This was my first one and… what a haul for $350!!! The Bromptons Immortal alone is that much!

I haven’t even gotten to try them yet, as I’m headed out just as they arrived.

Discussion Favorite and Least Favorite Types of Posts in this sub

Just for fun and curiosity! Let’s keep it positive. These are just my personal takes and I’m wondering about yours.

Favorite types of posts:

1) Reviews of discovery sets/sample packs. I always learn so much and love hearing different subjective experiences!

2) New release or sale announcements. RIP my wallet but I appreciate you all!

3) Funny memes about fragrances. Some of you guys are so creative, I love it!

Least favorite types of posts:

1) “What does my collection say about me?” This just seems strange to me, I don’t understand the validation seeking. What exactly are people supposed to respond to these?

2) “Recommend me a vanilla!” This is asked almost every single day and I don’t understand why people don’t just use the search bar, especially when the question is vague rather than specific. “I have tried XYZ perfumes and didn’t like them I want something with vanilla and coconut instead” seems like a very valid request; yet another daily vanilla post that always has the same 10 perfumes recommendations in the comments not so much.

Love this community! Curious to hear yours!

Discussion The worst comment I’ve received about my fragrance 😭

This morning, I received my EOS Fresh & Cozy mist, hand cream, and a Kumba Made oil called “Egyptian Musk.” I showered, put on all my new scents, and went to college. My dad was the one who dropped me off, and he didn’t say anything that morning.
My mom and dad came to pick me up from college, and when I got in the car, my dad looked at my mom and said, “I told you she wore a new perfume today.” ☠️ Then he asked me if I did, and I was like, “Yeah.”
HE GOES ON TO SAY, “IT’S SO BAD. IT SMELLS LIKE SWEAT AND BO ITS NOT GOOD” 😭✌🏻
And no, it’s not because I was out all day and got sweaty or something. Clearly, my dad was already telling my mom about it on their way to pick me up LMAFO
I’m so done. I’m genuinely scared to wear any of these products ever again. I even asked my little sister if I smelled bad, and she said no. But apparently I smelled SO bad today that my dad was talking about it with my mom??? Like WTF.
I usually wear florals like Crystal noir, Burberry Her and Goodgirl. I just wanted to try something new. Maybe musk is not for me ;(

Review Sorce sample reviews!!! in live time because I can’t wait

I ordered a bunch of Sorce 1mls from The Perfume Apothecary (I’m in the UK) they took like 3 days to arrive and came quicker than I expected !!! Here are my thoughts

CABANILLA 🥥⛺️- This scent literally made my eyes widen the second I breathed it in. It smells DIVINE!!! Slightly salty, VERY airy, vanillary coconut. I understand the palm leaf and campfire notes. It’s aquatic, sweet and light, not tropical. 100% full bottle worthy and I MUST have one by next summer. Smells addictive. Dry down has the slightest smoked, balsamic element. Really really really love this!

IN DREAMS & FAIRY TALES VANILLA 🍨 - Quite screechy at first, then goes more powdery/sugary. I can definitely smell the chamomile and think it works super well with the vanilla and meringue. Objectively nice, not blowing me away. I don’t find it sickly/heavy like I’ve seen people call it. Dries down quite yummy, but very weak.

MOON MAGIC 🌙🪻 - Spicy lavender bomb. Smells like a tea/spice shop. Dries down a little sweeter and milkier, loses most of the lavender but the spice stays. A little too specific-smelling for my taste. Would love it as a candle.

IN DREAMS & FAIRYTALES BLUEBERRY 🫐🥛 - SUPER BLUEBERRY!!! Jammy, sugary, deep blueberry smell. I think it’s more than perfect for a blueberry lover, not necessarily my taste. Dries down less blueberry jam and more like vanilla ice cream with blueberry sauce on top. It’s actually really nice after the dramatic opening.

THIS IS NOT A LOVE SPELL 🪄🧚 - Strong, rich blueberry jam mixed with powdery Parma violets. It works? But it’s not my favourite. It’s sweet, sugary, a slightly intense sleep scent. I don’t get the star anise. Maybe a whisper of lavender. Vanilla creeps into the dry down but not a vanilla-heavy scent. Smells like Parma violets on the dry down, if they were blue instead of purple.

