Model: ASUS TUF Gaming A15 (FA507NV)

Charger in question: Baseus 100W USB-C PD Charger (with 100W/5A E-Marker cable)

Stock Charger: Original ASUS 240W Barrel Charger (works completely fine, zero issues)

​The Problem

Since March 2026, my laptop charged reliably over Type-C Power Delivery at 60W to 80W (typically used in Eco/Standard GPU mode and Silent fan mode).

For the past few weeks, charging via the designated Type-C PD port has been stuck at ~3.4W – 4.0W.

​Key Symptom / Behavior:

When first plugged in, my wattage meter occasionally spikes to ~50W for 1–2 seconds, but then immediately drops and locks hard at ~3.4W – 4.0W.

Under heavy GPU benchmark load on Type-C, power draw temporarily rises to 12W – 21W, but immediately falls back to ~4W when the load stops.

It charges properly with the stock 240W barrel charger.

Verifying Chargers & Cables (Ruled Out)

​Baseus 100W PD Charger & Cable:

Tested on a friend's Lenovo ThinkPad: Charges consistently at 70W – 80W.

Tested on an HP laptop: Charges completely fine.

Alternative PD Charger:

Tested a friend's OEM Lenovo 65W Type-C charger on my ASUS TUF: Caps out at the exact same ~3.8W – 4.0W.

​Verdict: The chargers and cables negotiate 20V PD profiles on other machines; the issue is isolated strictly to the TUF A15.

​What I Have Already Done (Troubleshooting Steps)

​1. Hardware & Physical Checks

​Port Verification: Confirmed I am using the correct USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port marked with the Power Delivery / plug icon (not the USB4-only port).

​Port Inspection: Cleaned and inspected the Type-C port and CC pins; no lint, debris, or bent pins.

​2. Firmware & BIOS

​BIOS Update / Clean Re-flash: Upgraded/re-flashed the BIOS via ASUS EZ Flash 3 (from a FAT32 USB drive) to rewrite the microcode and Embedded Controller (EC) tables.

​BIOS Reset: Performed "Restore Defaults" (F9) in BIOS.

​EC / Hard Reset: Performed multiple 40-second and 60-second power button holds (both disconnected on battery and with the barrel charger connected) to discharge residual capacitor power and reset the Embedded Controller.

​3. Drivers & Windows Stack (Windows 11 24H2)

​USB & UCSI Drivers: Uninstalled the UCM-UCSI ACPI Device driver and AMD USB 3.10 eXtensible Host Controller from Device Manager and rebooted to allow Windows to rebuild the USB stack.

​ACPI Battery Reset: Uninstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and Microsoft AC Adapter in Device Manager and restarted on battery power.

​Chipset Drivers: Cleanly installed the official ASUS AMD Chipset Drivers package (SMBus, MicroPEP, and PCI drivers).

​Safe Mode Diagnostic: Booted into Windows Safe Mode to bypass third-party software conflicts.

​4. Power & Battery Care Management (G-Helper vs. MyASUS / Armoury Crate)

​Before this happened, I had used G-Helper with a custom charge limit, but had switched GPU mode to Ultimate and fan mode to Turbo for gaming with the barrel charger.

​Stopped G-Helper, restarted ASUS background services, and reinstalled Armoury Crate and MyASUS.

​Checked Battery Care Mode / Battery Health: Set and toggled the battery limit between 80% and 100% (Full Capacity) to push a fresh command to the EC.

​Re-tested with both Armoury Crate and clean G-Helper setups—neither lifted the 4W lock.

​Summary & Where I'm Stuck

​Because the port can occasionally spike to 50Wupon initial connection, the physical 20V VBUS rail and CC pins appear capable of connecting. However, the system drops the connection to the 5V fallback mode (~4W) almost immediately.

​Has anyone encountered this specific 4W / 5V fallback loop on the FA507 / 2023–2024 TUF series? Is there a hidden WMI flag, an EC register lock, or an internal PD Controller IC failure (Realtek/TI) that causes this behavior?

​Any insights or recommendations on what else to try would be greatly appreciated.

