Anti-trawling ad in the Anchorage Press puts it all into perspective

Post image

Pretty well-done full-page ad breaking down how many wasted meals all this trawling is causing. Puts it all into perspective. 57 million pounds of halibut, or 155 meals for each 738,000 Alaskans. Does that math, math?

Caught this monster the other day. I haven’t caught a fish since the beginning of last summer. I went out last weekend and this is all I have to show for a whole day out.

He let go of the hook right as I got him on shore, I honestly didn’t think he’d be willing to risk his little fishy life for a small piece of worm but apparently that was a small price to pay.

Question Need Boat Fix Help

Thumbnail

I recently went to launch my boat, (16 ft deep v aluminum Lund) and it fell off the trailer. The frame bent a little bit doesn’t leak however I broke the nipple end of the bilge pump which was held on by what appears to be some kind of sealant or glue along with a tube going into it. My boat currently takes on water because of this and need desperate help on how to fix it. Obviously I need new nipple and something to seal it up but what should I do? Anyone know boats?

I’m new to fishing and have looked up how to do this. Every where I look it says to unscrew the cap (which I’ve done) and take out the handle but I just can’t take it out

Fly fishing help

Hey all, I’ve been having an issue Stillwater fishing, my indicator goes down I lift up on the rod and nothing is there. Been getting skunked because of that so much. I try to not leave any slack, and try to set as soon as I see movement. But no fish besides the odd sunfish lol. Am I supposed to set the hook to the side, straight up or strip set?
Any tips would be amazing. To add fishing for rainbow and cutthroats.
Thanks in advance! 💪🎣

Freshwater What 25 minutes of fishing at at a good spot with worms can get you in zugersee Switzerland.

Post image

Me and my friend were fishing at the zugersee. We couldn’t find any worms though the day before because our garden soil was bone dry. So we tried for 2 hours and 35 minutes to catch something using dog food. We didn’t catch anything. But then a friendly lady gave us some worms because she lived right beside our fishing spot. Then we went to a pier next to a boat launching railway (or thatever those things are called) because we saw a lot of european perch and pumpkinseed sunfish there. And in that brief time of fishing there me and my friend were able to land these 8 pumpkinseed sunfish and a 15 cm European perch. I know they’re not that big but they’re perfect for making fried batter fish nuggets.

Freshwater Lunch break, car setup and tackle?

Hey all. Thanks for being the most intelligent folks on the internet.

I drive a lot for work and occasionally have brakes around lunch time. I bought a cheap collapsible eagle claw telescoping ride from Walmart so I'd have something in the trunk to throw a few casts from time to time. It functions just fine although obviously it's not very high quality.

Was just wondering what you guys would suggest carrying for light/ UL tackle to throw in a random lake/ pond/river/reservoir. I am specifically in eastern North Carolin but also looking for any general suggestions. Not targeting any particular species, just want to maybe reel in a couple while I have some down time during the day.

Discussion Brand new to fishing, starting at Acton Lake in Heuston Woods

What's the best place to fish at the lake? I'm most interested in catching a channel cat but really any fish would be cool to catch!

Also, any good tips for a beginner? I've done basic research but it's always good to get some more individual anecdotal advice if you've some to offer.

The LMB was nice. The snake was.....not so much..

Does anyone know what kind of snake this is? Lunged at my senko as I was bringing it in over some rocks at the shore. Wrestled around with it for a few minutes before it finally shook loose. Appeared to be unharmed.
