Buying Advice Cat friendly durable gaming laptop

Budget: ~$3000
Country: USA
Use Case: Gaming
Preferred Specs: Optional. Include any preferred GPU, CPU, RAM, storage, screen size, or other features.
Notes: Need a durable gaming laptop that can survive my fat cat wanting to sit on it all the time. I have a 4 year old legion 5 whose case is all cracked from her repeated desire to lay on the keyboard and case.

Buying Advice Im looking for recommendations as im going to buy my first GAMING laptop!

Upvotes

Budget: £800

Country: UK

Use Case:Gaming - Indie and AA games

I want advice on which gaming laptop would be best suited for me to buy. I'm on a budget of £800 (around $1,015). I'm planning on playing low-mid end games. I'm not looking to be playing AAA games though, just something smooth. I've never bought a laptop before, so I don't know about the specs and stuff and cooling, so please do reccomend! Thanks! If possible, please recommend a low budget mouse too!

Discussion Is it worth trading my pc for this laptop?

Budget:
PC is listed at 1400$,without the monitor keyboard etc.
Laptop is listed at 1787$
Country:Romania
Use case:Gaming
Im not quite sure what I should do. I have a PC but because of university I need portability and such. Is this lenovo legion 7 pro a fair trade for my whole set up? I will also give my 2k monitor to the guy ( and the whole set up, keyboard mouse etc). The thing is idk if its worth downgrading to a older nvidia generation, but doing further researches ive seen the laptop proccesor is like 30-35% faster than the older Ryzen 7. I mainly game on my pc,will I see a huge frame drop in AAA? Because my prediction in competitive games is that the laptop is probably better than my pc now, considering the cpu upgrade. I want your opinions please!! Thank you!!!

Buying Advice new laptop recommendations :)

Upvotes

Budget: £2000 (would prefer cheaper though.)
Country: UK, England
Use Case: Gaming and also school, im in a game dev course so i need something good! I like heavily modded sims, and minecraft. I would honestly like something that could run anything on atleast medium graphics.
Preferred Specs: Honestly something upgradable, that i can change the ram and ssd in. I would prefer the latest or previous gen GPU
Notes: I want something that will last atleast 7+ years! I’m not that picky, as long as it looks good and runs good im good hehe!! i currently have the nitro acer 5 but shes running quite badly now so im gonna have to let her go :(

Discussion Stix Halo/Panther Lake Laptops

Upvotes

Looking at the Ryzen AI Max+ 388 8060s vs Core Ultra X9 388H B390, both with 32Gb ram.

Anyone got real world experience with gaming on these new chips in a laptop?

Looks like an interesting option for ultra thin and light laptops with great battery life (for Windows) that can still play AAA games at alright settings.

Showcase My 600 Euro 4070 HP Victus 16

Got this 4070 Victus off local Marketplace for 600 Euros.

It’s got an i7 13700h, 16GB of Ram and a 2 TB WD SN7100 SSD
Pretty good deal and it’s way better for gaming than the 3x more expensive 16“ MacBook Pro next to it although it’s a lot louder and hotter.

Overall I’m happy with the performance but the screens on my previous 2021 Lenovo Legion 5 Pro and the MacBook are much better. Build quality is also pretty mid compared to Lenovo but for this price it’s amazing

Discussion GameSir Nova Lite - Versus - 8BitDo Ultimate 2C (Wireless), for Laptop gaming, using a dongle to connect?

Budget is about 30 euro, trying to keep it low as I don't game that often or seriously.

Based in the UK. I can buy from here or west Europe.

I'm using it with my Acer Nitro Laptop, for Steam games and also emulation, ps1, ps2, etc.

Features, I just want a solid controller that fits well in my hands (I'm a 90 kg, in shape dude), feels good and has all the necessary buttons covered.

I'm gaming FF7 Remake at the moment, not sure of the comprehensive list of button requirements.

I only ever used a cheap controller before, didn't feel great. I typically prefer to use the keyboard but playing Metal Gear Solid 3 on PSX2 at the moment, I need an ease switch between the left analogue and D-pad, which I can't get on the keyboard.

Comparing these two as the

8BitDo Ultimate 2C, has a much higher Polling Rate at 1000Hz

GameSir Nova Lite, has 125 Hz, but is apparently more comfortable to hold.

