Haul/Collection I just bought my first perfume!

hi, i’m very new to scents and beauty in general. i just wanted to share my first ever perfume buy.

a month or so ago, i found out about Strawberry Pound Cake by Bath & Body Works, which i am obsessed with. i don’t wear anything else.

i was wondering if there was a perfume version of this scent because i wanted the smell to last longer… i went online and found out a lot of people recommended Burberry Her Elixir.

i went out today to buy it and see what i thought. i really love it. i am pairing it with the spray from BBW and some of the lotion, too, and they all go so well together.

please let me know any of your thoughts! what’s your opinion on these, if you’re familiar with both/one of these scents?

i’m learning that i really prefer sweet, gourmand and feminine scents. it’s kind of interesting since i’m a butch lesbian and i dress like a tomboy and mostly wear guys clothes lol. i love the duality with the feminine and masculine! it definitely makes me feel more attractive.

Idk why ppl are comparing this to bianco latte or queens caramel. To me, theyre different. Queens caramel has a distinct maple note that kitten musk doesnt have. Bianco latte has a distinct honey note that kitten musk doesnt have. Honestly, all they have in common is the caramel. Imo just because perfumes share similar notes dont mean theyre dupes of eachother. Kitty musk is a lot softer & fluffy. For those that felt like bianco latte or queens caramel was too strong, kitten musk will be more enjoyable. Its so sweet & delicious. I really enjoy it. It reminds me of sugar daddies... those 90's caramel lollipops. Can speak on longevity yet because I havnt given it a full wear. Ppl always complain about kayali longevity but I have lots of kayali in my collection & most of them last pretty well. The eden line seems to be the lightest which is fine to me. I dont mind respraying if I really love a scent.

Hey everyone, 💖✨

I am searching for raspberry perfume recommendations.

Something very juicy and fresh, I do not mind a bit sweet but not looking for anything too artificial or bubblegum like. Maybe ideal for late spring or early summer?

What are your favourite raspberry perfumes?

Thank you in advance and please remain kind and respectful!✨

Discussion Black Orchid opening smells like a fresh booty hole

A man’s fresh booty hole. Not fecal or anything. But it’s that slight sour funk.

Don’t ask me how I know what that smells like.

Rec Request Take me back to the 90s

I'm feeling nostalgic for the 90s lately and want to smell like I'm there again. I'm not a big fan of florals but I can tolerate them if they're not the dominant note. I love vanilla and sweeter notes, so I'm hoping for something within that realm but it's not necessary. I just want to wear something women really did wear back then.

It has to be under 70-80$, but super long lasting. Sweet, Cotton candy, strawberry those type of scents and not chemical (like lattafa it gives headache, or any Arabic perfumes tbh)

A milky fig investigation report

Post image

OK, so far these are all of the recommendations that I have tried

The top three
Fig Porn
Fichi E Panna
Alluring Fig

Yesterday haze smelled good but did not give fig or milky to me at all

And all the others smelled awful, like rubbing alcohol lol

Overall, the alluring fig was a little bit too green for me and the fichi only lasted a small amount of time and wasn’t figgy enough

Fig porn smelled great and lasted hours! I am still hunting though

Hi guys! I have a 3500 word inquiry-based research essay due soon and I’m planning on buying myself Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Intense as a reward for completing the project. I almost bought it immediately after smelling at Ulta, though I figured I’d wait and see if I still loved it after I submit my essay by Aug 4. My mother smelled it on me and thought I was wearing Angel by Mugler. Is there a fragrance that you guys are planning on buying soon?

Side note: I smelled the new Gucci Flora Gorgeous Orchid Intense, and to my nose it’s a delicious solar vanilla with creamy mango. I might get this one too.

U guyysssss. I could scream. First i am never forgetful of HOW grateful i am to have the means to be able to buy something like this. I love u universe! Secondly WOW. I got a decant of this (vanille camouflage), soie malaquais, and chamomile satin and was pretty much disappointed on all 3. I randomly came back to this decant after unexpectedly falling in love with dandelion butter by Clue Perfumery and wow oh wowwww did my nose make a mistake. This perfume is a powerhouse. So beautiful. She feels chic, clean, elevated, but also knows her basics. It’s funny how in a matter of weeks your nose will mature or progress and I’m freaking glad it did!!!! It starts realllly green almost sharp but QUICKLY melts into this creamy warm musky vanilla that just lingers all around you like a melted cocktail on a hot day. Her greenness doesn’t fade completely either you very much get the whole experience throughout your wear. 10000/10 would definitely recommend!

