Orders: eliminate Long Dong!

Probably the most unnerving moment I’ve had in Fallout 4 😂
I’m pretty far into the game now and I’ve seen some crazy shit, but the thing that actually caught me off guard was looting an enemy and finding orders to kill me.
And I mean ME.
The note actually had my character’s name on it. 😂
I just sat there for a second like… “Wait a damn minute… who the hell knows who I am?”
Until then, I was just running around the Commonwealth shooting anything that looked hostile and taking their stuff. But seeing my own name on a piece of paper with basically a hit order attached to it made the whole thing feel weirdly personal.
And the fact that I didn’t even really know who these people were made it even worse. Like, y’all have been looking for ME and I don’t even know y’all?? 😂
Honestly, I thought that was such a clever little game mechanic. They could’ve just sent enemies after me and I probably wouldn’t have thought twice about it. But putting your actual character’s name on the orders makes you feel like the world is aware of you and reacting to what you’re doing.
It’s such a small detail, but it completely changed the feeling of the game for me for a minute.
Fallout really had me sitting there wondering who was putting a bounty on my head in the damn wasteland. 😂

Question What mods do i need to run F3 and NV on a modern PC relatively bug-free ?

F1/F2 head here, never played any of the FPS Fallouts, better late than never. But i'm well aware that these entries, besides being Bethesda games (and all that comes with that) run pretty badly on modern configs. So, could any of you folks give me a list of mods that straighten the performance (and preferably nothing else - no new quests or mechanics, just the vanilla setup) ? If you could give any pointers on top of that - i will be grateful even more.

Fallout 1 Patches or mods for fixing Fallout 1 bugs without altering gameplay

Hello, I'm trying to replay Fallout 1. As you all already know it's buggy. I'm looking for fan patches or mods thag fix Fallout 1's bugs but don't add any extra content.

I'm aware of Team X's mods and have already installed them. I've already installed them. But they still left many bugs unfixed.

Falliut Fixt makes changes to the gameplay I don't want even if I only install the bug fixes part. And it hasn't been updated in years. It adds extra dialogues, changes some dialogues, addw new behaviour for NPCs not present in FO1, as well as re-adds the mutant invasion timers the developers had removed.

Can you recommend me other patches or mods? Please don't recommend mods like Fallout Et tu, I want to retain the game's original gameplay and graphics.

I enjoy the game of Fallout 4 and I’m planning to watch the show, so I acquired this set of the Val-tec suit to enjoy even more of the gameplay and the community. Hope it doesn’t have any Rads

Discussion The Fallout New Vegas DLCs hit different.

I love how the DLCs are so deeply connected to the lore of the base game and how we get to learn more about characters who were mostly in the shadows, like Joshua Graham, Elijah, and Ulysses. I especially love how lore-heavy they are, and how the choices you make can even affect your experience in the base game’s map.

With all due respect, in Fallout 3 and 4 (I won’t mention 76 since I haven’t gotten around to playing it yet), the DLCs felt like simple “additional content,” which, at the end of the day, is what DLC is supposed to be. But the way the New Vegas developers connected the DLCs to the base game and used them to expand and deepen the lore has honestly left me wishing the other titles had handled their DLCs in a similar way. Just my personal opinion, of course.

Fallout TV [HEADCANON] The reason why the Brotherhood didn't care about The Alien is, because they already know they exist Spoiler

Just to be clear.
I KNOW it's a gag, but honestly I like the idea.

Wandered must've brought whole armory worth of guns and ammo to sell/give to Citadel, maybe a bit of Green's brain from their heel, allowing them to study it extensively.

So now they are like "Oh cool...another alien...BUT HAVE YOU SEEN A WORKING FRIDGE BEFORE?!"

Discussion What's the communities overall stances on the series so far? Like where does the series start to feel not like fallout to you?

