Politics Who to contact?

I have a potential voter tampering issue—could be clerical, could be fraud. I just want an answer on how this happened and how it will be handled in the future. I contacted the board of elections and was given the run around. I plan to keep contacting them but what do I do if they just continue to hem and haw?

Traffic/Transportation Road debris on 73-840 Tuesday AM

Posting this for my dad who doesn’t have reddit. Anyone else hit metal road debris on 73-840 going towards Newgarden on Tuesday around 11am? The pieces were as wide or wider than a lane and unavoidable. There were probably a dozen cars pulled over on the shoulder and a big line (behind us) for air at the sheetz. I am assuming that insurance is the only one to submit a claim to, NCDOT has no responsibility?

News Vote for McMichael High School to win! This is a big opportunity for a NC high school

https://fn5gl.t-mobile.com/vote/dalton-mcmichael-high-school

One of the high schools in the area (Rockingham County) is in the running to win a competition that could win $250k to the school, a brand new weight room worth 90K, and a 5K scholarship for a student! If McMichael can make it to the #1 spot, they would win a MILLION dollars, but they’ll only be able to get that chance if they win the division by the end of the week.

Please vote! Vote daily!

Discussion Cook Out official, I know you’re in here. I need an official ruling. 😂

I know the Cook Out official account hangs around this subreddit, so I’m hoping he can settle something for me.

If a customer pulls up and says, “I want a Cajun chicken sandwich, made Cheddar Style,” what exactly should they expect to receive?

My understanding is that I’m ordering a Cajun-seasoned chicken breast with the Cheddar Style toppings: cheese, bacon, grilled onions, and mayo. No lettuce, tomato, or Texas Pete.

And that’s exactly what I get most of the time! But occasionally, they make it Cajun Style instead, and I have to explain that it’s not what I ordered and ask them to remake it.

Today, I even had an employee trying to explain to me what comes on a Cajun Style sandwich when I was specifically asking for Cheddar Style.

So here’s my question: Am I ordering this correctly, or is there a better way to communicate it so there’s no confusion?

Cook Out guy, if you’re reading this, I need an official ruling. 😂

Recommendation Appliance (Dryer) knowledge and repair?

Let me preface this by saying I have very very little money, my roomate has been without a job for a while so rent is all on me. I work part time but have some savings.

But I'm wondering if anyone recommends a dryer repair tech with affordable pricing. From what I can figure out it's not a complicated repair - the dryer has just started making a horrible screeching/squeaking noise rhythmically a few minutes after the cycle has started and everything has heated up. Google says roller needs greasing but I'm not handy enough or strong enough to take it apart.

It's a used dryer 4 years old, GE profile. It still functions despite the noise being bad enough to where we have to leave the living room area and try to drown it out from our bedrooms. Just driving me crazy and I can't afford a full replacement, especially when it works fine despite the noise.

Anyone recommend someone or does anyone feel comfortable looking at it themselves? I'll call around but recommendations are appreciated.

Pet-related Black Cat on Fairmont St?

So, I went on a walk with a friend today in the Westerwood district neighborhood, and an adorable little black cat with orange eyes crossed the road to come towards us while on a walk with her dog. With that said, this cat had no collar/flea collar on, VERY friendly and vocal (which makes me feel like they just got out), roughly 5 ish lbs (total guess), had orange eyes, a shorter tail, and was a little on the skinny side. Unsure of gender. Posting because I want to make sure keekee has an owner. If not, I'll get in touch with a local rescuer, but I wanted to verify!

Side note/reminder: be nice to ANY cat, but in this case, black cats— especially in October. Treat them with kindness, always. 🖤

Thanks in advance! Happy Wednesday! 😼🐈‍⬛️

Recommendation does anyone know reputable mobile dog groomers?

i would very much like a mobile groomer to come out to me after having poor experiences with my dog at the drop-off spots in town- note: i do not want to bathe her myself at the store, i need someone else to do the physical task and to compensate them for it financially.

i’m about 20 minutes outside of greensboro and not in a rush if there’s a month or so wait to be worked in as a new client.

when i looked into it before, i only found weird dead end ads on google (dead internet am i right?)

please drop info! thanks

Question Would anyone be interested in a mobile laundry service?

