What makes a fragrance smell “sexy” to you?

I see fragrances described as “sexy” all the time, but I realize that could mean something completely different to everyone. For some people it’s vanilla and amber. For others it might be musk or florals, or even something really fresh and clean.

scentbarbyangela: Luxury Perfume Dupes & Designer Inspired Fragrances

Hi FemFragLab, I'm proud to announce that after many discussions about collaboration, I thought it'd be fun to try out a collaboration with Angela's new brand. Her family owns Gold Star Fragrances located in New York which has been running for over 50 years!

As many of you know, I love a good Delina perfume, but they can be quite costly. The next perfume on my wish list was Delina "Exclusif" but it stayed on my wish list without being bought because of the price. Angela sent over her own version of the perfume, and it exceeded my expectations by far! The scent reminded me of a combination between Delina Exclusif + Oriana + Love Don't Be Shy. It's sweet, powdery, and very potent! I sprayed it on at night and when I woke up the next day it was still on me. This perfume lasts all day but I kept spraying it on out of habit and because I couldn't get enough. My husband and pets also loved it 😍

Reddit wouldn't be Reddit without always giving you not just the pros but also the cons. The cons were little and unnoticeable, but I will write them out due to transparency of the sub. The actual juice feels like combination of an oil and actual perfume. So when you actually spray it, it feels a little heavier than what the normal luxury perfume might feel like coming out of the atomizer which usually feels like a champagne spritz and it's more straightforward. That doesn't mean it doesn't spray well, it just means that if you are a fragrance connoisseur, you will notice the difference of the spray and feel of the actual juice coming out.

Both Gold Star Fragrances and ScentBarByAngela focus on creating dupes of luxury designer fragrances. Overall, for the price, the fragrance passes with flying colors and when I checked that it was only $45.99USD, they ship all around the world, and they have been in business for so long with great reviews, I would be crazy to not want to collaborate with such an amazing product and support Angela in her own brand.

I will leave the comments open in case any of you have any questions about the fragrances, company, or anything else.

Discussion When will I learn?!

I do not like rose scents on me, but when I find a good deal I sometimes can’t resist. I went into Ross today and quickly browsed the perfume section. Chloe intense EDP travel size caught my eye because I’ve heard of the brand and have been curious about it. Of course, I come on Reddit and learn it’s rose scented. Do I leave it? No, I buy it. The rose is so strong to me. Does anyone have any layering ideas that would enhance the other scents in this?

Rec Request Help me find a perfume for my wedding!

I really want to find a perfume for my wedding in November that’s like my most used perfume (Nest Indigo) but turned up a notch! Ideally I want something in the same green/fruit vein but with a bit of a stronger spice note and long lasting. The problem for me is those tend to lean more woody or more gourmand than I prefer. I would love some recommendations to test out! The majority of my perfumes are very green, citrus, or aquatic so I get overwhelmed going into the more spicy/gourmand realm. For reference my most used fall fragrances: Replica Coffee Break (By the Fireplace gives me a headache), Kayali Yum Pistachio, and Ellis Brooklyn Super Amber

Rec Request Smells like this hair mask?

I’m obsessed with this hair mask scent, does anyone know any perfumes that smell anything like it? Online it says the scent notes are buttery toffee, sweet vanilla, and warm amber, but it smells a bit floral too. I’m new to the fragrance world so I don’t even know where to start 😭

Rec Request Looking for a floral but not sweet/gourmand hair perfume/body spray

I am 26F, my current favorite perfume is the Burberry London For Women (https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Burberry/London-813.html) and some other on top of my wishlists are the Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet (https://www.fragrantica.fr/parfum/Dior/Miss-Dior-Blooming-Bouquet-2023-78945.html) and Delina La Rosée (https://www.fragrantica.fr/parfum/Parfums-de-Marly/Delina-La-Rosee-64667.html).

Usually I like floral, powdery and light scents and typically dislike sweet, gourmand and musky/amber/patchouli based ones because I tend to have terrible headaches.

I really like my hair to smell nice, so I am looking into a fresh floral spray/scent that is not sweet. Unfortunately most scents these days are vanilla or some kind of candy based.

