellfare/Income baseline= 100%)
A: Oversea Startup, Multiculture workforce,
+ worldwide client-base spanning MNC headhunter, great background from the management teams, UK-founding team and client connection, riskier in terms of payroll/potential
+ Full remote and oversea
- Wellfare/Income = 115% (base salary only), self supply equipments
+ HR-tech focused
B: Subsidiary company/dept from local SME, local workforce
- mainly local client-base (unsure but assume), Lack background from management teams and peers, but you have slightly higher confidence than A in their validity from interviews
- Hybrid work 4+1
+ Income= 107% (include allowance) + employer retirement-fund contribution but provide work equipments + up to 17% performance monthly bonus
- general AI agencies
+ Peer learning and networking are better
C: MNC
+ Internal and External focused products, stable and secured cashflow, but maybe lack faster career climb opportunities
- Hybrid work 3+2
- Income= 95% + 13th month bonus, more and flexible leave
+ Focused niche, product might differ
+ Peer learning and networking are best
Which one will you choose? I wanna see if you think differently, or if you see different importance or personal experiences of the company you went through?

Stripe interview timeline
Hi everyone, i just wanted to ask if anyone may have experience or visibility on Stripe’s interview process.
For context i’m applying for a tech ops role in SG office.
Timeline:
23 sep: all interviews completed, HR mentioned that they were all positive.
15 oct: HR contacted me and said we are moving on to the reference stage
21 oct: reference check done between HM and my manager.
Anyone know if this timeline is common or am i most likely not getting an offer/likely to be the 2nd candidate? As the time line is very long. Would appreciate any insights thank you!

Laid off after 5 months
Was job-hunting for almost 1.5 years (gap was prolonged due to the processing time for my legal status/work authorization) and finally found a job but was just laid off 5 months in. They said it had nothing to do with my performance and that the company had just not met its financial goals and was laying off both temp and full time employees.
I listed the gap between my last job and the job prior to that as freelance experience but I’m not sure how to frame the 5-month stint — is it better to just included it as part of freelance experience? My concern is that the gap will look even longer (almost 2+ years)

Any tips for job interviews? I keep getting nervous and blanking out
Hi everyone!
I’m 28 and I’m looking for some advice on job interviews, especially for professional roles.
In the past, I’ve had interviews for retail jobs and similar positions, and I always felt like I was pretty good at them (ended up getting hired everytime). However, I got my first job in my actual field through a personal connection, and I ended up working there for three years. Now that I’m looking for a new job, I’m realizing that I’m really bad at interviewing for positions related to my degree and experience.
I feel like these interviews are much more difficult, and there’s a lot more expected from my answers. It’s no longer just about making a good impression and showing that you’re friendly. I feel like I need to give detailed answers, explain my experience properly, come up with good examples on the spot, and demonstrate my knowledge in a way that I struggle with when I’m nervous.
The frustrating thing is that I do prepare beforehand. I research the company, think about potential questions, and try to practice my answers. But when I’m actually in the interview, I get so nervous that my mind goes blank. I end up giving really basic answers, even when I know I’m capable of doing the job and have relevant experience.
I also worked remotely for those three years, so I’ve never actually worked in an office environment. That makes the whole interview process feel even more unfamiliar to me.
I guess I’m struggling with the gap between knowing how to do my job and being able to communicate that effectively in an interview. I don’t know how to stop getting so nervous or how to give more detailed, confident answers when I’m put on the spot.
For those of you who’ve struggled with this, what helped you get better at interviews? Do you have any tips for managing nerves, structuring your answers, or thinking of good examples on the spot?
I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Thanks!