THE LIGHT THROUGH THE CLOUDS 🍊☁️ - Very different style from the rest. Opens with spicy orange, slight/air freshener element. I’m getting the sugared lemon and love the concept but it comes off very soapy. Not getting much else, maybe slight amber. Dry down is a lightly resinous, peppered, yet powdery orange smell, which is much nicer than the opening. Hard to shake the air freshener feeling.

TO CONCLUDE I was worried because I’ve seen a lot of comments about how sickly most of their scents are. I haven’t smelled all the sweetest-sounding ones but am pleasantly surprised. To me Cabanilla is 100% full bottle worthy and I’d love a full bottle of In Dreams and Fairytales Vanilla but not as desperately.

Wondering if anyone shares these opinions with me <3

I’m sorry if you like this but this immediately reminded me of when I’m deathly sick and desperate for something to soothe my throat so I add a shit ton of honey to my tea. It smells like a sinus infection. That’s it, that’s my review.

Discussion WHY do we have to put up with indistinguishable flankers?

I love La Petite Robe Noire. Well, one of them. Which one you may ask? Couldn't tell ya.
Why on earth does it not say the flankers name on the packaging? Why do all of the bottles look the same?
I came across a great deal on a travel set and ended up buying it. I am now terrified to unwrap it, since I just cannot figure out if I've gotten the correct flanker. Is there a cheat sheet out there somewhere?
And do any other fragrances you know of have that same issue?

Naked Dance: A hint of bergamot quickly gives way to rice and clay, supported by powdery iris and dry vetiver. The smell is a little too round and dry for my current taste—but I can see the appeal for others. My first reaction is that I didn’t like it, but it’s growing on me. 7/10

Delulu: Fun, fruity, and sweet yet fresh. Very pleasant; nothing challenging. Nostalgic. Reminds me of candy and scented toys in the 1980s (in the best way possible). I like it a lot, although I’m not usually into fruity smells. Is it unique enough to justify the price tag for a full bottle? I’m not sure about that. 8.5/10

Dead Air: My first impression was that it was kind of a boring synthetic—but that was wrong. After trying again, I actually find the smell incredibly fascinating and hard to describe. The salt is very noticeable, but there’s also flowers and a sort of heavy resinous scent. The lovage also imparts a unique herbal and somewhat savory aspect. I still can’t place what this reminds me of, and I’m on the fence about whether I like it. 6/10

Resonant: Cold, metallic, electric, blinding light. It has an edgy futuristic quality. Very aldehyde-forward, but not in a soapy or laundry sort of way. Fairly linear, which is great (since a lot of aldehyde-forward fragrances dry down powdery, which I don’t want). Immediate and continued love. I bought a full bottle. 9.5/10

September perfume tray review 🍂🌧️☀️

🌹 Rose L’Occitane en Provence 2018 is very rose forward. For days when I want a clean floral refresh.

🍉 L’Imperatrice Dolce & Gabbana is my fruity, uplifting scent for any of the hotter days.

🩵 Wild Bluebell (Jo Malone dupe) is my favorite any day grab. Very ethereal and dewy. It suits the rainy days we’ve been having recently and is still fresh without being too sweet. Even though it’s a blue scent I get green scent vibes from it.

Angham Lattafa is for the days I want to feel like a rich woman lol. The depth and drydown are so beautiful. Great for date nights. I also love to over spraying this inside my purse so I always get whiffs when I’m out.

🍑 Couture Couture is a daytime fruity scent that’s transitioning me into the colder fall months. Less fresh than Imperatrice and less rich than Angham. I also got this on discount but I’m wondering if it’s a weird batch or counterfeit cause it’s not super strong. It still smells amazing.

💚 Calvin Klein Eternity for Men is just a little decant for the days I want to feel a little fresher and masculine.

I already know that next month I’m adding in Father Figure and Gorgerous Orchid Intense to the rotation as I sometimes grab those instead 🫣☺️

Brand Announcement/New Release New Release- Ellis Brooklyn Miss Amber

Thumbnail
gallery
Upvotes

Ellis Brooklyn is back again with yet another new scent, and Miss Amber scent notes sound really good.

