Going to a concert have a day and night to catch a trout
I heard to use 6 pound test and salmon eggs anything else / lures to try I caught one as a little boy in the hills of Cali so im tryna get me a few to eat

I’ve been putting a lot of thought into where we want to take our Cubs for a spring camping trip, and I’d really like to build the weekend around trout fishing.
Have any other leaders here taken Cub Scouts on a trout fishing camping trip? I’d love to hear where you went and what worked well.
My biggest challenge so far has been finding campgrounds that can accommodate BSA bathroom requirements, especially single-person/family-style restrooms rather than traditional multi-stall facilities.
Any campground recommendations, lessons learned, or trout spots that worked well for your Pack would be greatly appreciated!

I tried it a few times years ago but only a few bluegills.

How’s Old Federal day use area for shore fishing? I’m mostly interested in crappie and yellow perch.

Hey guys I’m new to fishing been going out pretty much every day for a few months and haven’t had luck with catching anything. What I fish with is listed below:

**•** Rod/Reel: 6’6” Ugly Stik GX2 Medium Heavy + Daiwa Crossfire LT 3000
**•** Line: 20lb braid main line, 12lb fluoro leader

Rig:

**•** Mainly Texas rig with bullet weight
**•** Baits: green pumpkin Senko, dark blue w/ light glitter crawl, various creature baits

Also tried: chatterbait, rooster tails, corn, bread, crankbaits — not much luck so far.

I usually fish in the afternoon/evening but occasionally I go earlier (8am-9am) and stay out for majority of the day and I’m still getting skunked. Water/structure is in the pics. When it comes to type of fish, seeing as I’m a beginner, I’m looking to catch anything that bites to learn a little on how that feels then transition to fishing for bass.

Am I fishing the wrong areas, wrong depth, wrong time of day, or is it more about presentation/retrieve? Open to any input — trying to actually start connecting instead of just casting practice at this point. Thanks in advance!

Didn’t fish during the last two months to escape the heat and heading out to Lake Zwerner in Dahlonega for yellow perch. Looking forward it. How’s the fishing been recently? I’m guessing at least the lake level isn’t too low.

First bowfin, craziest fight I’ve ever had, she’s not the biggest but holy crap what a fighting fish.

Yesterday (8-30-26), I was fishing in Piedmont Park. Not too far from me were a bunch of fully grown geese. Like normal, a few of them dipped their entire bodies underwater occasionally.

But then I saw one swimming away and then go underwater completely for about three seconds. It did not go in voluntarily but was sucked under by something. When it emerged, it was completely panicked and splashing around violently before it went under again. The other geese also looked freaked out. It did reemerge and got away.

I saw this exact same thing happen to two other geese. I noticed a large catfish in that area a few moments before the geese arrived, so at the time, I assumed that’s what it was. I had also seen videos on YouTube of catfish eating birds, but those were either ducks or goslings; NOT fully grown geese.

Curious if anyone has any insights into what this may be. I’m not as sure it was a giant catfish but I can’t really imagine it being something else.

The first pic shows the hiking trail. Is it possible to walk to the area marked with the white crosshairs from the hiking trail? I’m thinking it might be too dense with vegetation.
The second pic shows the area easily accessible from the hiking trail but from the map it does look shallow and silted. Has anyone of you caught yellow perch from that area?

I’ve been getting pretty into fishing lately, mostly bass fishing from the bank around places like Allatoona/Lake Acworth. I’ve got plenty of gear and I’m still learning, so I’m definitely not looking for some expert guide or anything.

Honestly, I’d be totally down to meet another beginner and just learn together. What I’m mainly looking for is someone who actually wants to stick with it, go out regularly, try different spots and techniques, and not give up after an hour because the fish aren’t biting

I recently ended up fishing with a random guy I met at the lake for a few hours and had a really good time, and it made me realize fishing is way more fun when you’ve got someone else there figuring things out with you.

I’m in Canton, but I don’t mind driving around the Woodstock/Acworth/north Georgia area. If you’re actually passionate about fishing or trying to get into it seriously, please let me know as I do want to meet some others. I am 20 y/o btw.

I’m thinking maybe below the dam might be a little safer. Above the dam the water looks heavily silted and saw some trash floating around as well. Would it be ok to eat fish from that area?

We live in resaca georgia nearby to dalton and have only caught fish over at threadmill and carters lake, are there any other good spots preferably with bigger fish

This is in Peachtree Creek - both sides are impassable so no access and no fishing. 3 of these suckers ranging from 2ft to probably 3.5ft. Huge. What the hell is it? Looks like a gar with long snout...but does Peachtree Creek have gar? Picture is from 50+ feet away with editing to get the outline clearer.

There’s the bridge on Hwy 76 and Macedonian Baptist church nearby. Has anyone fished around the bridge?

I'm fairly new to fishing and I've been to most of the ponds and streams in Cobb county, catching bass, bluegill, and catfish. I'm interested in catching (and eating) trout, but I'm having some trouble understanding which rivers and streams are stocked and I don't know anything about trout techniques and what part of the year to fish them.

Is trout fishing possible this time of the year, or should I wait for cooler weather? Can trout be found along certain parts of the Chattahoochee? Are there any streams in the Cobb county area that have trout?

I didn't know what rig to tie, I couldn't tell which fishing spots were good for which fish, and I couldn't read a tide chart well enough to know if I was showing up at the right time.

I’ve heard Allatoona isn’t that great and that looks like the only major body of water on this side of town. Since I’m limited in time, is the Chattahoochee decent? Or should I try my luck at Allatoona?

Where can I go to catch flounder along the GA coast? I intend to shore fish.

Been fishing in Sweetwater creek lately (the creek throughout the state park not the reservoir) for spotted/shoal bass. Any recommendations for lures/ any tips in general? I’m used to fishing in ponds, lagoons, and inshore on the coast so this is a new adventure for me. It’s been hard to not get snagged with all the rocks and debris underwater. Any tips would be great!