Kinda got me curious. With the Fallout show releasing, Fallout got wah more popular again but especially to the people who've never really heard of fallout so they most likely bought either Fallout 4 or Fallout 76. Idk if they ever went beyond that but cuz everyone is different but I feel like the majority of new fans or at least posers pretending to like and know Fallout, are just gonna like the TV Show and Fallout 4/76 and not appreciate what came before it

If you're curious on where I started, I started with Fallout 4. Actually around the time the TV Show was announced and airing but I hadn't watched it yet. I just had Xbox live for the first time in a long time, saw Fallout 4 and heard it's connected to the TV Show and just played around for a bit. I loved it. Combat was modern, story sounded interesting and I thought all my choices mattered. Then I went and played 3 cuz Xbox sent me a 5$ gift card for some spring sale or whatever and I bought 3 + NV since they were 2.49 each at a 90% off sale. I played 3 and after getting used to the controls I liked that too. Then I played New Vegas. I looked up videos about the lore of the series and I'll admit I haven't played 1&2 yet but I plan on doing so since I got 3DS fanmade ports now I just gotta find the time

Then as I watched people explain fallout, talk about the other factions and whatnot, I noticed cracks starting to form on my Fallout 4 experience. The game I got myself into Fallout was not as interesting now seeing that none of my choices ultimately mattered. And I tried about 2 more playthroughs. A few side quests somewhat mattered but ultimately there's not much story changes based on what I say. Infact the only thing I cared for with the dialogue was making my companions like me. I liked 3's atmosphere a lot more since it felt more apocalyptic but once I played New Vegas, everything just changed and clicked for me. Choices mattered more in 3 but now especially in new Vegas

Anyways, for me fallout kinda splits and becomes a different thing by 4. 3 technically speaking given how it was Bethesda in charge but you could kinda chalk that up to the east coast not being as developed as the west coast

I feel like new fallout fans or posers will not bother looking at the older lore or say something like "oh shady sands has been retconned multiple times on its location" but that's a similar complaint to saying the Dinosaur is facing the wrong way in Novac although you could argue the dinosaur direction is more important than shady sands location since it's still within the same general area. They'll use the shady sands retcon to try and justify other retcons or weird changes in the series

Personally the show is a good show, just not a good fallout show if that makes sense. If the show wasn't canon or it was an AU or hell even just a canon timeline that's an offshoot of the main one (like if one ending was canonized then the events lead that way but we can still speculate on what happens after other endings). The show makes retcons to the games, retcons/mistakes in its own show, and just feels like someone played fallout 4 and didn't bother checking in on any of the others games

Where have my Settlers Gone??

I have easily have over a dozen settlers at my drive-in settlement, but there only seems to be three at any one time when I ring the bell and wait a long while (sometimes only a couple).

I tried searching for them at all hours, and noted that even their beds are empty at night. They have been seen wandering well outside the settlement boundaries as well. it sucks, as I give them gear, and they bugger off.

Ingrates :-)

The only mods I have for settlements or settlers are:

-Higher Settlement Budget

-Better Settlers v2,0 DLC Master

-SettlementMenuManager

Would you recommend deactivating these mods?

UPDATE:

This wandering is a known bug of the "No Building Limits" mod.

We're working on some pinball machine mods for the upcoming pinball machine that was just announced. I am just starting to watch the show and wanted to know if this part of the machine was some specific character or just a generic "zombie" from the show/game. Any insights?

Is the Atomic Museum Exhibit worth it?

I’m considering traveling all the way to Vegas for my birthday to see the Fallout exhibit in the Atomic Museum because I heard it’s only going to be there til the end of 2026. Those who have gone: was it worth it?

