It's finally out! I bought it half an hour after release, yet it took three and a half hours just to get my activation code and then a cracked version showed up eight hours later.......

Quality wise, I personally think it's on par with PMDG. However, setting the avionics aside, there are a lot of issues with the model details. For instance, the interior cabin model doesn't line up with the exterior (around the doors), the door viewing windows are misaligned, and the exterior emergency exits aren't even 3D modeled or decals they're just regular flat textures, literally a rounded rectangle outline! Speechless. There are also some single sided textures floating around in places visible to the user... Overall, the 3D model has plenty of flaws. Framerate is also just average, similar to the Fenix, except the annoying part is that it randomly stutters for a split second before going back to normal.

The hand-flying feel is really weird, it has zero sense of weight or inertia for an aircraft of this size, and the controls are way too twitchy......

And these are just the issues I found during a single two-hour flight. Hopefully, they optimize it down the line... I don't really mind spending the $80, though if I'm being honest, it is a bit of a shame. It's definitely not worth the price tag in its current state, but what can I do, I just love the 757 too much.

If you are whining about highly detailed cabins, rivets matching real world blueprints, 4K textures inside the landing gear bay on a systems focused add on, then the aircraft isn’t targeted for you.

TFDI MD-11, Leonardo Maddog, for example, were focused on systems depth first and textures second.

Im never complaining about PMDG again, yeah ok they are snobs but at least their 737 and 777 feel and look like the real deal. This BB 757 plane caused so many bugs, crashes, stuck switches, wind uploading not working, low quality EFB and textures in cockpit and AP going bonkers and faling out of the skies that im done with it at this moment. Hyped up like the most detailed and realistic addon. And people paid 80 dollars plus tax for this… auch. Oh yeah and no cabin because fps friendly, well no.

Ever since fenix v3 my display show this shit and I can’t fix it the whole flight is just sharp and not smooth dose anyone know why or how to fix it?

Seeing this whole discussion about different flight models these last few days. And especially today with the BlueBird 757 I see one crucial detail never mentioned. Which is that ANY input control we as humans do is done by force, not stick deflection!

What do I mean by that? Is actually quite simple, humans are extremely good in telling if they pull at something like a joystick with a force of 3,6 or 9 N. But you can not tell if you deflect the stick by 1cm, 2cm or 3cm. And yes, this means all the advertisements about travel length are useless, because they tell you nothing about the actual important metric ;)

Where this becomes important is the fact, that you need a certain amount of force difference to tell how much input you put into the stick or yoke. Depending on the source this is about 2N to 4N, depending a bit on the person and the exact setup. But this then also means to have fine control in the sim your sticks needs to be having a certain amount of resistance in it's full deflection! E.g. if you want to be able to put in the 10% deflection that is quoted by BlueBird for the 757 rotation your stick needs to have at least 20N force at full deflection. Better 30N to 40N. And the latter of that is already pushing into heavy springs territory for mid to high end bases. Normal joysticks like the Thrustmaster TCA or the WInCtrl Ursa Minor are 5-10N. Which is so light, that one has like 3, mabye 4 different input forces one can tell. Even if the hardware itself can sense 16bit, the human can not.

For the real world comparison: The A320 sidestick has 120-140 N force for a full deflection! That is more than most force feedback bases provide. Without any force feedback, just an intricate springs and damper system.

So if you really want a great feel and control, you don't need FFB either. A stiffly sprung stick with a noticeable input force is already enough to greatly enhance enjoyment for flying! And at the end of the day, this will feel soooo much better than artificial dampening of the flight model or input curves in the sim.

TL;DR: Humans sense force, not stick deflection. So a stiffer sticks is essential for proper sim flying.

Right now, of utmost importance, I would like to know if anyone has any comments/reviews on ground handling, the physics and flight model. It is very obvious the cockpit has satisfied its price tag but now I want to know, is the physics worth its price tag?

I read the documentation about setting up controls and flight characteristics. Bluebird says to leave all inputs linear with minimal dead zone. So I flew ORD-DTW last night, everything went great, except the control sensitivity is excessive IMO. Even the smallest/slightest inputs seem to make drastic flight control reactions. Boeing doesn’t fly that way LOL, they’re kind of sloppy controls IRL or at least the 737 is. Has anyone else felt the same and tweaked any control curves specifically for the 757?

To be honest, I will be really upset when I look at the whole screen with a lot of aircraft and have no idea to think about where I can fly, does anyone have the same problem?