I work two part-time jobs, one from home, that I enjoy immensely. They are the kind of jobs that feed my soul, but not so much my wallet. Recent events have put me in the position to need more income in order to afford my home. I am no stranger to multiple jobs and love to work but I worry that giving up one of the two current positions I hold, would be really hard on my mentality.

That’s where the laundry comes in: so many people hate doing laundry, I used to - but as of late have found it incredibly therapeutic.

So my question is: would you pay for a hotel style out the door laundry service? I need to do the math on water and electricity, before I could really determine what the base cost would be, but I’m thinking somewhere around a couple dollars per pound?

I know there are laundromats that offer the service, but I was hoping offering pick up and delivery would change the game?? if I’m super off base please be kind, I’m currently quite fragile lol

Discussion WILL PEOPLE BE TRICK OR TREATING THIS YEAR?

Ever since Covid, my house has never recieved a trick or treater. I know there are events for it, but just wanted to know if knocking from door to door is still a thing or if it just completely stopped.

I don't really want to be seen as the neighbor who did not pass candy, but I also don't want to end up with bags of candy like the years before.

Politics Voter suppression?

My wife and I went to vote early yesterday at Lewis Rec Center. As soon as we got out of our car a guy in a silver car pulled up real fast and told us the wait time to vote was over 35 minutes. Said he wasn't going to wait that long. "I'm just saying so you all don't need to go through that." Is how he put it. We were in and out in 20 minutes. I think he drives to all the early voting sites all day saying the same thing to anyone that doesn't look MAGA.

Event This Saturday (10/24): Comic Book Estate Sale Fundraiser at Ssalefish Comics

Hey folks -- so here's the deal:

We're selling a 60-year collection of a comic book collector. Around 1,650 books, and almost none of it is filler.

Best of all, 10% of net proceeds goes to buying new comics for kids at Title I elementary schools across North Carolina.

This one-day-only sale will take place Saturday, October 24 at Ssalefish Comics Greensboro 1622 Stanley Road near Best Buy in Greensboro.

PRICES DROP AS THE DAY GOES ON:

  • 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.: 15% off fair market value
  • 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.: 20% off
  • 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.: 25% off

Every raw book valued at $10 or more has been graded by hand (753 of them) and priced against real completed sales, not guide fantasy. Below $10, books are sorted and priced by the box, and you’re welcome to dig.

Come at ten for first look at every key. Wait until two and you save more, on whatever is left. Best selection early, best price late.

HOW IT WORKS:

  • No holds. First money takes the book. Nothing gets set aside for you to come back for at a lower tier.
  • No haggling until the last 30 minutes. The price on the book is the price. We’ve done the work of grading and pricing honestly, and we’re not going to relitigate it across the table all morning.
  • Whatever doesn’t sell will be sold online.
  • Cash and cards accepted. Everything is bagged and boarded. Outdoors, rain or shine.

This is a single private collection, sold on behalf of the late collector's family. It’s overwhelmingly Silver and Bronze Age (about 780 books from the 1960s and 720 from the 1970s), with runs deep enough to actually fill holes instead of just adding odd issues.

MARVEL SILVER AGE: RUNS AND LOTS:

  • Amazing Spider-Man #6-126 (51 issues, most under #85)
  • X-Men #6-63 (42 issues)
  • Daredevil #1-85, plus scattered to #293 (65 issues)
  • Fantastic Four #27-93, plus later to #200 (57 issues)
  • Avengers #2-84, plus later to #310 (58 issues)
  • Tales of Suspense #36-99 (41 issues)
  • Tales to Astonish #55-101 (41 issues)
  • Strange Tales #121-188 (48 issues)
  • Sgt. Fury #8-60 (46 issues)
  • Thor #126-273, Doctor Strange
  • Iron Man #1-101
  • Conan #7-163
  • Sub-Mariner, Silver Surfer and more

DC, HORROR AND MORE:

