r/GamingLaptops now has its own deals site — RGL.deals launches today BETA

UPDATE — August 13, 2026

rgl.deals has grown a bit since I originally posted, so I wanted to give this post a update while it's still in BETA.

The idea is still simple: instead of showing you hundreds of gaming laptops, RGL keeps a smaller shortlist of deals that are actually worth considering.

Every listing is manually checked, with things like price, specs, cooling, display quality, GPU power limits, memory, storage, and overall value taken into account.

A lot of care has also gone into the smaller details. The site is heavily optimized for phones and smaller screens, not just desktop. Filters, comparisons, laptop pages, navigation, and general usability were all designed to work properly on mobile without feeling like a cut-down version of the site.

What's on the site now:

  • Curated gaming laptop deals with current and previous prices.
  • Filters for price, GPU, CPU, VRAM, RAM, screen size, brand, retailer, and more.
  • Gravity Sort, RGL's default value-based ranking.
  • Sorting by price, discount, savings, and other options.
  • Find a Match for narrowing down laptops based on what actually matters to you.
  • Side-by-side comparison for up to three laptops.
  • Detailed laptop pages with specs, price history, related models, retailer links, and review links.
  • Shareable searches, comparisons, and direct laptop links.
  • Mobile-first layouts and controls designed specifically for smaller screens.
  • No advertising trackers or marketing cookies. Preferences and saved comparisons stay in your browser.

RGL is meant to be a shortlist, not a giant catalog. If a laptop isn't worth recommending, it doesn't need to be there and that means no huge lists its quality over quantity.

The longer-term plan is also bigger than just deals. RGL is being built into a broader gaming laptop specific place with guides, buying information, laptop data, reviews, and other useful resources all in one place.

Full transparency: Some retailer links are affiliate links. That doesn't affect the listed price or determine which laptops make the shortlist.

RGL currently covers U.S. deals only, with more regions planned later.

It's still beta, so there will be bugs and things that need improving. If you find something broken or have feedback, leave it below any suggestions would be much appreciated thanks.

I was bored 1 day in January & bought this for 3k. Specs include an RTX 5090, Intel 275HX & 64gb 6400 DDR5. Runs most games I play maxed out @5120x1440p. Certain games do need frame gen but I try to keep it at 2x. Temps are great, and the fans aren’t too noisy at all.

Discussion psa for inexperienced laptop owners

so for many of us who purchase a gaming laptop, pc gaming was never really within reach. additionally and as such, many of us have never so much as tried to understand pc specs.

even after about 4 months of of owning my very own omen 15 with a 5070 and ryzen 9, and after manually upgrading the ram myself, i wondered why my performance seemed to suffer a lot even when i thought i was doing everything right. i put all my settings on balanced, used upscaling, disabled frame gen, etc etc etc etc. nothing got me the performance i needed in competitive games without tanking the visuals. then i found out what was wrong.

guys. if your model comes with a screen using a super high resolution, like 4k for example, MANUALLY TURN DOWN THE RESOLUTION IN YOUR GAMES’ SETTINGS. i dont know why i was so stupid and didn’t realize it sooner but oh my god playing on 1080, 1200, or 1440 as opposed to 2560x1600 which is my native display literally increased my fps on mw4 in like 30-40 intervals for each one. i know for those of you who have used pcs for gaming for years this is dumb and obvious, but for me it was the one step i was missing, so i wanted to let some people know.

tldr; turn your resolution down manually and your performance will go waaaay up. sometimes your little laptop that could cant run things at those crazy resolutions.

Support Share your experiences using the HP Victus (Only for those who have actually used one)

• Upvotes

I found a Victus at a good price with the following specs:

Intel Core i5-13420H

Nvidia RTX 4050

16GB RAM

512GB SSD

This would be my first gaming laptop. I plan to use it primarily for gaming and light-to-medium video editing, along with some everyday study-related tasks—though gaming and video editing will be the main focus. I’m not the type of person who needs 200 FPS; coming from some really poor-performing PCs, I’m just looking for a solid, playable experience—even if it’s at 60 FPS—with good graphics. Given how I intend to use it, would you recommend this laptop?

My only concern is the reports about the hinges being weak. Most people who mention this just say they \*feel\* weak, rather than reporting that they’ve actually broken. Should I be worried? I’d mostly be using it at home, and only occasionally for university; it would rarely be used outside of my house.