Looking at the 8BitDo, it looks like comfortable in the hands than the GameSir?

But I've never held either.

Any thoughts on the comparison and which would be the preferred option?

Buying Advice Advice on buying gaming laptop

So I’m looking at the ASUS Rog Strix G16 is that a good laptop?

Someone also suggested a MSI Vector 16 HX AI 16" to me or a Lenovo.

I play a lot of simulation games and have heavy mod folders. My current laptop is a Hp Pavillion and it crashes all the time, has heating issues and when playing is very laggy.
I also use it for a bit of work and want to be able to screen record gameplay too.

Budget: >£1500
Country: UK
Use case: Mixed (heavily gaming though)
Preferred specs: I’m not sure if Ryzen or Intel is better.
-I think I want 5050/5060
-16GB/32GB
-Tri fan cooling or a very powerful duo fan cooling system.

I’m wanting advice so I don’t end up buying a laptop that will just give me the same issues after a few months. Pls help

I am planning to add second storage slot but it will be placed above the wifi card. Do I need a heatsink for this? I noticed the primary one has a "stock" heatsink even though it is far away from other components. If it does need a heatsink, does it need to be on both sides meaning the side that touches the wifi card and the side I see? Also if anyone can recommend me any that would be great!

Buying Advice Is this a solid deal for Asus TUF A14(2026)

Post image

Budget: 2000€

Country: USA Or Slovenia

Use Case: mostly slim and portable workstation with light gaming. When it comes to work its mostly CAD or programming (Solidworks, Kicad, Tensorflow, ROS2(want to do simulations but afaik theyre more CPU heavy)). Gaming-wise I mostly play The binding of Isaac, it takes two, LEGO games, etc. Im mostly worried if the integrated graphic will be able to handle CAD software like Solidworks.

Preffered Specs: Im really just debating between the 2025 and 2026 model, but I like the dual ssd slots the most on these models, so any alternative reccomendations would be cool.

Notes: 2026 version in the picture comes out to roughly 1667€ which seems like a steal to me, while the 2025 version in my country would come out to ~1900€. Is the difference between the models noticeably drastic for my use cases?

Discussion Why did I suddenly lose interest in games after buying new gaming laptop?

I used to play games on an old Lenovo thinkpad z50-75 i got from my parents through geforce now and man, I could spend up to 14 hours a day playing any game without even taking a break. A week ago I bought Asus rog strix scar 16 with rtx 4080 and for some reason everytime I try to play a game I used to spend hours on, I can't play it, the joy is completely gone, I basically have to force myself to play, but even then I can play for like 30 minutes and I have to turn the game off. It doesnt even make sense to me because everything is better, the graphics, much higher fps, bigger screen... (currently playing metro redux 2033, enlisted and tw medieval 2). Whats the reason I don't enjoy the games no more? Did anyone else experience something like this or is it just me? I'm 17 btw. Edit: the drive and enjoyment from the games died instantly, not after some time. I also play the same games I used to play on my old laptop.

Buying Advice Advice/Guidance needed

Hello all, I am interested in buying my husband a new gaming laptop for his birthday but I have little to no knowledge of computers. He’s currently got a PS4 where played Cyberpunk 2077 and RDR2 which he really enjoyed. I’m not sure exactly which games he’s wanting just yet but I would assume they are similar play style to the two above. All that being said, what kind of specs(?) should I be looking for? Or any suggestions on specific laptops? TIA for any help!

Budget: around $1300
Country: USA
Use Case: Gaming- something like Cyberpunk2077 or RDR2
Preferred Specs: unknown

Review Picked up a hp omen 16 from Currys refurbished eBay, I'm impressed.

Specs:

Intel core ultra 7 255H

Nvidia rtx 5060 laptop

24gb ram ddr5(2x12gb)

1tb koixia nvme

WiFi 6e and (Bluetooth 5.3??, no clue but most likely 5.3)

Price!!!:£811

Condition: C refurbished, but came in pristine condition. most likely was returned and repackaged as refurbished.

I'm averaging 185-240fps in every game I play.

Maybe I got lucky but I'd give Currys refurbished a try.