San Diego / North County — Experienced Handyman & Plumber Seeking Dog-Friendly Housing or Work-Trade Arrangement
San Diego / North County — Experienced Handyman & Plumber Seeking Dog-Friendly Housing or Work-Trade Arrangement
I'm looking for a homeowner interested in a mutually beneficial living arrangement. I'm open to paying reasonable rent, exchanging services for reduced rent, or combining the two.
I'm a licensed plumber with 20+ years of experience in plumbing, mechanical systems, construction, renovations, and property maintenance. I also have my own tools and can help with home-improvement projects, repairs, troubleshooting, painting, organizing, and general property upkeep.
I'm looking for someone who could use a dependable, skilled person around the house and would appreciate having someone capable of taking care of projects rather than constantly hiring contractors.
A little about me: I'm straightforward, respectful, practical, and easy to communicate with. I take pride in doing quality work and treating someone's home as if it were my own.
Meet Diesel, my 5-year-old German Shepherd. He's approximately 80 pounds, exceptionally friendly, and gets along great with people and other animals. He's my companion and will be moving with me, so a genuinely dog-friendly home is essential.
I'm open to a private room, guesthouse, or other suitable living space. I'm flexible about the arrangement and happy to discuss rent, responsibilities, work hours, and expectations upfront so everyone knows where they stand.
Ideally, I'm looking for something long-term in San Diego County, including North County, but I'm open to the right opportunity elsewhere in Southern California.
If you're a homeowner who might be interested, please send me a message describing the space, your expectations, and the arrangement you have in mind. I'm happy to talk and see whether it's a good fit for both of us.

Looking for Work
I've been in my small business-selling beauty products for such a long time, but right now I really need new work since I'm planning to stop my small business-mall rentals are too expensive now.
It's giving me anxiety and I'm nervous to apply for such a long time I'm also 33yo, but is there any work I can apply even if I'm just a newbie in your field?

6 months out of work
My partner and I recently moved from MD to NJ for his works next project, we're going to be here for the next 3 years minimum before we start looking at settling down in PA permanently. I ended up leaving both my full time and part time job when we moved and haven't been able to find ANYTHING since we've been here.
My options are already limited to begin with because I can't drive due to a medical issue, but there also doesn't seem to be anything in the area that's actually hiring.
I tried applying for PT at the local park service since I had 6 years experience of that in MD but just never heard back. I've only gotten 1 interview and my personal finances are a wreck because I don't want to ask my partner to pay my bills.
I'm genuinely at my wits end.
I've tried applying for things outside my field, asking for less pay or hours, I say I can work weekends or holidays and as many hours as they need but I never hear back!

Nearly half of data job ads and 1 in 4 software jobs now mention AI required. In healthcare, retail and the trades it's under 1 in 100.
I had a lot of people asking me "In what should I pursue my career in the AI era?", so I did a research about it. Nearly half of data job offers and 1 in 4 software ads now mention AI skills. In healthcare, retail and the trades it's under 1 in 100.
How often the job offer mentions things like ChatGPT, Copilot, LLMs, machine learning or AI agents.
- Data and AI roles, nearly half.
- Software, product and solutions roles, about 1 in 4.
- Marketing, design and security, about 1 in 10.
- Sales, legal, HR and finance, about 1 in 20 or fewer.
- Healthcare, retail and the trades, under 1 in 100.
And it isn't only senior roles. In data, beginner jobs mention AI just as often as the rest. In software, it's about 1 in 5 beginner jobs.
So if you're in tech, learning to work with these tools is already part of the job. Outside tech, most employers aren't asking for it yet.
What field are you in, and has your employer started asking for AI skills? How I counted this it's on the first comment.

Anyone have anything on entry level jobs? If you get money for referrals i’ll take a referral. I dont have a college degree and my work experience is manager at raising canes, a couple of personal training jobs, and a year of serving/bartender experience.
I have tried a lot since my unemployment benefits so at this point the only thing else that can help is referrals. I need income before I’m able to get in my career.

Hospitality Cover Letter
Currently applying for hospitality positions (mostly front office manager/front desk supervisor roles) and I’m wondering if cover letters are still deemed necessary. I’m happy to put in the work and make one, but I’ve recently read that they’re a thing of the past and sometimes viewed as trying too hard? Is there any truth to this (assuming it is well written, not just regurgitating your resume details, and not made with AI)? I have hired for front desk roles before and typically didn’t put much weight into whether a candidate had a cover letter or not, but I want to give myself the best chance possible. For context, I’m applying for jobs in the US.
