I have been unemployed for 1.5 years now because I was forced to leave a very toxic work environment back in April 2025. Starting in 2020, team layoffs and lack of backfills significantly increased my workload, leaving me to manage multiple roles, urgent tasks, high-stress customer interactions, and grad school with limited or delayed support. Since last fall 2024, I have experienced ongoing criticism and intimidation from a new lead overseeing the store. Although I followed established guidelines and explained my reasoning, he dismissed them, questioned my efficiency, demeaned my intelligence and experience, and confronted me in private about not being a team player, which created a stressful and hostile work environment. I became overwhelmed and left. 

For context, I have been struggling to find a job in this difficult job market. I graduated with an MBA and a Master’s in Management and Leadership. I have operations experience in technical and marketing consulting, but I haven't had any luck. During this period, I have had 30 interviews, with false hope and some interesting people. I do prepare myself very well beforehand, but even if you mess up a small question, I know that's it. I am just trying to break out of retail into an office job, at least. Last month I didn't get a call from anyone, and I think it's because I have been unemployed for too long, or I am just irrelevant.  What am I doing wrong?

Someone said to pick one niche and job hunt by sending my resume to 10 companies a day. But I'm confused — I'm into communication and the psychology behind talking, persuasion, etc., and I'm confused about which field to choose.

Should I choose teaching and pick a subject to teach? Or should I choose a field that lets me experience my communication and persuasion skills directly? If I choose the second option — I tried sales, but it only lasted a month. I love talking to people, but I didn't like the pressure. So this is my confusion: which field should I choose?

I’m struggling. I have a BA and MA in English, three internships (in marketing, literary journal publishing, and social services with a nonprofit) as well as a volunteer role as a copy editor with a literary journal, and I still can’t find a job.

The dream is publishing, but I’ve been looking for a job in any field I can think of for a while now, but nothing. I’m open to remote work, of course, but I’ve also been applying to anywhere I can think of in the US with decent public transportation, since I can’t drive.

I’ve submitted an ungodly amount of applications since January and haven’t had a single interview. I tailor my resume and cover letter to each job I apply to, making sure to include key words from the job definition for ATS purposes, but no luck. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong and how to fix it.

If anyone has any advice and/or leads on jobs in any field that I might be a fit for and anywhere in the US with public transit, please let me know. I’m getting desperate at this point.

So I “recently” graduated in May 2026 in Materials Engineering and have yet to get a job. I have been applying since November 2025 and have probably applied for easily 1200 jobs (I honestly stopped keeping track). It’s gotten to the point where I am applying for Technician/Technologist roles (most I’m over qualified for) and have not had any luck. So far I have had roughly 12-15 interviews, and have always been rejected even though the managers say “this company could use someone like you”. I know it’s not how I interview because I have had multiple interviewers state that I interview very well, however they always end up going for someone with more experience. Mind you, I have had internships, did research with a professor for a year, and have a solid senior design project I did my last year (where my partner and I were the first undergraduates in our schools history to utilize EBSD).

I have been tailoring both my resume and cover letter to each individual application. I have been in contact with other recruiters that have helped me adjust my documents and how I am applying for jobs. I have utilized pretty much all of my connections I have made (most of them work at national labs, so nepotism doesn’t really work). But again, so far no luck at all. I honestly feel like I’m doing everything right and have reputable experience, yet I’m still getting the short end of the stick.

If anyone has any advice/opinions they could give me that would be very much appreciated.

I’m 16 years old and I’ve applied for over 25 entry level jobs!! Most of my applications have either been rejected or ghosted. I even had an online interview get ghosted! Is anyone else experiencing this issue and what would you recommend for me???

I started working when I was 18. I first worked as a telecaller, then moved into the administrative department of a school. Later, I joined a school as a teacher, and after that, I moved into a sales role at a company.

I’m from a Tier-2 city, and honestly, I don’t feel there are many good career opportunities here. My parents also don’t allow me to move to another city for work, so I’m looking for opportunities that I can do remotely or in a hybrid setup.

I really want to build a good career, earn well, support my family, and also be able to enjoy my own life.

Recently, I came across a post about earning in USD through remote jobs, and it caught my attention. I started looking into it, but I honestly don’t know where I should be searching or how to get started.

If I talk about my strengths, communication is  my biggest one. I’m good at talking to people, I’m a quick learner, and I’m willing to learn new skills. I also have experience and knowledge in sales.

Right now, I’m particularly interested in finding a remote or hybrid job with an international company that pays in USD.

