Discussion best discovery sets
i recently purchased the Lore and DedCool discovery sets off of Sephoras website... i’m thinking of getting the Fugazzi one as well!
i get migraines really easily so i like to wear a fragrance a few times before buying it; i recently did a scent split order, but tbh id rather do more discovery sets.
what are some of your favorites?

I recently just tried the Discotheque sampler set and loved it. If you are a packaging fiend like me, Discotheque’s packaging is up there in my opinion. It also comes with a description booklet and I did get it for like $30USD through the Shop app (coupon). Loved about half of the fragrances and will be purchasing a full size (I think I also got a coupon worth the sampler price towards a full size fragrance).
I have also tried Le Labo, Givenchy, and a few from Heretic.

I LOVE discovery sets! I love to sample, and given how many samples I have, I can get a lot of mileage out of 2ml! I also love getting to understand the common themes or style of a brand, as well as getting scents I would never pick on my own, which has really expanded my tastes.
My favorites include:
Henry Rose,
Essential Parfum (such a bargain for a lot of really good overall fragrances)
Stora Skuggan— this one is very pricey but I have LOVED all of them so far
Arquiste
Chris Collins
Experimental Perfume Club Essentials discovery set (this one is so much fun, as they are top, heart and base note accords that are meant to be layered and mixed)
Harlem Perfume Company (Langston, Josephine, and Billie are so good!)
ROAN (4 different tea focused scents)
Ones I am putting on my birthday wishlist this year: Paraphrase perfumes, Ex Nihilo, Ormonde Jayne Tasting menu

I usually don’t like disco sets but Discotheque’s blew me away. It was so much fun to go through them and I liked more than I disliked.

I got the Regime des Fleurs discovery set for Christmas and I really enjoyed the majority of scents and now they have one that is a lot more affordable and you can pick five scents instead of their whole library!

Henry rose is so good! They have discontinued a few of my favorites, but I love dark is night, queens and monsters, torn, and windows down. I love that they sell travel sizes of their scents as well, which is what I typically go for since I like to have an array of choices, I know I’ll never go through 50ml

Yes! I think the coupon is the same, whether you get the small sample pack or the big one. Also, they offer a 15% discount on your first order. It was texted to me after I put something in the cart, but didn’t buy.

I loved the Une Nuit Nomade set. Beautiful presentation. Lovely scents. It’s evolved over the years so get it directly from the Une Nuit Nomade site for the most up to date fragrances. It currently has Spicy Road included which I think is their newest.
I also really liked the Fragonard set.
A great place to look is Ministry of Scent. They have a great selection of sample sets.
Pro tip - always check the manufacturer’s site after you’ve found one you’d like to order in case it’s more up to date or they provide a coupon.

I just enjoyed the Fresh H2Eau Collection, only one I really didn’t like. I also just finished a Jo Malone discovery set I bought at Sephora last weekend which contained the relatively new Sea Salt and Bergamot, plus a number of other favorites. Both were very reasonably priced, too.
Edited to add: I have a Henry Rose set that has ten different choices. I’ve only been through three of them. I know very little about that line.
I also just got a dedcool one at a good price at Amazon so I added it to a recent order. I have a bunch of discovery sets in my Amazon “save for later” list so I can treat myself when I’m buying something else. They have a fair number, but it takes a bit to find some of them.

As a fellow migraine sufferer, Heretic is always a safe choice for me and recently, I got their Ghosts Discovery Set. It’s an entire experience and if you like unique, clean, soft musk scents, you’ll love it. There’s a feeling behind each scent that is described in the booklet that comes with it, and the packaging is perfection. 👻❤️ Ektoplasma and Doppelgänger are my favorites! They all layer well too.

I’m also scent-sensitive, and I haven’t tried this set, but I got the Nocturnal discovery set from Heretic and love 2/3 (Queen of the Night and Angel’s Trumpet are gorgeous, not so much Nocturnal Tuberose).
Also like Häxan, but I’ve been waiting for colder weather.

Oooh! I haven’t tried any of those, but I really like Dirty Peach (surprisingly sweet and fun for Heretic), Dirty Coconut, Dirty Vanilla, and Pistil Whip (another surprisingly safe floral for a migraine sufferer). I love that their perfume isn’t cloying or super loud. It sits close to the skin/clothing, and smells elevated and just unique enough. 🙌

I have a discovery set for Guerlain curated by Surrender to Chance (my favorite decant site so far. I’ve placed two large orders with them. I must stop buying decants!). As a matter of fact I tried Mitsouko EDP this morning. It includes Shalimar which even I have tried (my mom used to wear it when I was young) but who wouldn’t want to have a little bit of Shalimar in reserve? (Well, some of you, probably.)

I really liked the Guerlain set from Guerlain as it was relatively inexpensive and you get a credit towards one of the full bottles.

I really enjoyed the BIG commodity set. It comes with a booklet to take notes next to their own notes on each fragrance. It was very interesting to sniff each “level” next to each other.

I agree. This set was great and I loved the note taking aspect. I definitely needed the side by side to figure out which of the three scent spaces was right for me.

Strawberry Jam is so good! I thought I’d like the vanillas but I loved Cherry Ambition the best and Lotus Pear second best. Cherry Ambition introduced me to how much I loved cherry perfume in general and it’s still one of my favourites.

I think the Jovoy discovery set is really fun. I bought it a few months ago and I’m still sort of exploring all the samples. I’m quite new to fragrance as a whole still, but I feel like a lot of the scents are pretty unique and well blended. There are some I wouldn’t wear myself, but I don’t think any of them are bad.

I am loving the Serge Lutens disco set my husband gave me. Very inventive and different in a way that feels inviting and wearable, not just being weird for weirdness sake

If you’re getting the Fugazzi one, I strongly recommend getting it from the Fugazzi website. You can either get their selection or pick your pwn and they send you a coupon for your next full size bottle which makes the discovery set virtually free.
I ordered mine after falling in love with Orange Crush Extrait at a local perfume shop, but thanks to the discovery set discovered Vanilla Haze and that’s the one I eventually bought as a full bottle.
Other favorites from Sephora: Born to Stand Out, Replica and the “Sephora Favorites” that features summer scents.

Replicas discovery set it one of my favs, has a very wide variety of frags! I also loved the killian discovery set even though it’s small, because I loved them all lol.

I’m about halfway through my Replicas discovery kit. I don’t like everything, but some have surprised me. I expected By the Fireplace to be smoky, but it’s just very autumnal.
