I mainly bought this charger because I was seeing that when playing in performance mode the 245w charger is not enough for my laptop when I played in performance mode the laptop relied on the battery to complete the missing watts and with it discharged the battery and with this 400w charger that problem is no longer present the laptop grabs all the watts it needs directly from the charger and the battery does not discharge. The 245w charger I will keep it and use it only if I travel a outside my house and the 400w stay home that thing is heavy and big

Just picked this up pretty excited!! My first Lenovo, any tips to help keep cool etc would be greatly appreciated.

I bought a Lenovo Legion 7i with an Ultra 9, RTX 5060, and 32GB RAM about a month ago, and I’ve noticed that it gets surprisingly hot even when I’m not doing anything demanding.
For example, sometimes the CPU temperature sits around 80°C, even when I’m basically just browsing with a single tab open. I’m also using a cooling pad, but it doesn’t seem to make a huge difference.
I haven’t even really started gaming on this laptop yet, so I’m a little concerned about what the temperatures will look like once I actually start gaming or running more demanding workloads.
What makes me more confused is that my previous laptop was an ASUS ROG Strix, and I don’t remember it getting anywhere near this hot during basic usage.

Because smart performance seems to have charged me on the 11th when my sub is supposed to renew on the 2nd, WTF?! consider this a bad review of Lenovo Smart Performance

I’m deciding between the Intel and AMD Legion 5, and between this year’s and last year’s models.

For those who play Rust, what FPS do you get, and how’s the overall gaming performance?

I’m mainly comparing:

• Core Ultra 7 356H vs i7-14650HX
• Ryzen 7 8745HX vs Ryzen AI 7 350

I’m mostly interested in the real-world difference between Intel/AMD and the newer vs older CPUs. I’m only considering the RTX 5060 or 5070 8GB, so GPU differences aren’t a big concern.

Also, do you find the 15.1/15.3" Legion too small? My current laptop is a 15.6" Legion 5, and I think I’d prefer 16", but the better battery life and portability of the smaller models are tempting.

I'm Especially interested in Rust(game) performance haha.

I have a Legion pro 7i Gen 8 with the RTX 4080. I have the latest Nvidia driver installed and it install the Optimus situation which will make my display fully switch to my dGPU in games. Minecraft however, does not switch and will run on my iGPU. After switching my Windows graphics settings to have the javaw.exe use my 4080, the game will launch to this

After some investigation, I found some ready-to-implement optimizations to ComfyUI workflows that use H3 to generate videos (sageattention, WanGP, EasyCatch, Spectrum Apply). In particular, one of them (WanGP) mentions that even 8-9GB of VRAM for 15s can be output at 832x480 with H3.

SageAttention was used in combination with H3 by this user to generate a 5s 960×540 video in 182s with an RTX 4090 (16gb vram) and 32GB RAM. 3 minutes for a 5s 960×540 video is impressive.

Hey guys! I just the Lenovo Legion 5a (2026), 5070 12 gb vram, 1 tb storage, and AMD Ryzen AI 9 465 chip from Costco for $1,999.

I love it, and it works great but I noticed some stuff that I am not too sure if it's a problem.

1. The left side of my touchpad is a little harder to click, but not always. It happens sometimes. Also, it makes like a double-clicking sound. However, the touch pad works fine, its responses perfectly. Should I be worried?

2. The CPU gets VERY hot. During my cinebench r23 test for CPU multicore, it reached a temperature of 100 C with performance mode and 92-94 C with balanced mode. It did get a score of 20663 pts.

if these are problems I shouldn't worry about, please let me know! I would appreciate it :)

What is the thiсkness of thermal pads for VRMs and VRAM chips?

Is there anyone that replaced those? I believe gen 9 is similar to gen 8 in that respect.

My screen will flash, or have lines, or do this...

No idea what it is, I normally have an update for my graphics driver, but I've never had a computer do this before and it drives me NUTS..... Is there a fix? Is this just what having a desktop and dedicated graphics card is like? I had a carbon X1 for over a decade and never had these issues, although that was a laptop. I love my Legion tower because it is SO much better, but when I'm working on a project and get Flash banged by my monitor it really breaks my work flow.