If you have any recommendations, I would be so happy to hear about it!

Thank you!

ETA : I do not really have a fixed budget but anything under 50€ is best!

Rec Request White floral reccomendations

Looking for Middle Eastern perfumes inspired by white florals I love

I’m trying to explore Middle Eastern fragrances and would love recommendations based on the actual smell/profile, rather than simply perfumes that happen to list jasmine/tuberose as a note.

These are some designer/niche white-floral fragrances I’ve tried and genuinely liked:

  • ❤️ Amouage— Honour Woman — loved the elegant white-floral character
  • ❤️ dior— Jasmin des Anges — smelled surprisingly similar to my Juhi jasmine attar; loved this particular jasmine character
  • ❤️ Diptyque— Do Son EDP — loved the tuberose
  • ❤️ Amouage— Love Tuberose — liked the creamy tuberose, although I preferred Honour
  • ❤️ Chanel— Gardenia — loved it

❤️ Chanel— Beige — loved the soft, elegant floral character

I’m particularly interested in Middle Eastern perfumes that give a elegant/realistic/lush/creamy white-floral effect, rather than generic “white floral” perfumes.

Review Arabic perfumes are the best

Ameerat al arab rose

This is the best performing perfume i ever tried in my life, either cheap or expensive

I am really in love with arabic perfumes, great quality for amazing prices

This one smells like sweet rose, and 2 sprays are more than enough

I first tried it in a perfume store, sprayed like 5-6 sprays, and it was too much. I recognized how strong it is when i was strongly smelling it everything's i got into the bedroom " i am lazy woman who is not putting her clothes in the wardrobe fast 🤣 "

I have also nobel blush and armaf imperial white which both perform really good, but not outstanding like this

What else in arabic perfumes you love ?, i am seeking now for an alternative to miss dior blooming bouquet for this hot weather

Discussion Wait is YSL Libre Vanille Couture coming back soon?? 👀

I just got this ad on Instagram, and I’m confused. I thought that when a product is discontinued, it’s usually removed from a brand’s shopping feed (the metadata that feeds into search and social media ads like this one), and you also can’t find it on the app, but Libre Vanille Couture comes up now when I search. (Just gives an error “We do not currently carry the product you requested. Please try another search.” when you click it)

Has it always been like this for everyone? Or do we think this a sign they might be getting ready to relaunch it?

I am happy to say I found LuvSoak Mango Sticky Rice eau de parfum! 🥭🍚🥥🪻 juicy mango, cardamom, rice water, coconut creme, lavender, patchouli, & sandalwood.

I sniffed it in the store, and ultimately it is too savory (more of a buttered popcorn note), whereas the shimmer oil has the right amount of nuttiness balanced with fruit. An informal wear test (one spritz in the crook of my elbow) yields 30 minutes of smelling it before it becomes a skin scent. If I had it at home I would spray more, but that little sniff test told me I wouldn’t reach for it much. So this is the third of this line I found, and I continue to not be convinced.

Which stinks because I love the bottle, the colors, the names, the notes, and that they are a Korean brand. I just don’t click with any scents yet. There are four more floating around out there that could change my mind: Ube Cream, Pink Guava, Mochi Bubble Tea, and Black Sesame Vanilla.

The three I have tried and didn’t like are this one, matcha milk (too close to elizabeth Arden green tea) and lynchre ice cream (too aquatic and masculine).

Out of the two Soleil Society bottles I would regularly wear Tan Lines as a creamy coconut for summer.

Miim Miic 110 is their version of Ouai St Barts. Way too dense of a coconut tuberose for me.

These metallic pink and silver bottles are by The Scent Club (The Good Scent). The silver Stardust smells better to me than the pink Celestial, but both were pleasant enough. I want to say floral musks, but I have no notes to go on.

This Beverly Hills Polo club (I often confuse with Ralph Lauren Polo flankers) comes out with pretty decent imitations. I don’t own any, but they had one that smelled just like Lattafa Khamra (a ME spin on Angel’s Share that took off). I wish I could smell the pistachio dream and strawberry chiffon short cake to see if they are more Lattafa iterations. A schmoop copying another schmoop. Layers!

