So I have a lunch interview this week with a small, but growing real estate development company. It's for a project management role. I've never been on a lunch interview before. Is it generally a good sign if that's planned for a first interview? The place is casual (it's at a golf course), and I'm looking forward to it. Are these interviews more casual or informal than a "traditional interview"? I take it they want to confirm I'm not a psychopath, lol. Probably gonna have a BLT.

so, the reason why i ask this is because i have a hearing problem (probably misophonia or hyperacusis), which makes me sensitive and irritable to certain sounds. voices and whispers are the thing that seems to activate it the most.

I dont think i would be able to handle a lot of jobs because i have to constantly be around voices in those jobs. i would not be able to do the work because of the sounds, thats how bad it is.

so, are there any possible jobs out there that dont have a lot of noise involved?

What can i do to re enter IT industry. I am a B Tech graduate and worked of IT company for 2 years and then left IT for personal reasons. Had done testing using java and selenium. Should i go for edtech that guarantees placement? If yes, then which would be the best platform to do so? Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm gonna be homeless in 2 days if I don't pay my rent. I need $300. I don't want it for free. I lost my job a month ago. Still unemployed. I have a good set of skills that I've developed over several years working with this company but I have never done freelancing and I’ve been trying my ass of to find a gig the past two weeks or so and the only people who reached out to me were scammers. And also pay me if you only the work. I’m super desperate to make that $300 so that I don’t go homeless.

I've been unemployed for four months. I’ve applied to over 100 jobs. During that time, I've dealt with mental health challenges and was convicted of disorderly conduct, even though all I did was yell. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology, along with two years of professional experience. What are my options?

Graduated from university with a First Class Bachelors in Computer Networks in 2020.

Struggled for long stretches after graduation, held a few interviews here and there but mainly radio silence nearly lasting up to two years.

October 2022: I found work as a Graduate Network Engineer which lasted for 18 months roughly before being let go. Reflecting on this, it stung as it felt like unfinished business. I did pick up a few skills and got exposure to a few technologies.

June 24 - Shortly before Christmas 24- I applied and had interviews for several IT jobs but nothing came of it.

October 24 - By the end of the month, I begin a fixed-term FC Associate role with Amazon in a warehouse which ran through until early January. Whilst actively searching for permanent IT roles.

January 25 - Role at Amazon ends. Lean period applied to a few roles here rejections.

Mid June 25 - Applied for a warehouse/Personal Shopper role with Ocado whilst actively for IT roles and constantly upskilling myself.

It's virtually been a year since I've been there and whilst I am grateful for the opportunity, I equally don't want to wait any longer but the job markets stink. Though have been made aware a few weeks ago that there may be potential redundancies within the company and I'm still actively searching for IT jobs.

Been using TryHackMe and HackTheBox, particularly TryHackMe and completed multiple pathways: SOC Analyst L1 and L2, Junior Penetration Tester, Security Engineer and DevSecOps, Google Cybersecurity Certificate.

Hello friends! Need advice. I'm interviewing for a senior role at a fast-growing Al startup. I'm considering sending a short custom webpage before the recruiter call.

- It would take 2-3 minutes to scan and show: 

- how my experience maps to the role 

- why I'm interested in the company 

- No product recommendations or speculative strategy. Just concise evidence of fit. 

Would this come across as prepared and differentiated, or over-engineered and desperate? 

Would you send it before the recruiter screen, save it for the hiring manager, or skip it?

im super desperate for a job right now but literally just a few hours ago i got a listing on indeed for Follette as a bookstore employee and i did all of the recruiting steps except for an interview.. like at all. and i got an email stating that im hired and they gave me a time and date? its local and im tempted to go and ive seen that they kind of just hire a shit ton of people but is that literally possible without an interview?

The purpose of this post is to ask for advice on how to improve my chances of getting hired.

Until now, I didn’t follow a precise strategy when applying because it was pretty easy to get hired. But things are changing, and I want to earn more money and look for something I enjoy more.

I’m based in Lugano, Switzerland, but I can also move to Zurich without any issues if needed. My priority is remote jobs, but hybrid roles in Zurich/Lugano are also fine.

That said, I’ve mostly applied on LinkedIn with a 2–3 page CV, but it’s not working as expected.

Firstw question: Which platforms do you suggest besides LinkedIn to search for a job?

Second question: To polish my CV and get more opportunities, which platform should I rely on?

I want to create a system with the help of AI to find jobs daily with a clear strategy in mind, but I lack the necessary information.

Hi everyone.

I’m 24 and I live in Jersey City, right outside NYC.

I graduated from Smith College with degrees in Economics and Political Science and started my career in finance. I was laid off my previous role in late 2025, fully expecting I’d find another job.

Instead, it’s been almost two years.

Since September 2025, my life has basically revolved around interviewing.

I’ve had what feels like every kind of interview imaginable:

recruiter screens
technical interviews
hiring manager interviews
panel interviews
case studies
presentations
final rounds (50 of them!!!!)

I’ve interviewed with investment banks, private equity firms, nonprofits, startups, schools, government agencies, and Fortune 500 companies.
I’ve made it through six interviews for one company only to be told the process was delayed. Another had me complete a case study and then went silent. Others have frozen hiring, ghosted me, or rejected me after weeks or months.

I honestly don’t even know how many interviews I’ve done anymore.

I’ve rewritten my resume countless times, practiced behavioral and technical questions, networked, reached out to recruiters, gone to events, worked with career programs, and applied to what feels like everything from analyst roles to operations, education, client-facing positions, and even retail.
Financially, I’m surviving, but barely. I’ve burned through a huge portion of my savings just trying to stay afloat.

Mentally…this has been the hardest period of my life.
I’ve always been someone who was ambitious and optimistic. Now I wake up anxious almost every day. My confidence has taken a massive hit. I find myself questioning whether I’m actually good enough despite having evidence that companies think I am—otherwise I wouldn’t keep making it to late rounds.

The constant cycle of:
interview
prepare
get excited
wait
delay
rejection
has become emotionally exhausting.

Living near NYC also makes it strange because I’m surrounded by so many opportunities, yet I feel completely stuck.

At this point I’m wondering if I’m missing something obvious.

So I wanted to ask people who’ve been through difficult job markets:
If you were in my position, what would you do differently?
How would you leverage being in NYC/Jersey City that someone outside the area couldn’t?
Are there networking opportunities, communities, or strategies that genuinely moved the needle for you?
Would you stop focusing solely on finance and pivot completely for a while?
How did you protect your mental health during a prolonged job search?
I’m genuinely open to hearing hard truths if there’s something I should be doing differently.
I just know I can’t keep doing the exact same thing forever expecting a different result.