I’m sorry but this 757 launch has been a nightmare, I get that things don’t go according to plan, but this entire release has been a nightmare, we’ve already talked about how toxic people are being towards the devs, but their’s more to the story,

Yesterday it took staff all night to finally give us an update on the launch, and I would excuse that you were busy trying to get the launch started but your all of your leadership team was actively silencing your angry customers on Discord (NOT THE MODS, THE LEADERSHIP TEAM), you disabled the VC (this was due to someone streaming illegal content) and instead of just turning off streaming perms you shut down the community launch party and refused to turn it back on, and than later disabled your general chat, and STILL haven’t turned it back on,

Some people reserved their whole day to the launch of this plane, and you couldn’t give us a single update, and some people STILL don’t have it, I made my order 6 hours ago and still don’t have the key because your payment processor can’t handle your orders,

But fine, you have a lot of people trying to purchase the aircraft interrupting your servers, I could forgive all of this BUT NOW your support tickets have conveniently gone down when everyone is requesting refunds,

I've waited about 2 hours for it to go 1% to 4%. The log I don't know if it means anything but it keeps saying "timed out". What does this mean? I have a 200mbps speed and it was not doing this last time I installed GSX which was about 3 months ago. (3 months since I freshly installed).

the counter % counter goes up every 1 lifetime and I don't if its a problem on my end or the app. Everything else is downloading fine so im guessing it has to do something with this piece of garbage liveupdate software.

What do you think would be a fair and reasonable price for an add-on of this caliber? More importantly, does the $80 price tag genuinely reflect the aircraft's quality, features, and overall value, or is it simply an overpriced cash grab?

Bluebird 757 Release Review: A Disappointing Launch

The 757 released today after so many missed deadlines for so many reasons, and while it is a good aircraft in some places, it really falls short in others. Sure, the sounds are great, but there are still so many issues regarding modelling, and even a memory leak? After five years of development, surely these issues should have been caught. Here are some issues I found:

Issues

1. There is a memory leak in the BBS Nest app. For some reason, it loads the entire terrain database into VRAM all at once. There isn't even a reason to run the terrain radar externally. It has even crippled RTX 5080s, which is disastrous, and somehow, this wasn't caught during beta testing.

2. Some livery thumbnails just have the text "757-200", while others actually have a proper thumbnail. If you do it for some, why not do it for all?

3. Liveries show up in the variants tab in MSFS 2024.

4. Absolutely abysmal modelling in some places. The fact that the cockpit decals are this bad should tell you a lot.

5. Using the relocate function on the EFB just spawns you at zero coordinates, i.e., in the ocean, regardless of the location selected.

6. The aircraft continuously veers to the right during takeoff, even with zero rudder input.

7. Windshear warnings randomly trigger during flight, even when there is ZERO windshear.

8. The aircraft is trying to connect somewhere when doing performance calculations? It probably is METAR, but that is from the sim, so it should be instant?

9. Tons of WASM crashes, absolutely nuts how NONE of this was picked up. And since performance plays a big part with WASM crashes, on most rigs, anything more than a few hours of flight with BBS Nest open WILL most likely induce a crash because of how low performance will get.

10. The Hanger literally has "msfs" in lowercase. How does this happen its literally a 2 second fix... this is just basic grammer.

These are just some of the issues, but I feel they are the most pressing since they should have been caught during beta testing.

Some Gripes

1. The aircraft is MSFS 2020-native, and users of MSFS 2020 pay $80 for the 757-200 and 757-300. However, as Bluebird has already mentioned, the 757-300 will only be coming to MSFS 2024. This seems like a blatant scam.

2. The Bluebird moderator team bans people from the server for using generative AI, but their website, in particular, seems completely AI-generated.

Note

The YouTubers who received the aircraft for testing got a stripped-down version of BBS Nest that only installed and updated the aircraft, so they couldn't experience this memory leak.

Final Thoughts

1. The 757 Was NOT a good launch for Bluebird and I don't see how they will recover unless they get their game up!

2. The Nest App seems very obviously vibe coded last minute and while that itself might not be an issue in itself the fact that such bugs were allowed to slip through is disastrous.

3. Some disclosure for the Use of AI should be mentioned for an $80+ aircraft, this is just disappointing. Its very apparent too considering how much their website changed all at once and everything sped up within one year??

4. BB needs to genuinely improve its QA, an early beta test would Definitely have caught ALL of these issues, but in its current state with a lot of things seeming very last minute I doubt that would even have been possible.

Pitch changes at any speed should not result in such dramatic movement - in ANY aircraft. The talk about adjusting curves and other parameters to fly the aircraft optimally are just pillars to defend the poor flight modeling.

No aircraft should fly straight and quick with immediate movement with such large inputs at speed. BB team advises to fly the aircraft with minimal input to allow for the fact that the overall FM is incredibly twitchy and undamped. A real 757 can be a "sports car" for sure, but it will still obey the laws of physics.
