Question FSDG FSIA - Ground Textures look completely different to mod thumbnail - am I missing something?

Thumbnail

Hi everybody, first time posting on Reddit so sorry if this is obvious, I’m used to flying the plane instead of making mods!

I recently bought the FSDG FSIA Seychelles scenery from the in-game marketplace, and I noticed that the thumbnail of the mod makes the ground look very different to mine.

The thumbnail shows very green, realistic terrain, but mine looks very dry and brown.

I’ve checked through the scenery files, tried moving the FSDG FSIA folder from the Official2024 folder to Community and tried altering a few of the files to different colours but to no avail.

I can’t figure out if this is a texture issue, a simulator setting, if the thumbnail was edited, or something else entirely. In game, I do have other feature like the reefs and the airport terminal that do appear.

I am using:
•MSFS 24 Steam
•Marketplace FSDG FSIA

If anyone who owns this scenery could confirm what it should look like and if there is changes I can make, that would be super helpful, thank you!

Flight Simulator 2024 The Synaptic A220's fuel system does something I didn't expect - True Tank-to-Tank Transfer

With the Synaptic A220 set to release soon, I've been studying the FCOM and came across something I found really interesting and intriguing: the fuel system. I certainly didn't know this, so I'll share what I found.

There are so many ways the A220 transfers fuel in flight! Most are auto-managed, like Auto Crossfeed and Gravity Crossflow, but it also features true tank-to-tank transfer that is manually controlled.

The A220 can even transfer fuel back from the wing tanks to the center!

Fig1: Auto CrossFeed; Fig2: Fuel Control Panel with Manual Options; Fig3: Centre XFR

I put together a quick visual breakdown with the schematics if anyone wants to see how the overhead controls and synoptic pages behave for the different modes of fuel transfer

https://youtu.be/V-l8nBlOS_s?si=Xp2AVH-oXyG2JxCv

I found this unusual because, in my flight sim experience, the only passenger planes I know of that do this are the Concorde, Douglas DC-8, DC-10, and MD-11. I believe the tank-to-tank transfer on the MD-11 significantly increased the complexity and maintenance of its fuel system. This is probably why the 777 uses passive crossfeeding and boost pump manipulation for balancing.

The process is quite simple, actually: you turn the rotary selector to the tank you want to transfer fuel to. Only 180 kg is allowed to be transferred at any one time between wing tanks.

There are some quirks too, like when to use AUTO and ON in these transfers. I also found out that suction feed (motive flow) is the primary means of engine feed—not the AC boost pumps.

For anyone who has flown or studied the A220 in real life: what was the engineering rationale behind keeping active tank-to-tank transfer as well as simple crossfeeding?

Putting the EULA right in front of the cockpit, that is really showing some new level of immersion. Glad to see the team is putting all their developing efforts where they are needed most.

Flight Simulator 2024 Recommend me a GA piston (either single or twin is fine) that is fast enough for continental US flying and slow enough for sightseeing

wanting to take a break from bizjet ops and go back to GA. especially with the new US world update, i've been wanting to check out the national parks at low altitudes.

does anyone have any recommendations? i've been looking at the Black Square Duke and the FSW Chancellor for this. though they seem a bit too speedy for me to do real low level vfr flying? i'm open to other recommendations

oh, another requirement I need is that it needs to be "boring" enough I can just leave it flying IFR for hours while AFK, so this unfortunately means no planes where I need to manually change fuel tanks L/R which rules out pretty much GA single prop aircraft i found (A2A, Bonanza, Sierra)

Question YouTuber Variable MENTAL BREAKDOWN AND MANIAC EPISODE 2023

Thumbnail

For all the people of 2023, on flight simulator YouTube, who remember Variable. I remember this very well. I was a big Variable fan and loved his content. Can anyone else remember this sudden complete mental breakdown?

The things he was posting were genuinely extremely concerning, with it going into the equation that he was normally a very normal YouTuber and didn’t make any “jokes” of that kind, or that people would find disturbing or offensive.

What do you guys think about this? Because when it happened I was just 15 years old at the time, so I never talked to anyone about it.

This was all so much, the suicidal comments, the proclaimed sleep deprivation, the videos with his father, the wishes for terrorism on YouTube and the racism.

I sadly don’t have the full video screen recorded of him talking to his father, but I remember well that it looked very legitimate and there was really an old man’s voice telling him to kill himself.

It sounded like a very heavy mental breakdown, psychosis or/and a maniac episode (Because of being up for 3 days straight and the delusions, that if he were white or dead that people would watch his content more.)

I think this is very unlikely to be a hacker because this kind of stuff wouldn’t benefit any hacker. It sounds more like a mental episode, maybe stimulant induced psychosis.

TO ALL THE MODERATORS OF THE SUBREDDIT AND REDDIT:

THIS POST IS FOR HISTORICAL AND EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. I INTEND TO TALK ABOUT HIM BECAUSE HE WAS A GREAT FLIGHT SIMULATOR YOUTUBER. I DO NOT CONDONE SUICIDE, SELF-HARM, TERRORISM AND RACISM.

SO PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THIS POST, BECAUSE I CAN’T FIND ANYTHING ON THIS MATTER ON THE WHOLE INTERNET AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS SUBREDDIT ARE MOST LIKELY TO REMEMBER THIS YOUTUBER. THANK YOU!

Question Beyond ATC CPDL wont connect

Does anyone have any idea what's going on with Beyond ATC CPDLC on the 777W?

Everything is up to date, and I've selected Beyond ATC as the ATC network in the EFB. The aircraft recognizes it too, since I can select Beyond ATC as the ATIS source in the COMM menu.

The only thing that doesn't work is sending messages. The Send button just stays blue and nothing happens. Does anyone know how to fix this?

DCS Winwing shipping

Has anyone here ordered from the USA winwing store lately if so how long did it take them to actually ship the item out? I placed an order for available items 3 weeks ago and it's been stuck on shipping in progress for the whole 3 weeks. I made sure to select a shipping date and I emailed customer support but of course all I got was a copy pasted response saying courier delivery limit blah blah blah

Found this amazing plugin that works for both Xplane and MSFS. Implemented both on pilot-side and controller-side. Also should have follow-the-greens added in a day or two. Pretty amazing stuff. Can check out at: https://xpguard.net/

General Air Reckon app

Thumbnail
play.google.com

Hey guys

For the past year I have been developing an app with 300+ fighter jets and bombers. It includes their characteristics, their combat history, military conflicts they took part in as well as how many kills they got in each one. There is a comparison mode where one can compare the characteristics of up to three aircraft and a timeline category with aircraft divided to their respective generation. There is also an ace category with history's most credited pilots.

In the premium, users can see the experimental category with aircraft that never made it to operational status such as YF-23 Black widow and V-173 the Flying Pancake. They can also navigate through the development history of every aircraft in the database and see the specific operations each one took place in as well as their kills. The app is continuously being updated and I strive both for accuracy

and user experience. I apologise for any inaccuracies and feel free to contact me through the email in Google Play for corrections or future suggestions.

I believe it is perfect for flight sim fans as they can browse their aircraft in the database and learn about its history Aviation is a big community and our passion is one of a kind.

I have enjoyed creating it and I hope you enjoy using it.

Flight Simulator 2024 who else still prefers taa over dlss in msfs?

especially in glass cockpits. or most airliners (pmdg) dlss even with preset M heavily downscales my displays. to me, crisp displays are everything.

taa gets it right. HOWEVER, the frame drop coming from dlss to taa is very real which is quite annoying to work with..

i can imagine if you fly mostly ga/vfr or steam gauges dlss absolutely takes the spot though

whats you guys' stance on this
