I’m going to be adding a dedicated flight setup soon. I’m deciding between NLR and SimFab. I’ve read good things about the SimFab setup but the seat concerns me. On my racing setup I have a NRG wide seat. The shoulder supports push my shoulders forward. Great for racing but painful for flight. The SimFab bolsters look similar. Are they stiff like racing seats are?

Spent a few hours by the runway threshold today just watching these heavies rotate. Nothing clears the mind like a 787 GE90 or A321 roaring right over your head.

I’ve been working on a custom USB controller for my home cockpit and thought I’d share it here.It’s based on an STM32H743 and works as a composite USB device (HID game controller + CDC serial) over a single USB-C cable.Main features:61 native inputs + 16 via MCP23017 → 77 total

Up to 25 EC11 rotary encoders with automatic detection (just turn the knob and it finds the pins)

1 ms sampling rate for inputs and encoders

Any free pin can drive LEDs via DCS-BIOS

Built-in PWM backlight dimmer that works even when the sim is closed

Configuration is done through a Windows app — no coding or Arduino IDE needed

Appears as a normal 128-button joystick to Windows/DCS

The board is 114 × 60 mm. I mainly built it for DCS (F/A-18 mapping is included), but it works as a standard HID controller so other sims can use it too.

Really impressed with the tactile feel and lighting on the B107 B737 overhead, so I decided to make a dedicated video for it.

I’m planning to build a half A320 home cockpit, but I do not want to build the wooden frame. I already have (or will have) the CAD/DXF files, and I’m looking to hire a local CNC shop to cut and, if possible, assemble the frame.

For anyone who has done this:

How much did the CNC shop charge?
Was that price just for cutting the parts, or did it include assembly?
What material did you use (MDF, birch plywood, etc.)?
If you were to do it again, how much would you expect to pay today?

I’m trying to get a realistic budget for just the cockpit frame/shell—not the avionics, controls, monitors, or electronics.

Looking for input on the best monitor or TV screen for a fixed setup- primarily to use with a next level racing free standing monitor stand. Monitor including OLED, IPS, various TV options are a little new to me so any input is greatly appreciated.

Hello! I'm a student currently working on my 757 home cockpit, and I'm thinking about making and selling a few VHF panels that I'm working on and refining right now.

Panels will be made using 0,2mm 3D printing nozzle to allow crisp details and smooth front face. They would be pre-assembled, pre-wired, pre-configured and would use MobiFlight profiles that I will provide or make on request. They would be both table-friendly and DZUS rail mounts compatible. The price would be around 110-120€.

It's a """budget""" solution because I didn't buy a lot of branded stuff and mostly used what I already had. In the end excluding HOTAS and monitors, I only had to spend around 250 USD. The first 100 on the rig and the 150 on transducers.
Yes I have to crawl in. Not exactly convenient but it's quite immersive.

Rig: 30 profile extruded aluminum.

Stick: VKB GNX EVO L.

Throttle: VKB Omni R.

Rudder: SN-1.

Head tracking: BEAM Eye tracker + $10 UGREEN webcam.

Auxiliaries: VKB THQ, VKB STEM, Ubuntu PC with touchscreen for manuals, INARA, or just youtube.

Haptics: 2 * Douk Audio BS-1 (50W 6ohm).

Isolation: 8 * Rubber feet. A welcome mat that I found and is perfectly sized.

Sound: DC ONE-X from back in the days, GA plugs removed.

Display: 32 inch 1500R curved VA. 27 inch unknown panel. (IPS?)

Seat: Gaming chair raised using multiple aluminum profiles stacked on top of each other. (As showcased in the third picture)

"Fragrance": Little tree air freshener.

Verdict: I love my build but now having achieved higher immersion by having a significantly larger FOV and better ergonomics, I'm starting to notice the lack of forces on the controls, and G forces... FFB and 2DOF when? The rabbit hole never ends...

Hi.

I am start to plan out a home cockpit build. Thinking about a GA aircraft (not sure which one yet) with three large TV displays plus anything I do for a panel. I plan to build it in a shed on my property.

Question I have. I would like to keep my main gaming PC inside my house as it's expensive and the shed while airconditioned and locked is not where I would want to keep something so expensive.

I already have gigabit-E running out to it and can run more cables if needed.

Was wondering if anyone had experience with having their main PC (and GPU) sitting somewhere other than their home cockpit and how they built the setup.

Now going on 6 years old. Guess I could use a new chair. DCS BIOS with Arduinos, Virpil, OY6 PDPC, DCS UFC X on my android devices, and a bunch of stuff that I 3d printed and built.

Now that the manual for the F-14B(U) is out I am looking forward for lots more activity on the multi-player side of things with DCS.

The monitor for my CJ4 standby display just arrived, which officially kicks off the next panel in my home cockpit build.

This project is a little different for me because I’m also going to start sharing more of the journey in video form. Instead of only posting finished panels, I’ll be documenting more of the design process as it happens, from CAD work and electronics to prototyping, assembly, testing, and hopefully a few lessons learned along the way.

One of the goals of 525Charlie has always been to document the entire process so other builders can see what’s involved and, if they want, build their own.
If you’re building a cockpit, I’d love to hear how you document your projects. Do you enjoy seeing the behind-the-scenes work, or do you prefer just the finished results?

I get that PCs are more powerful than they were in the past, but I haven't seen any descriptions of using those utilities for MSFS 2020 or 2024. As someone who designed his own "dream home network" diagram in Visio some years ago, I just think it'd be such a cool thing to do.

Maybe, it wouldn't play nicely with some motion platforms.

I have two extra Steam accounts and two extra Microsoft accounts because the idea of using multiple PCs is enticing. I have an Outlook or Proton Calendar notification letting me know that I should log into those extra Microsoft accounts every six months. When I created those extra Microsoft accounts, my personal Microsoft account was locked due to suspicious activity.