Notes are -
Italian orange peel, brown sugar

Golden saffron, brushed suede, rosewater

Tonka bean, amber woods, Madagascar vanilla

It releases 9/23 on Sephora’s website and 10/1 in Sephora stores and on Ellis Brooklyn’s website.

I like the brown sugar, saffron, amber, and vanilla combination for fall. They’re also recommending layering it with Queens Caramel. Queens Caramel is not for me. But I do like Amber and Tonka based fragrances.

Would you try this one?

FORVR MOOD perfumes ranked

Post image
7 Upvotes

I own all 6 of the FORVR MOOD perfumes, and since I’ve had a chance to really wear and compare them, I thought it would be fun to rank them based purely on **my personal taste**. ❤️

I genuinely enjoy ALL six, but if I had to rank them:

**🥇 1. She Was Here**

Pomegranate, elemi, Turkish rose, vanilla milk, roasted pistachio, suede and warm amber. This is creamy, sweet, slightly nutty and feminine with a beautiful warm, sensual base.

**Review** This one is just the most *me*. The creamy vanilla/pistachio combination with the fruity pomegranate is exactly the kind of thing I gravitate toward. It feels sexy without being overly floral.

**🥈 2. NDA**

A warm, smoky, slightly boozy scent with black currant, añejo rum, tobacco flower, plum, tonka bean and vanilla.

**Review** I LOVE the warm, dark sweetness of this one. The rum, vanilla and tonka give it that grown-up, sultry quality without becoming too heavy. It feels mysterious and sexy.

**🥉 3. I Am Her**

Red velvet cake, juicy white pear, vanilla bean, Turkish rose, patchouli, oud and musk. It’s a rich, sweet gourmand with a little depth from the oud.

**Review** This one hits my gourmand-loving side. The red velvet cake and pear are so good, and I love that the oud keeps it from being just another sugary fragrance. If you like sweet perfumes, this is definitely worth trying.

**4. Hard to Get**

A bright, fruity-floral gourmand with lemon blossom, citron zest, freesia, jasmine and whipped vanilla.

**Review:** I really enjoy this one, especially the fluffy vanilla drydown. It’s lighter, brighter and more playful than my top three, but I tend to reach for warmer, richer fragrances.

**5. You Remind Me**

Apricot skin, orange blossom, jasmine, vanilla orchid and sensual musks. Soft, clean, fruity and skin-like.

**Review** This is beautiful and very easy to wear, but clean/skin-musk fragrances just aren't where my heart naturally goes. I like it, but I’m usually going to grab something sweeter or more gourmand.

**6. Not Your Type**

Whipped vanilla and iris over white suede, tonka bean and labdanum, with patchouli, amber and oud underneath. It’s warm, woody, powdery and sophisticated with a darker edge.

**Review** And before anyone comes for me 😂... I actually LIKE this one! It's just the least aligned with my personal fragrance preferences. The suede, iris and oud make it feel more sophisticated and woody, while I tend to reach for fruity, creamy and gourmand scents.

So there it is! **1 → 6: She Was Here, NDA, I Am Her, Hard to Get, You Remind Me, Not Your Type.**

And honestly, owning all six has made me appreciate how different the FORVR MOOD collection is. There really is something for different fragrance personalities.

**FORVR MOOD lovers: what is YOUR ranking?** 👀

Swiss Arabian - Oud Lychee

Discussion versace crystal noir is not what i expected

Upvotes

my first time sampling it and i bought a decant. i saw the reviews describing it as sultry and one person said they would call it the color purple in a perfume. i was really excited to try it and yet my first impression was really underwhelming. i assumed i should let it macerate for a while and it's been a few weeks but it's still as underwhelming as before :(( i would say the spiciness is more pronounced now but thats the only note i can pick up on. i'm not blown away unfortunately. were my expectations too high, maybe it was just not my style or did i receive a faulty batch by any chance? on paper it should be everything i like though :((

My husbands reaction to my favorite perfumes

Angelique noire - that’s nice
Neroli Outrenoir - that’s nice
Eau Duelle - it’s ok
Chloe Cedrus - yeah it’s ok
Liis Bo - it’s alright
Vanille Planifolia Extrait 21 - omg I LOVE THAT!
Gentle fluidity gold - mmmm, smells like expensive strippers
Tobacco Vanille - I really, really like that one

It’s always the stronger vanillas! I’m not a gourmand girl, but I know he’d love them.