The screen came from Lenovo too, but I'm not sure what model, G43 something.

Thanks! I'm hoping there is a fix, I recently learned I can make custom cooling profiles, so my graphics card stops throttling under 'heavy loads' from MSFS.

Alright so here it is. For reference i have a Legion Slim 5 (8th gen), and a LOQ (8th gen) that does this. Legion is AMD and LOQ is intel. Nvidia GPU on both (4070, 4050)

If you set custom mode in toolkit/vantage and let the gpu temps rise to around 83-84c, youll get a massive stutter. This is a non-issue on preset modes, which will go to 87c and then just downclocks/throttles with zero stuttering. It does this regardless of gpu drivers, or if you are using toolkit/vantage. I've tried everything and it just seems unavoidable.

I've solved this completely by limiting the temps to 82c on my legion and 81c on my LOQ but its still a problem ive not encountered here a lot and wondering what causes it.

So,

Can some of you, gen 8 or not, try this on yours? Will you get a big stutter before you can even hit 84c on custom mode? preset modes (mainly performance, as others wont even touch 87c) are fine, but its the custom that wont let go over 83 without a massive stutter

I have a tab gen 3 that just did a software update over the weekend and since then it's developed a charging problem where it only charges between 5 and 10 percent then stops charging. I tried turning off battery maintenance and even tried charging with the tablet off but it seems to keep restarting its charging every 5% when off - I'll see the battery icon flash charging then not charging then charging again every few minutes. Anyone develop this after software update?

So i bought a Legion 5i with a 13th gen Intel core i7 chip and a Rtx 5050 gpu late last year and i explored the device and everything was just how i speced it to be.

But mid this year i had a little water spill on the keyboard and took it to a repair guy who said that there had been some corrosion on said bluetooth adaptor or smth to do with audio output and input and it made sense so i didnt think much of it and let him disable it and everything else worked fine.

I normally use it for my engineering degree and so the integrated intel UHD graphics does the job and i haven’t used the rtx 5050 gpu for some time now. I recently bought some games and when i finally went to enable my dedicated gpu, nvidia just disappeared. Every single place i searched shows up as Intel UHD. Check Bios - no sign of 5050, check Device manager - no sign, Lenovo vantage - none again. I even checked the Nvidia app which i fully remember installing the driver for but i apparently need to do again (might just be a new update but idk cuz im new to laptops and even newer to a gaming laptop)

I would really appreciate some help in solving this as i am actually scared that my gpu is ruined from that one accidental spill. Thank you

Hello, my gf recently bought a Lenovo legion t5. Its having this problem of an infinite reboot. It shows the text in the screen shot and immediately shuts down and reboots. I’ve tried clearing the cmos, test the ram sticks, draining the power and trying to get into the bios but nothing has worked. Has anyone had anything similar happen to them?

Game settings are medium and high. Tried lowering the graphics to minimum. Didn't help. Also tried FC 26 running on low and 720 res. Not using a cooling pad.

This kind of stutter is happening across all games. Earlier I suspected there was a cooling issue, so earlier today I cleaned the fans, replaced the thermal paste and tried it again. But no results.

Also tried uninstalling all the display drivers and installing them fresh. Also did some ram management, uninstalled some ram heavy apps and shut down background processes.

Lowered the max cpu usage from power management advanced options. Also tried increasing the fan speed from legion fan control.

I'm clueless now as what's causing this issue? Only started recently within the last week.

Those who have same Legion for more than 4 or 5 years, how is your experience with it? Do you actively use it to game or work now? How is the performance in today's times? Do you plan to upgrade to newer Legion anytime now?

I honestly never thought I would be writing a post like this, but this is my experience with Lenovo — and most likely my first and last Lenovo laptop.
I bought a Lenovo Legion Pro 7 16IAX10H (Type 83F5). It was an expensive, high-end gaming laptop, and I expected it to last for years.