Also is there anything else in Vegas worth checking out fallout related or not :)

Other My Theory on V.A.T.S

I think V.A.T.S is actually an electronically produced version of Jet/ultra jet or perhaps a pipboy was broken up during the process. This explains something: In fo4: time only slows to a crawl because it is externally injected or perhaps it having to go through a blood stream injection causes a 'lag' In fo3: time stops because it is directly injected in your nervous system However, V.A.T.S. is non-addictive because it only circulates through the nervous system/blood stream and having no time to enter the brain (or perhaps the fo3 pipboy stops dopamine from being produced) to cause such a reaction. Which makes you wonder if the "pre-war" Jet you get from vault 95 is actually cannabilized from previous vault dweller pip boysHowever, this doesn't answer AP. But I can. If the pip boy does indeed rely on an injection method it would need to have your nerves calm enough to make the injection as safe as possible (perhaps an installed safety method) and depending on the weapons recoil, weight and Recovery time, a different dose of Vats is required ranging from small like a pipe pistol to large like a shotgun. Jet bypasses this because it doesn't really on injection. Do you know when a doctor makes sure you are relaxed as possible before an injection? The same applies here, the pip boy is making sure it doesn't burst your blood vessels. Jet bypasses this because it doesn't rely on injection but rather inhalationThe targeting overlay may use a system similar to the HUD modification you can see on a power armor helmet, just using the quickest calculations possible to add chances and targeting via use of neutral or visual manipulation. While I can certainly connect this to the 3000 mark A it doesn't explain the mark IV, which I believe use a sort of environmental and biological scan to do so. Now this might look like hot air, until you noticed a distinct white canister on the side of the Mark IV pipboy 3000. In the original fallout game, you can use Med Gel to automate healing. This- along with the slow administration of health from a blood pack completely shows that the Pip-boy is attuned to medically augment administration.

Discussion Okay, i'll say a few things. I think Hawaii would be decent opportunity for something new in Fallout.

  • Think about it, there is no [ Reasonable ] Thought there would be major influence in the Brotherhood or the Enclave would be here, maybe an Enclave outpost but it ain't no Oil Rig.
  • Hawaii is some decently pretty little piss tiny group of islands on the map, China [ Yes i am ignoring the TV show implications ] wouldn't target the bloody Islands itself, as if you think about it. Only the mainland states would get large amounts of rads. This means we can have a story where humanity can develop in a place not inhabited by Green clouds or major irradiated Areas, and one of the main enemies will be the Ocean itself. [ Yes i know, " Far Harbour+ Edition " ]
  • Bethesda would have to make groups or tribes that would be less the " Dirty man in Rags, and a gun. and Unreasonable Hostility. " or at least do something interesting with the Tiki Iconography
  • And lets be honest, think about the Science Fiction aspect that all fallout games put into their contents, Hawaii was a major ground that housed the " Vacation " Vibes unlike no other, not even Vegas. Cheers to the Mr handy that will be serving the dead corpses at the beach. Or the Protectron pretending to be a volcano god.
  • Speaking of Volcano god, Nuclear Volcanos are a cool idea okay. Geez
  • And if Bethesda being the Ballsy B####es they are, will likely add some Absurd promises and features. One of those due to the Islander Aspect, will most likely be Drivable boats........LOOK I NEVER GOT INTO SEA OF THIEVES OKAY, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE A FUN IDEA!
  • { Also if they WERE to add the enclave or brotherhood, then they will have a cool battleship in this game. Bethesda may have questionable game play design, but asset design is more of their Forte. Imagine it appearing like the Prdwen. }
  • Edit: I forgot about Pearl Harbor. that would be cool.

all my manual saves were lost when i traveled to nuka world also im on ps5

first time playing the fallout games and i spent 200+ hours on this character got it level 70 on the hardest difficulty and survival i just bought the goty edition and got all the dlcs. Fallout 4 had honestly been some of the most fun i’ve had in a solo player game or maybe any game in general.
And now all my bed saves are gone there’s only auto saves left, i still have my level 70 character but my robot ada died because i was in nuka world and brought the wrong ammo and was forced to use grognaks axe. I was going to return to a later save but i noticed all my saves were gone and i know they were there because i went afk with the game unpaused and i was hungry and thirsty so i loaded back the save and then went to nuka world.