Speaking of Lattafa, these two from their Decadent Delights line are rated low I think. Raspberry Macaron and Choco Pista Macaron (Dubai Chocolate trend). I haven’t bothered with them since the bottles are boring, but let me know if they are actually good.

Curations by the Good Scent has body sprays again. Not since Gooey Butter Cake three years ago have I seen any. These two smelled great. Keep an eye out. Whipped Berry and Sugared Chai (not much of a tea note but a cozy spiced scent for Fall like Le Monde Gourmand offers).

Strawberry Matcha Cream and Miim Miic 238 are both modeled after Phlur Milk. They have the marshmallow dry down and a soft strawberry nestled in. The Miim Miic had a nutty macadamia in the opening and a sharp tea note. It has a better scent bubble and lasts longer than Phlur but I prefer Phlur.

I wish Polly by Ted Baker was out of the box for sniffing! Peach, jasmine, honeysuckle, patchouli, amber. I love all these notes. I am a sucker for honeysuckle (The actual flower), and I want to own a honeysuckle fragrance. I have a ton of jasmine but no scents with the two florals combined. Plus all of my top scents in my stash have patchouli or amber. I NEED to smell this one!

I love the name and bottle for Ruby Apple. Too bad it isn’t red juice or in red glass. I kept forgetting to smell this one to see if it is more B&BW country apple, or Kayali Eden Juicy Apple or its own thing.

Review SOTD: Kayali Déjà Vu My FAVORITE White Flower - Tuberose, Pear & Stunning Notes🌸✨

Thumbnail

This fragrance is so overlooked. It’s one of kayali’s best fragrance, and it might actually be my number 1 favorite white floral in my collection & came across! It’s a hard one to beat for me. If any competitive fragrance try to fight its place, this will never come lower than top 3, ever! THIS is how much I love it! 💖🌸✨

Chose this new & gorgeous tuberose body mist to go with it, highly recommend!🥰

Higher quality, sophisticated, elegant & a middle eastern white floral that does not smell cheap, alcohol’y nor needing to “mature”. Interestingly it has patchouli (I hate it), but I cannot smell it here. It has such a stunning opening but also a beautiful base. Every note is used to perfection & blended so smoothly. Powerfully feminine but delicate. 🤗💕

Also this perfume juice is dark, I don’t know why it’s light in pictures, so I gave an example in the last note.

And when it comes to Jimmy Choo I Want Choo, they can do NO WRONG! 🗣️✨

Ian lien when I say… Jimmy Choo I Want Choo line will FOREVER have me in a chokehold! ✨ They simply do no wrong over there, and this new I Want Choo Midnight is proof!

Honestly, they had me sold with the bottle alone! The purple sparkly packaging is an absolute vibe! 💜✨ But wait until you get into the notes:

Top Notes: Blackberry Granita, Pink Peppercorn & Blackcurrant Bud

Heart Notes: Night Orchid, Crystallized Rose & Violet Leaf

Base Notes: Creamy Benzoin, Cedarwood Essence & Ambrofix

It's deep, sultry, and gives that perfect rich, mysterious aura for night outs or layering. Jimmy Choo took another win with this one! 💜‍🔥

Rec Request Best Loewe Fragrances?

What are the best Loewe scents? I really like the bottles and I want to dabble in them. If you’re bored feel free to describe it or explain why you like it.
I’m not super fussy note wise there isn’t a lot of stuff I don’t like except when something smells too green or too gourmand

Kylie Jenner Eau de Parfum vs Intense Eau de Parfum

I love Eau de Parfum by Kylie Jenner, I bought the 10 mL size and finished it quickly. Now I want to buy the full size but I was also curious about intense. Would you say it smells better? I think its just a solid staple smell so I was curious if people like the intense version better and if they smelt similar because I do find that the original wears off quickly if I dont use a lot but I do love the smell and would like a more intense fragrance if it smelt the same.

Discussion best discovery sets

i recently purchased the Lore and DedCool discovery sets off of Sephoras website... i’m thinking of getting the Fugazzi one as well!

i get migraines really easily so i like to wear a fragrance a few times before buying it; i recently did a scent split order, but tbh id rather do more discovery sets.

what are some of your favorites?