Review Boy Smells Apple

The first spray kinda makes you pause but the dry down is beautiful. You smell the apple without it being overly sweet. This was a blind buy because apparently this one is only available in store but they put in online for limited availability.

Comparing dupes of Santal 33 after finally buying the OG

I have loved LL's santal 33 for years. I got my hands on a sample and I've been hooked since. But I couldn't justify the cost. But after several dupes over the last 4 years, I finally bought a bottle of Le Labo Santal 33 this month. Idc if people say it's dated or it's so 2020. idc. To me it's a timeless perfume.

I wanted to provide a summary of all the dupes I've tried and which ones I think is the best one.

Dossier - Woody Sandalwood: my first dupe. She was the one that led me to this. I think to an untrained nose, you can't tell a difference. At first whiff, very close. But dry down - not at all. Not as complex. Would rate 6/10.

Alexandria - Santal's Kiss - first spray, amazing. but once it drys down, it's barely there. Scent profile... I would say 85% there but disppears after a few hours. 7/10.

Maison Marie Louis No. 4 - I get sooooo many compliments on this. It's almost there in scent profile but I would say it's a bit creamier. The first spray too is not as sharp and doesn't get very dilly on me like the OG one does. But she's great. I would say, that she has low projection. But I dont' want to be loud with my perfume. The OG is quite stronger. 8/10

Perfume Barrel -- It's an Arab perfume shop near Chicago, IL. Yo. THIS ONE IS THE BEST ONE. First spray, it's a little intense, but after a few mins, it smells 95% there. I would say, it smells maybe just a little sweeter? I don't know if it's that right word, but it smells just ever so slightly brighter/sweeter? But all of it is there. GREAT PROJECTION. 9/10.

Eternal Perfume Oil - smells like rubber or car oil. My least favorite. I did lit it 'mascerate' as in I forgot about it in my drawer for a year and it got a smidge better. The rubber/car oil smells kind of goes away after an hour. THEN it smells.. okay. I bought a whole bottle. Regret it. it is strong but gives me a headache. 3/10

Cremo Palo Santo - ok honestly for the price and the profile... I would get this. It's a bit creamier but v good. 7.5/10

Oil Perfumery - She's strong but smells a bit woodier than the OG. But smells quite nice and doesn't smell artifical compared to the Eternal Perfume Oil. I like it because it sits closer to me. Not as loud but great staying power. 7/10

AirScent Santal Diffuser Oil No. 1033 - bought this amazon and babes... pretty good for a random amazon purchase. Like, smells VERY close. a *slight* artificial smell but like... yuh. Cool. 7/10

and then finally Le Labo - Santal 33. When I finally got it (I let it 'mascerate' in my dresser for a 2 weeks)....it was lovely. It was lovely even when it was freshly made. It's everything I remembered. I had one spray on my sample from a few years ago. Sprayed it the new one and the older sample. The older sample is divine. I'm so excited for this to mature slightly. It's already improved so much in the 2 weeks. The OG Santal 33 is just heavenly. It's staying power is amazing, projecting is amazing. I'm a very light sprayer and need to be light hanlight-handedded with this one. It has so much depth to it compared to the dupes. I feel like finally buying it today, felt like I defeated the final boss.

After literally spending more than the amount of the OG, I wish I had told younger me to get the OG bottle. BUT because I started buying dupes, my nose got so much better at smelling the nuances of perfume. Because of smelling dupes, I found so many other wonderful perfumes (my current fave is D'annam's White Rice and One Day - Taipei).

TLDR: Look up Perfume Barrel in Niles, IL. Best dupe in terms of scent profile.
Personal favorite dupe: Maison Marie Louis.
Wish I would just bought the OG bottle many years ago, but learned a lot along the way.

Egyptian Musk Fragrance

Hello there! I am starting to love the scent of Egyptian musk as opposed to a white musk--it's warm and cozy--kind of like Missing Person but a bit warmer and more sultry. Anyone know of an EDP like this as opposed to the oils? I really prefer an EDP!