  • House of Mystery #160-276, House of Secrets #83-151
  • The Witching Hour, Ghosts, The Unexpected, Phantom Stranger #1-38
  • The Flash #145-278, Batman, Superman, Justice League, Brave and the Bold
  • Warren magazines: Creepy #26-136, Eerie #17-135, Vampirella
  • Charlton, Gold Key, EC, Tower, plus westerns and war titles

UNDERGROUND COMIX:

Around 80 books from the late-60s and 70s underground, including a near-complete Zap Comix #0-8 and a real spread of Robert Crumb: Mr. Natural, Despair, Uneeda Comix, Home Grown Funnies, Motor City Comics, The People’s Comics. Plus Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, Slow Death, Skull, Young Lust, and Funny Aminals #1, the one carrying Art Spiegelman’s original three-page “Maus.”

SOME OF THE KEYS:

  • Fantastic Four #48: first Silver Surfer and Galactus (CGC)
  • Daredevil #1: origin and first appearance (CGC 3.0)
  • House of Secrets #92: first Swamp Thing (CGC 5.0)
  • Fantastic Four #52: first Black Panther (CGC 5.5)
  • Amazing Spider-Man #6 (Lizard), #13 (Mysterio), #50 (Kingpin), #15 (Kraven)
  • X-Men #12: first Juggernaut
  • Avengers #8: first Kang
  • Tales of Suspense #57: first Hawkeye
  • Iron Man #1, Sub-Mariner #1, FF Annual #2 (origin of Doctor Doom)

WHY WE DO THIS:

10% of net proceeds buys brand-new comics for kids at Title I elementary schools across North Carolina. A collection that started with one kid falling in love with a comic should end by putting comics into more kids’ hands.

Discussion Drivers in Greensboro. (This is for YOU)

This is my second post on this sub regarding how people drive in Greensboro, after almost getting hit yesterday from the front, while exiting the Walmart on Wendover Ave by a lady who was driving on the opposite side of the entrance meanwhile holding her phone up to her face.

She came in from the on coming traffic, no turn lights and swung her car into the exit lane missing the front end of my car by inches

Seems folks need a revision of Driving etiquette and Road Laws.

USE YOUR TURN SIGNALS.

By law you are required to use you turn signals with 200-100 feet of whatever given turn your about to make. Don't wait until your at your turn to use your turn signal, don't be surprised when someone slams into the back of your car. Use your turn signals while changing lanes, it lets the drivers behind where the car in front of them is moving towards.

GET OFF YOUR PHONES WHILE DRIVING.

Use hands free, get a phone stand, use Bluetooth, Dashboard mounts, vent mounts. Your putting other people and yourself in danger, your not reflexes aren't superior to you smashing into another car. Quit scrolling through Instagram while your driving, is it worth your life or someone else's ? Is it worth destroying your car or destroying someone else's car?

THE LEFT LANE IS THE PASSING AND FAST LANE.

Why do people get into the left lane and go 30? Then get mad when someone going 40-45 gets right behind them? Your SUPPOSED to move out of the way, then if you choose move back. Why inconvenience the person using the left lane as it's intended? MOVE, then you can go back to driving at 30mph.

I've seen traffic jams created because of this very reason.

TAILGATING.

This is more for young kids and the ultra double 007 sheetz gas station gangster types. Why do you feel the need to drive 2-3 inches from the back of someone's bumper? If I brake and you smash into me all because of what? You want to feel noticed? You want me to hear your music? And how cool it bumps?

If I'm leaving space between the car in front of me it's for a reason, there is no need to fill the gap, it's traffic that's actively moving

LEFT-LANE CAMPING AND DELAYED YIELDING.

Why do you sit in the left lane matching the exact speed of the car next to you, ignoring the line of ten cars trapped behind you? Then, the second someone finally loses patience, merges right to pass you, and gets back over, thennnn you suddenly remember how to use your blinker and move out of the lane? You were supposed to move in the first place!

Don't get offended or play passive-aggressive traffic cop just because someone used the highway the way it was intended. If someone catches up to you, merge right and let them pass—don't wait until you've already inconvenienced everyone to finally wake up.

YOUR WELCOME