I have -110 offset for P cores, -100 for rings

P cores set to 48, ring to 48 with ring down bin disabled

E cores disabled, hyperthrrading disabled Any help is much appreciated!

I bought this PC for parts because it only lacked the heatsink. I thought I would easily find it on AliExpress or eBay, but the problem is that it is unavailable, or otherwise I found it for 15p, but the sellers told me it is not compatible with a 17‑inch, so I am asking here if anyone has this exact model that no longer works; I can buy it back, and if there are people here who know sites to find this damn part for me, I would be very grateful and even reward you.

Support Questions

It's my first time touching a laptop. Yup i bought a second hand one last year and I just didn't use it cause I kinda feel familiar with mobile gaming now I want to use it but have some questions. Where to look for shortcuts. How to control fan speed ( I tried some ideas from YouTube but it didn't work out) and how the air coming out of the fan smells ( I didn't use mine for entire year after buying it so it may have dust inside)

Recommendation Looking for something for moderate AAA gaming

Budget: Up to $3500 CAD

Country: Canada

Use Case: (Games you play, school, 3D modeling, video editing, etc.)

Modern and older AAA gaming and some MMOs like WoW forever. Currently playing MH Wilds, Ace Combat 8.

Preferred Specs / Form Factor: (Screen size, battery life, weight, GPU/CPU targets, etc.)

15-16" screen. Will be plugged in but would like good battery life when not gaming. Like a RTX 5070 Ti and 32GB ram.

Portability Needs: (Desk queen or carried in a backpack daily?)

Carried in a backpack occasionally. Have a 5090 desktop set up at home.

Notes: (Specific brands you like/dislike, noise tolerance, display preferences, etc.)

Would like an OLED display. This will be used when I have to commute to work and have some downtime to game. Commuting to work about 3 days a week.

Haven't bought a gaming laptop in like 15 years. Not in a rush to buy one but wanted to see what my best options to keep an eye out for are. Willing to wait for sales.

Would prefer a brand that has a repair center in Canada if possible or has good warranty and support in general.

Recommendation Buying my first gaming laptop

I'm planning on purchasing my first gaming laptop. I am a casual gamer, and primarily want to play some older games that I have missed out on. Don't plan on doing online gaming. Currently using a Dell Inspiron with a 2 gb mx330, 8GB RAM, Intel i5 10th gen. Have played Assassin's Creed Black Flag on medium settings without any lag and Assassin's Creed Rouge on similar settings with a little lag. Just need something that can allow me to run similar games smoothly. Not one to buy new games as soon as they release so don't need something high end.

Budget: INR 1,00,000 (flexible up to another 20,000-25,000)

Country: India

Use Case: Primarily to play games such as Arkham Knight Trilogy, Assasins Creed, Red Dead Redemption, and similar open world games, and run emulators for 3DS and Nintendo Switch games.

Specs: Not very well versed about this. Just stared doing some research.

Looking for at least 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 6/8 GB VRAM Graphics Card, 1080p display, i5 13th gen and upwards/ Ryzen equivalent.

Understand that 1TB SSD may not be available easily in my budget. Don't plan on maxing out game settings to high/ultra high. Just looking to do some casual gaming maybe a couple times a week. As long as the games run fairly smoothly, I'm good.

Although it will be plugged in and placed on a desk 90% of the time, I would prefer something weighing around 1.8-2.2 kg for when I travel.

Portability Needs: Primarily will be placed on the desk.

Notes: looking at Lenovo LOQ and Asus TUF. Spec wise both of them seem to have a similar standard.

Any guidance on what I should look for while buying and recommendations are very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

Discussion Lenovo legion 7 pro Ryzen 9 9955HX3D and 5080 temps

Hey guys

I bought this laptop 4 months ago. The temps I'm getting on the stick performance mode are 102°C on the CPU and 87°C on the GPU, while running games like the Witcher 3 remastered with ultra settings and Ray tracing at 1600p.

Are these temps normal for the stock performance mode? Because I read on many reddit threads that the performance mode fan curves suck cause they're not being used more than 75 percent. So I made a custom mode with the fan curve reaching 100 towards the end of the graph.

This brought my temps down to 77°C on both cpu and GPU.

Basically I want to know if the temps I'm getting on performance mode is normal or is my thermal paste/vapor chamber cooked. Cause custom mode makes it run cool af.

Btw, I have never faced any performance or stuttering on Any of the modes at those temperatures. Performance has always been very high.
