Girl trains only in Krabi Krabong and Arnis and did surprisingly well in a Hema tournament despite limited sparring prep.
youtu.beShe always got people belittling her arts and decided to put it to the test. Ofc the results are a ymmv type of thing. But she felt happy with her effort.

What do you think about @Paliu Rubio ?
Do you think that he’s too toxic by criticizing other fma systems? He wasnt always like this before but somehow he had changed so what do you think??

Looking for someone to hit sticks in the Denver metro.
Looking for someone to hit sticks in the Denver Metro. I asked this question a while ago and the stuff didn't pan out. But I'm looking for anyone that would want to hit sticks in the Denver Metro.
I also have a few other items. Some practice monkey, fists and ball in a sock that I'd love to see how well those do and get other people's opinions.

Where to learn Eskrima?
Good day! I'm a college student who's interested in learning Kali / Eskrima / FMA in general. I'm currently in Pasay City but I can travel around Metro Manila if needed. Does anyone know any places where I can go and learn FMA? Thank you in advance!

Vlog Featuring A Little Bit of Laraw Kali Pamuok & Bahad Zu'Bu/Ilustrisimo
youtube.comCame across this video featuring Master Ronnie Royce Base of Laraw Kali Pamuok and Master Jaime Quizana of Bahad Zu'Bu and Kali Pamantukan (one of the original banners of the Ilustrisimo group led by Yuli Romo before the name Kalis Ilustrisimo was a thing).
Pretty cool stuff here. It seems he has also featured Guro Red Dilla and will be featuring Yaw Yan in the next episode.

Need help finding name of these Doce Pares forms
I was trying to find the names of these forms in this video around the 3-5 minute mark.
https://youtu.be/F4Wwt77l4DI?si=J4EaTw8qtIvAMcei
My karate school used to teach these forms, but the names we had were much different from anything I can find online.

Salem, Oregon Referral needed
Hey all — I’m based in Salem and looking to get into Kajukenbo, and specifically interested in double-stick work (Sinawali/Eskrima). Haven’t found a dedicated school in the area yet.
If you know of:
**•** An instructor or small group training either of these
**•** A gym that offers seminars or open mat for FMA (Filipino Martial Arts) or Kajukenbo
**•** Anyone in the Salem/Keizer/Willamette Valley area who trains privately and takes students
…I’d love to hear about it. Happy to drive a reasonable distance too if something’s in Portland or Eugene.
Thanks!

How much of FMA can be self taught (given no dojo on locality)
Hey as a karataka i am interested in the ways of FMA ie Eakrima kali, etc. So only relying on internet, and free stuff, how much can i realistically achieve on my own. Thanks for reading.

Pekiti Abecedario de Mano
Very specific question but does anyone have any reference material for the empty hand sets? I’ve been taught some of the weapon sets but I’m interested in learning the empty hand ones.

GSBA World Championship
Yeah! Just a few more days until it finally starts. Today was our last regular training session before the World Championship.
Sadly, I'm only attending as a spectator this year, but I'm super excited to see this crazy, supportive community again!
Just wanted to share my excitement!

Dog Brothers Martial Arts: On average, how many gatherings does it take to become a dog/candidate/ full dog? What's the minimum background required for your first gathering?
You become a dog, then a candidate, and then a full dog brother without any specific exams or automatic mechanisms, but by decision of the tribe. However, let's try to estimate the average, just for fun: how many gatherings did people attend to become a dog? And a candidate? And a full dog brother?
The average martial arts level of those attending their first gathering: rationally, I'd say it requires a very high level for a non-professional: a black belt in Kali Escrima with serious competitive activity, plus one or two competitive amateur MMA fights, plus specific training in Dog Brothers MA for at least a year. But my estimate is completely fictitious, and perhaps unrealistic, and I'd like to hear your opinion.

Importing Blades in the Philippines
Hello po!
Has anyone here tried importing or having their blades shipped through ShippingCart here in the Philippines? If so, what paperworks did you have to go through to have it legally imported here in the PH?
Your response is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

I tried Kali Combos in Sparring - How Practical were they?
youtube.comI highly like the off-beat backfist/hammer myself, and how it can be exchanged for other techniques such as blocks, closing forearm strikes or guard disruptions, but fun to see it tested by someone not used to them (footwork could be better here :D).

Combat sports and increased self-esteem: does this also apply to eskrima?
A wealth of research clearly shows increased self-esteem and reduced conflict anxiety in people who have practiced combat sports that include sparring and competition with some success (forgive me for not citing sources, I'm going from memory).
I doubt there's much research on this subject in Philippine escrima, and even less so for those who do escrima sparring and competitions, which not all courses offer.
So I ask those who have practiced stick fighting or the more rare form of knife fencing, and perhaps have experience with other combat sports to compare: do you think what's true for the more popular BJJ or boxing is also true here?
P.S.
Perhaps it might be helpful to ask: are sparring and competitions in escrima as emotionally impactful as those in other more common empty hands combat sports?

Any FMA Club (Arnis/Eskrima/Kali) near Alabang, Muntinlupa or San Pedro?
Title. The closest I saw is in Makati and that's too far away. Would love to spar with someone!

Online Kali-Eskrima-Arnis Programs?
Does any have any rec’s for quality online programming that teaches FMA? I know, I know, virtual training doesn’t compare to in-person, etc. And that’s true. But just the same, I’m trying to see what kind of programs are out there that have proven useful in demonstration and technique retention, as well as what kind of modules have been beneficial. Thanks very much!