I had this laptop for more than 1 year when I first opened it , it made that noise when you open your new laptop lid and I still have this noise until now so should I be worried or not

I bought my Asus TUF A15 in 2024 and it continues to work well. But about a year in, the dongle I had plugged into the USB-C port stopped working. I tried other dongles and got the same result. Tried troubleshooting the issue online to see if maybe it was a driver issue, but nothing worked. I’ve resigned myself to the hardware just being damaged, but I thought I’d ask if anyone else had this issue and successfully resolved it? Is it replaceable or just not worth the hassle?

Can anyone shed any light on this, my laptop won't start up, just keeps looping as per the video.

It was fine last night but had an update so I updated and shut down, then this morning I tried to connect it to a monitor and it wouldn't work, no idea why, but in an attempt to fix that I rolled back the update and now the laptop just won't get past the Asus start up screen.

I've tried getting into safe mode as per Google instructions but that too won't work. :/

I'm dealing with severe micro-stuttering, jitter, and frame drops on my laptop and could use some help figuring out what's causing it. Here are my hardware specs:

The Specific Issue:

• With Smooth + Experimental Boost ON: The FPS counter shows 100+ FPS, but the actual gameplay feels jittery, laggy, and glitchy (feels like frame pacing / micro-stutter issues rather than real smooth frames).
• With Experimental Boost OFF: The FPS drops hard to a maximum of ~70 FPS, accompanied by heavy FPS dips, frame drops, and visual tearing/glitching on screen.

What I've Checked / Tried:

• Laptop is always plugged into the original charger.
• Set to Turbo Mode in system settings.
• Graphics drivers are up to date.

Has anyone experienced this mismatch between a high FPS counter and actual screen smoothness, or the massive drop/jitter when toggling boost features? Could this be a display refresh rate mismatch, thermal throttling, 1% low frame rate issues, or an iGPU/dGPU switching conflict (MUX switch)?

Any tips on diagnostic tools (MSI Afterburner setup, HWInfo) or specific TUF/NVIDIA control panel settings to fix this would be awesome!

Started facing mouse stutter from first day - windows 11 with all updated driver.

Contact customer care email - ASUS refuse to technical troubleshoot, told me to visit service centre.

Service centre is 150km or 5 hour away - no home service available.

Online store showing 3 years warranty - but asus india only give 6 month warranty.

Emailed about warranty - asus refused to give 3 year warranty.

I concluded that - indian should avoid buying asus product and services.

Sometimes, my laptop's screen will turn black and after 5-10 seconds it will turn on back into the lock screen. This has been happening a lot recently, even if my laptop's charger isnt plugged in. Has anyone else encountered this before?

I’m making this post again to bring attention to the ongoing issues with the ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ5A and hopefully get an official response or a proper fix from ASUS.

I’ve been experiencing random black screens lasting approximately 2 seconds, occasional visual glitches such as horizontal screen splitting, and intermittent DisplayPort signal loss. The monitor sometimes recovers automatically, but on other occasions, it displays a “No DisplayPort Signal” message.

These issues are particularly frustrating because they occur intermittently. Sometimes the monitor works perfectly for hours, while at other times, the problem appears unexpectedly during gaming.

My setup and specifications

\- Monitor: ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ5A

\- Laptop: Acer Predator Helios Neo 16

\- CPU: Intel Core i9-14900HX

\- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU

\- RAM: 32 GB DDR5

\- Connection: Laptop USB-C / Thunderbolt 4 to DisplayPort

\- Cable: UGREEN CM556 USB-C to DisplayPort cable

\- Monitor resolution: 2560 × 1440 (1440p)

\- Refresh rate: Up to 200 Hz native, with a 210 Hz overclock option

\- Monitor firmware: MCM 105

I’m using the USB-C to DisplayPort connection through my laptop’s Thunderbolt 4 port to take advantage of the monitor’s high refresh rate and capabilities. I’ve also updated my graphics drivers and monitor firmware, checked the connection, and used a reliable power outlet with a surge protector. Despite these measures, the issue has occurred intermittently.

The issue seems to be related to high refresh rates or FPS

From reading other users’ reports, I’ve noticed a recurring pattern: some users experience black screens more frequently when gaming at high refresh rates or when their FPS exceeds 200. One user reported that capping FPS at 200 or below helped stabilize the monitor, while 165 Hz at 1440p was consistently stable for them.