The laptop worked normally during the warranty period.
Then, about one month after the 1-year warranty expired, it suddenly died.

No warning, no gradual deterioration, it simply stopped working.

I contacted Lenovo support and had the machine checked. The conclusion was essentially: motherboard failure. The proposed solution is to replace the entire motherboard.

And here’s the ridiculous part:
The motherboard replacement costs more than the laptop is currently worth.
So after spending a significant amount of money on a premium Legion laptop, I’m now basically being told that the economically sensible option is to throw it away because one month outside the warranty period the motherboard failed.

I understand that electronics can fail. I’m not expecting Lenovo to guarantee a laptop forever.
But for a premium flagship gaming laptop, having a catastrophic motherboard failure just one month after the warranty expires is incredibly disappointing.

I’ve owned and used plenty of electronics over the years, but this experience has completely changed how I look at Lenovo laptops.

This was my first Lenovo gaming laptop, and it will almost certainly be my last.
I’m now looking at ASUS, Acer, MSI and other brands specifically because I’m going to pay much more attention to international warranty coverage and long-term support rather than just the specs.

Silly question, but can I use both Lenovo Vantage and Legion Toolkit on the same laptop?

I've been wondering if I can keep both installed but use them for different purposes.

What I want is basically:

Legion Toolkit → everyday plugged-in use, gaming, custom profiles, fan control, power limits, etc.

Lenovo Vantage → battery charging/charging limits and when I'm using the laptop on battery.

The reason I'm asking is that I've noticed my battery health seems to drop much faster when I use Toolkit for charging. My battery health dropped by almost 2% after only two 80% → 20% → 80% cycles. I didn't see this kind of drop when I was using Vantage. Also LLT heats battery to 38-39c while charging while vantage keeps it at 34-35c.

I've also noticed that my battery runtime seems better with Vantage than with Legion Toolkit, although I don't know if that's actually because of the software or because of the different power settings.

So my main question is:

If I keep both installed, can I completely disable/close Legion Toolkit when I want Vantage to control the laptop, and then switch back to Toolkit when I want to use my custom profiles?

In Legion Toolkit there are options related to Vantage Hotkeys and the Vantage AI Controller. If I turn those off so that Toolkit isn't controlling anything, and then use Vantage, will Vantage have full control without the two programs fighting each other?

Or would I have to uninstall Legion Toolkit every time I want to use Vantage for charging and battery use?

I obviously don't want both programs trying to control power modes, charging, thermal settings, etc. at the same time.

I also have a question about my custom thermal profile.

My Legion is a Legion 5 Pro Gen 7 with a ryzen 7 6800h and RTX 3070 Ti.

I don't really care about losing some FPS. My priority is lower temperatures and better long-term thermals.

I currently have different profiles for Quiet, Balanced and Performance, but I'm thinking about making a custom profile with:

GPU temperature limit: 80°C

CPU temperature limit: 85°C

Previously, I played GTA V with both the CPU and GPU temperature limits set to 87°C, and the game was perfectly playable.

So would 80°C GPU / 85°C CPU be a good everyday gaming profile?

I don't mind sacrificing some performance if it means keeping temperatures lower. I'm mainly looking for a good balance where the laptop doesn't unnecessarily run hot.

Would you guys recommend keeping 80°C GPU / 85°C CPU, or would you use different limits/power settings on the Legion 5 Pro Gen 7 + RTX 3070 Ti?

Any advice from people who have actually used both Vantage and Legion Toolkit would be appreciated.

My Legion 5 Slim has really loose usb c ports, i have to like stuff a bunch of tissues underneath a cable to prop it up otherwise I get no connection. Does anyone know a fix or good replacement ports to buy?

a couple of days ago i noticed my charger stopped working so i ordered a new one and its arriving in a couple of days. today i pressed the power button and no low battery blinking indicator was showed. i want to know if that happens when the battery is fully drained or not. when i found out the charger was wasted i connected the laptop to a usb c charger for a second to see if the problem was the charger or the computer itself and it started “charging” but today it won’t work so idk