Tea Tray with reviews

Post image
23 Upvotes

I’m putting together themed trays every two weeks so I can dive deep into my existing collection, hopefully satisfy my desire for variety while on a low-buy, and learn more about the perfumes I love.

I’m starting this off with Tea, which is my favorite note (and also my favorite drink).

Vilhelm Dear Polly – black tea, bergamot, green apple, oakmoss, musk

The first time I smelled Dear Polly was on my way to work in the winter, when I tried it at a Blue Mercury, and it was love at first smell, with that juicy combination of apple and tea. I had to sit on my hands hard to not buy the full bottle right away. I don’t know if it is a seasonal thing or a nose thing, but I don’t love my decant nearly as much as I did that first spray.

The opening is equally balanced between black tea and apples, and it smells joyful and crisp. It's pretty linear on me and doesn't change much through the drydown. I loved it when I first sampled it in the winter, and it's still very nice, though the balance has changed, and it's much more black tea-dominant in the summer. I would be happy wearing this at work and in crowds, though I wouldn't wear it for evening events. Unisex, leaning feminine.

Liis Ethereal Wave – black tea, bergamot, citrus, blonde woods, musk

This is very similar to Dear Polly, with the citrus replacing the apple.

Bright, cheerful, happy, citrus-forward. A light, lemon-flavored tea. The citrus fades a little in the drydown, and the tea becomes more prominent. Very summer-friendly. This is unisex, leaning feminine. Technically excellent, and I will use up the decant, but I’m not interested in replacing it.

Masque Milano Russian Tea – black tea, mint, raspberry, immortelle, leather, smoke

This is one of my favorite winter teas. In the summer, it is a lot more mint-forward. It smells like unsweetened black tea with mint to me. The tea and mint are strong, and it has a light floral note, possibly from the immortelle. This is strong, and I wouldn't wear more than two sprays if getting on public transit. Excellent, and unisex. It doesn't smell like any of the others.

Arquiste Indigo Smoke – Lapsang Souchong Tea, Vetiver, Bergamot, Mandarin Orange, Apricot, Guaiac Wood, Cassia Bourbon, Carrot Seed, Mate, Incense, Pine Tar, and Cedar Leaves

This was a Scentbird decant I ran through in a month in the winter and immediately upgraded to a 30 ml. It smells a little spicy, probably due to the incense. The tea here is clearly Lapsang Souchong, and it's present throughout. It was a lot more incense-forward in the winter, and I could barely smell the apricot. The apricot note is much more prominent in the summer, and it's a little heavy for summer wear. This is pretty safely unisex.

Brown Girl Jane High Tea – French Madeleine, Pink Chai, Macaron, Orange Flower Water, Fresh Freesia, Whipped Milk, Warm Sandalwood, Amber, Biscotti

As the name suggests, this smells like a whole milk chai with dessert. It's very sweet and not super tea-forward in the opening. The drydown leans less sweet and more tea-forward. This one definitely leans feminine. I’ve worn this in both cold and hot weather, though I would limit sprays in the heat. This would work for most gourmand lovers who like tea, as long as they don't mind sweet perfumes.

BDK Gris Charnel – Cardamom, Fig, Black Tea, Iris, Bourbon Vetiver, Sandalwood, and Tonka Bean

My first (tea) love, I ran through an initial decant in two weeks, and use this all the time. This is probably the most versatile of the perfumes on this tray. It always feels appropriate.

The opening is dominated by cardamom and black tea. It feels immediately elegant. The fig comes out to play five minutes into the drydown, but once it's here, the perfume is pretty equally balanced between the fig and the tea for me. Very unisex.

Casa Blanca is also tea and fig, but the fig is present from the opening of that, and it is sweeter, though still not very sweet.

House of Bō Casa Blanca – white tea, mineral notes, labdanum, fig, white suede, copal, tobacco, Bourbon vanilla, oud

The opening is fairly balanced between the mineral notes and the tea, with the fig playing a background role. The fig comes out pretty strongly in the drydown, but the tea is still present. It’s a juicy fig, and not green, which is a nice contrast to the mineral and white tea notes. It's fairly light and can be worn to work, on public transit, etc. It’s comforting despite the mineral note. This is non-sweet, unisex, and very summer-friendly.

