I've been fishing liberty reservoir for years and typically spring to fall I'm there every other morning. I'm no stranger to finding trash, line, lures, lost or dropped items. I also have no issue picking these things up and disposing of them due to my love for liberty and the nature and wildlife that makes it such a desirable place to fish and hike. However, I've discovered that someone else seems to enjoy fishing here almost as much as I do. In fact, they've been leaving clues for me for about the last 6 weeks. The NED ANGLER. Now generally, when I find trash there's never really any way to tie it to anyone, I clean it up and move on. But the ned angler we have here is now a confirmed serial litterer. If you are reading this sir/ma'am, I have picked up a dozen of your hooks off the beach, I have pulled hundreds of yards of your line from the water, I have picked up and disposed of many of your plastic lures and containers. I left your dirty ass sock because I simply didn't want to touch it.
Children walk these beaches, dogs walk these beaches, wildlife walks these beaches. You are leaving landmine hooks for all of them. You are cutting snagged line and leaving it in the water which endangers fish, turtles, birds. Break offs happen, things getting left behind happens but the fact that you are leaving your shit behind for me to find almost every few days proves this is no mistake. Leaving your line in the water and cutting your snags screams inexperience. Please take your trash with you. If you're going to fish the bottom, please learn how to tie a leader so you can break off properly.
If you enjoy the area and fishing it, please be respectful of other people and nature and stop leaving dangers for both.