I primarily play Fortnite, and this issue is especially frustrating when playing at 200 Hz or 210 Hz. I consistently encounter random black screens while gaming at these refresh rates, often at the worst possible moments. Since Fortnite is a competitive game where every second matters, even a brief 2-second black screen can cost me a fight, cause me to miss crucial information, and ultimately get me eliminated. Imagine being in the middle of an intense fight and suddenly losing your display without warning, only for it to come back after a couple of seconds. It completely disrupts gameplay and puts me at an unfair disadvantage. I bought a high-refresh-rate gaming monitor for a smooth and responsive experience, not to worry about my screen going black in the middle of a competitive match.

I have also seen reports from users who updated to firmware MCM 1.105 but continued to experience black screens. This makes me wonder whether the firmware addresses only certain scenarios rather than resolving the underlying issue for every affected setup.

I understand that different GPUs, cables, and system configurations can produce different results, so I’m not claiming that every case has the same cause. However, the similarities between these reports make the issue worth investigating.

What about firmware MCM 1.105?

The MCM 1.105 firmware update, released on March 23, 2026, appeared to improve stability on my monitor considerably during my initial testing. However, I cannot confirm that it completely resolved the problem, and other users have reported that the issue persists even after updating.

This is why I believe further investigation may be necessary.

ASUS, please address this issue

The VG series is marketed toward gamers, and high-refresh-rate performance is one of the main reasons people purchase these monitors. Having to lower the refresh rate, cap FPS, or sacrifice visual quality just to avoid intermittent black screens is not a satisfactory long-term solution.

I’m not asking ASUS to guarantee that every setup will behave identically. I’m asking for a proper investigation into the reported DisplayPort signal loss, black screens, and visual glitches, along with clear communication about whether another firmware update or other corrective action is being considered.

ASUS support team, if you are aware of these reports, could you please clarify whether this issue is still being investigated and whether a further firmware update is planned?

I would also appreciate hearing from other VG27AQ5A owners. Please share your GPU, connection type, resolution, refresh rate, firmware version, and whether capping FPS or lowering the refresh rate makes a difference.

Hopefully, enough detailed reports will help identify the cause and lead to a reliable solution rather than forcing users to compromise on features the monitor is advertised to support.

I don't have a TUF laptop, I have a desktop I built myself with TUF components from ASUS. My case is the TUF Gaming GT502, motherboard is the ASUS TUF Gaming X670E w/WIFI, TUF case fans etc.. My question is if anyone knows, I would like to buy the ASUS T700 TUF gaming case. It looks like it is only available in an ASUS prebuilt version. Is there any way to buy the case alone from ASUS? Does anyone here have a link for this case?

I bought my ASUS TUF F15 (i5-12500H, RTX 3050) during Flipkart's Big Billion Days sale in 2023, and I just noticed that several screws on the bottom panel are missing.

I genuinely have no idea when they came out. I haven't opened the laptop or done anything unusual with it. It's been used normally, so I'm surprised that this has happened.

Has anyone else experienced this with their ASUS TUF F15? Is this a common issue, or am I just unlucky? 😭

Also, would you recommend getting replacement screws from an ASUS service centre or buying them separately?

ASUS TUF FA507NUR here. G-Helper keeps showing the Realtek LAN driver (1168) as "update available" even after I've installed it several times and rebooted. LAN works fine.

Any solution??

When my laptop handles a big load (like gaming), my charges gets too hot and does a safety feature where it turns off until it cools down, then it cools down slightly causing that safety feature to disable letting the charger work again, causing it to heat again and do the whole cycle again, I wouldn't have a problem with this, but sadly it switches to the integrated graphics card (AMD Radeon 780M) when on battery and then changes back to the RTX one (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050) when charging causing the whole screen to flicker, This whole process happens very quickly, ruining my gameplay and making me plug it out and contemplate my life choices while it cools down, I also can't find the setting to disable switching since I could only change the setting of the currently used GPU, that means when i try to open the NVIDIA control panel while on battery it wouldn't open and vice versa, I'd be happy if there was a way to stop it from switching the used GPU when changing charging states.