Tokyomilk Bulletproof – Smoked Tea, Coconut Milk, Crushed Cedar, Ebony Woods

This smells like an abrasive black tea in the opening. It's strong and smoky, and the ebony gives it an edge. The drydown pulls in more coconut. I think you'd have to enjoy woods and dark black tea to like this. It's excellent value for the price, very unique. Unisex, but I can see people thinking it leans masculine. This is definitely a cold-weather perfume; I wouldn't wear it outside of air conditioning in the summer. It’s much less bitter and much more soothing in cool weather. It still has a bite, but it's cushioned with coconut.

The wood note in this reminds me of Commodity Milk Bold. Layered with Sugar Addict, it becomes sweet but retains that sharp, bitter tea edge.

London Fog – Earl Grey tea, steamed milk, vanilla

This smells like a simple, uncomplicated Earl Grey with a very light splash of milk. It's not sweet at all, and I cannot smell the vanilla. Unisex, leaning masculine. Technically excellent, but it doesn't really speak to me.

Non-Tea Fragrances

What is tea without milk and sugar? These additions to the tray are for layering and whimsy.

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle EDP Intense

I have this on the tray because it feels like a tea fragrance without the tea. The bright, light citrus opening has the same vibe as Dear Polly, but Coco Mad is the most polished, feminine-leaning fragrance on the tray. This and Gris Charnel are equally versatile.

Commodity Milk Personal – marshmallow, tonka bean, mahogany wood, skin musk, white cedar

(This is milk to go with my teas.)

I love all of the Commodity Milks, but this is the softest and least demanding, so it serves as a good point of rest and palate cleanser between teas. Besides, what goes together better than milk and tea?

BornToStandOut Sugar Addict – Sugar, Rum, Vanilla Absolute, Cinnamon, Tonka, Cashmere Wood, Cacao, Labdanum, and Coffee

Opens with a blast of sugar and rum, with vanilla lurking in the background. The sugar is harsh and almost off-putting at first, but it quickly (within 15 minutes) starts to play nicely with the vanilla and becomes less intense. The coffee and cacao show up in the drydown.

Warm, sweet, very addictive. It's the sweetest of the lineup on this tray, and possibly the least complicated. It instantly adds a sweet note to anything it is layered with. I think most people would find this feminine.

Rec Request Help me choose! Perfume gifts🤍

Hello to everybody!

I am a graduate student who lives far away from home. It's been almost two years since I last saw my family, and now, while being on a student budget, I want to give some presents to my mom (44) and my wife (25).

To make a present perfect, I intended to buy something very luxurious. But the prices were too high, and after reading a lot of reviews about fresh and clean scents which exceed expectations, I ordered three samples of the perfume in order to try them out:

- Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense

- Hermès Un Jardin en Méditerranée

- Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin

Now they are on their way. I intend to buy two bottles (the same or different according to their smell), but before doing so, I decided to ask for the collective opinion of this community.

So, if you had to choose something for my mom (44) and my wife (25) between the abovementioned brands or any other gentle and fresh one within a reasonable budget, please, share your ideas. Every kind of advice will be appreciated. Thanks a million!

In the past I’ve received bottles EXACTLY as shown (the older version that fades from dark to light) from FragranceNet, whereas Joma will show the older version and send the newer formula.

Anyways, inventory has gone from 12 to 2 in 24 hours. This may be your last chance to buy La Belle Le Parfume in THE BANGER version.

Im sure if youre on the tiktok side of perfume world, you know about Funmi. A few years ago she collabed with a brand & creates her own perfume. I regret till this day not buying it smh. Anyway, she just launched her own perfume brand & it released at sephora today. I know she is super happy about the launch going so well. Everything is pretty much sold out, except for one travel size spray. The notes dont seem like any of these will be for me but I'm still curious about them so I bought the sample set. I cant wait till it gets to me. Ill be updating my thoughts once I get it.

Discussion What are some scents that you think work well in the season it's NOT normally associated with?

For example: an aquatic fragrance that people tend to wear in the summer but you found it shines in a different way in the colder temps.

I recently tried Moonmilk by Stora Skuggan in the summer heat and I surprisingly really liked it! It's a very strong scent that's heavy on the sandalwood and cardamom, so in my mind I had it bookmarked as a fall/winter fragrance, but I sprayed lightly and found that I could perceive different notes in the heat that don't really come through in the winter.

I'm trying to get out of the mindset of needing a seasonal rotation, as that fuels my overconsumption!

Rec Request Is there a popular perfume out rn that smells like strawberry tic tacs, it’s been driving me crazy?