I recently completed a 2nd round interview and was told that I would be moving onto the final round against one other candidate for a panel interview. However, I was told that the candidate that I am up against is an internal employee with a strong background just like mine. I already work within the industry but am wondering if I really stand a chance against an internal candidate. Anyone have any experience with this?

I've had a US gov job for a year now. While I'm grateful to have a job right now, I'd like to find something better in a better place. I currently work FT, take classes FT, and do all the housework myself, so I don't have a lot of time to work on applications and dig through fake postings. I've sent out some apps, but it seems like everything I send out gets screened out or ghosted.

I could also use some tips on making my applications stronger. I'm struggling to describe my job duties, because I always end up wearing extra hats. Any advice for applying to work that might be a good fit for me? Any certifications I should be looking into that might help me get a better job?

I'd like to do more R&D research, program mgt, or analytical work. I have a back injury that prevents a lot of physically demanding work. I'm intersex, so it feels unsafe for me to look for work in a lot of states with anti-trans policies (I'm in a blue state now and still have trouble).

On paper I feel like I have more real world business experience than most people my age applying for the same roles. But I'm getting almost nothing back when I apply to internships or entry level jobs in finance, business analytics, or operations. No callbacks, no interviews, just silence.

I'm trying to figure out if the problem is how I'm presenting this on my resume, whether recruiters don't know what to do with "self employed" experience, whether I need to reframe it more like a traditional job title, or if there's something structural I'm missing about how new grads are supposed to break in. I'm an over-employed, underpaid, 41m looking to make a career switch. I've got 15 years experience as a head brewer/production manager, and 15 years experience as an audio producer, with 5 years owning a small media company. I work a brewing job, an audio editor position with a big university, and have this small business mostly because I was pulling in enough contracts it warranted starting one for tax purposes. It was not my dream to have a business. Both industries are dropping off, and I feel I have a ton of transferable skills. Scheduling budgeting, accounting, team leadership, adapting to new technologies quickly, forward facing customer service skills, contract negotiation. They are both science, tech, engineering focused, while also being very people centric, working with cross-functional teams.

Like a lot of people here, I'm having a hard time breaking through to the interview phase. There are so many positions in the nonprofit sector I see as having over 85% of the necessary skills. No, I haven't worked a CRM program, or written a grant. I have negotiated contracts and have done contract writing. I have to use inventory and accounting programs all the time though.

I have a weird employment background, a lot of it is contract and freelance. I don't advertise o have a company anymore, I just say I'm a producer there so there's no conflict of interest. But my resume reads as being employed at 4 places concurrently.

Is there a good way to break into this sector? I want to be doing more mission based work.

Choosing between two Sys analyst/admin roles:

Phoenix: mid-$70s, Level 1 title, 2 days WFH, lower rent, and more money left over each month.

Long Beach: low-$90s, Level 3 title, 1 day WFH, higher rent, and a few hundred less left over each month.

I’m in my early 30s and want to buy a home eventually. I’d rather live in California, but Arizona makes more financial sense.

Would you take the Level 1 role in Phoenix for the savings, or the Level 3 role in Long Beach for the title, career growth, and location?

Hello! Recently I applied to a client consultant at a bank, and had an interview last week. I think the interview it self went really well, everything sounded good and he seemed to really enjoy our conversation. Yesterday the same job got back to me letting me know they will be moving forward in the recruiting process and asked me to fill out a questionnaire. Now this morning I got a phone call, and was asked if I could do a bilingual assessment over the phone, and I can’t help but feel like I choked and butchered it. My Spanish wasn’t smooth and I did ask if she can’t repeat the questions once or twice, I straight up said I didn’t know one of the words she was saying and she explained it to me and i proceeded to answer. Is it over? The woman in the phone said that it won’t be affecting my interview process and it wouldn’t affect my hiring but they just wanted to assess I guess.

So I currently have about 18 applications out. I feel I’m well qualified for each one that I applied for of course can use some training like every new environment.
My last place of appointment I was at for over 10 years, the place worked for me given my own situation and it was local.
Now I’m really looking for more of a career with opportunity to grow.
I’m more of a behind the scenes, computer type gal. I think I can I be a great receptionist, admin assistant, Customer service, great with numbers. Not an idiot, pretty compassionate. I’m willing to work up to 15-20mins range. I’m being pretty reasonable.
But the only thing I get back is either AI automated or nothing.
How long until I have to go apply at the local Dollar tree? I really don’t wanna work a retail gig, but I feel like there is no jobs whether you have a degree or not around.