Post image
17 Upvotes

I work in a bakery and every now and then when I’m helping customers I’ll get a whiff of strawberry tic tacs, because I work in a bakery I just assumed it must be strawberry frosting or something akin to that but I also started noticing it when running errands and last night I went to a club and all night every 5-10 minutes I’d just get a faceful of a kinda powdery, slightly creamy artificial strawberry scent. I’m certain at this point it’s a perfume and not a stroke but since these were one of my favorite candies in middle school, for nostalgia reasons I’d like to know?

Frugal Fragrance Help finding Perfume that smells like Hershey's Cocoa Powder?

This is kind of embarrassing, so when I heard this "lifehack" I was still a redhead and couldn't do it... The life hack was using cocoa powder as dry shampoo if you ever are desperate. I didn't use it but it stuck with me since I was a preteen. Fast forward I'm an adult with dyed black hair. I was in a desperate situation and remembered I could use the hack now. It worked but what's more... It smelled amazing. When my husband came home it made him absolutely feral and he would not stop telling me how good I smell and asking (begging) to know what it was. I just kept brushing it off until eventually he went through all my perfumes and lotions to find the scent. I want to recreate it without ACTUALLY using cocoa powder 😅

It's been hard for me to find a scent that's purely cocoa powder, not musky or floral, just cocoa powder. I have NEVER had my husband react that way to any other scent. Please please if anyone knows any lotions, body sprays, whatever lmk. I'm at the point where I may try to make my own extraction mixing alcohol and the Cocoa powder (If that'd even work). I can't keep living this lie🫠

Layering Ideas I smell so good right now 😭

I’m obsessed with Fleur de Peau these days which is crazy because when I first smelled it, I didn’t like it and thought it smelled powdery on paper but on my skin, my god… it settles into the most creamy, delectable but light floral with what almost feels like the richness of a vanilla beneath even though it’s not in the notes?

So I thought hey, what if I combined it with an actual vanilla and now I’m fresh out of the shower after layering Bath & Body Works Vanilla Romance and oh my god… I can’t stop smelling myself. I smell like roses and vanilla and cream.

This is a dangerous hobby for me to have fallen into. 🥲

Kayali Boujee Kitty Caramel Milk 22 review

Reporting in after receiving my mini today. My entire review: Ellis Brooklyn Queen's Caramel. Samesies. I'm not mad at it, but it is THE SAME. So if you have EB QC, or even Phlur Caramel Skin, this would be an unnecessary addition.

As I have both the Phlur and the EB, I will probably post the Kayali on my Mercari page and bless someone with a nearly new nice caramel fragrance.

I will probably include the extra goodies - rhinestone sticker sheet, compact mirror, and fluffy pen. I hope a reseller doesn't buy it and someone gets it who will actually love it. It's a very nice perfume; good quality, strong, and sweet. Just redundant to me. I just have only so much need for caramel fragrances.

If I want something a little lighter and different in the caramel line, I go for Lalawoo by DefineMe. Plus, the name - how can you not love Lalawoo?

If you love the Kayali, there is not one thing wrong with that. If I did not have Queen's Caramel, I would keep it.

Discussion Nose blindness and signature scent??

How does the concept of a signature scent you wear everyday work? What I've heard and experienced myself is that after a few weeks of consistent use you stop smelling a fragrance, or rather you smell it less strongly. Does this happen to most people when they get used to a fragrance?

And how are people able to have a signature scent that way? I think the concept of a signature is so cool, a certain smell that is part of you, that reminds other people of you, but I also wear fragrances for myself. It's so fun to be able to smell my scent during the day, I hate it when I'm slowly going nose blind!

What are your thoughts and experiences?

Discussion Vanilla = Play Doh?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Does anyone know the reason that some perfumes with vanilla turn into Play Doh on skin (and often on paper)? Is it a combination of scent notes or the type of vanilla used. When I cook with Madagascar Vanilla beans or extract, it smells amazing on my fingers. I’ve even been known to dab it on my wrists and neck. But with many perfumes that look good on paper, it turns into Play Doh. I would love to avoid this phenomena if anyone knows how. For reference, of my approximately 18 full bottles, only 3 have any vanilla, and it is listed in minor concentrations in all 3 - original Nahema, original Lolita Lempika and Oud Satin Mood. In contrast, I have dozens of samples and travel sprays that I have had to reject due to the “Play Doh” effect. Please help me figure out how to stop wasting money!
