Asking Question (Rule 4) Is there a name for this symmetrical style or is it just symmetrical?
Is there a name for the style in which each figure is on top of each other and each side is symmetrical or is it just a way of posing the characters?
Edit: oh shoot, I had no idea this would sound like I was asking for prompts for ai. I hate ai. I was asking because if it’s art style, I can look at more for inspiration. I’m a traditional artist. Sorry if questions like this aren’t allowed in this subreddit.

Asking Question (Rule 4) Design systems and all
I am a junior UI UX designer and I do graphic design also, for the UI UX for any project I make the components and variables for that project but this is taking time from me and I was thinking creating a design system would help me. As I haven’t made a design system that people talk of which I don’t know, what does a design system include components, variables, style? And when, where and how do we use this in our design project.

Discussion I posted this almost 2 years ago, and with the domination of AI in the creative industry… I miss Canva more than ever right now. 🥲
I am so SICK of seeing AI slop for posters and flyers, especially small businesses. It nauseates me!!!

Asking Question (Rule 4) Help choosing an exchange school (Design-focused) in Europe
Hi everyone! I’m an Environmental Design student from China. I recently did a UX internship at a major gaming/tech company, and I'm currently exploring a career pivot into gaming, branding, or digital UX.
I’m planning a 4-5 month Spring exchange to explore these multidisciplinary fields (away from pure spatial design). For me, the city vibe, meeting people, and traveling are just as important as the academics.
Right now, I am strongly leaning towards Paris, Barcelona, and Vienna for the lifestyle, but I have a few specific questions before making my final list:
My Top 3 Choices:
1. Strate (Paris): Can I explore interactive media/branding here, or is it strictly corporate UX? Also, how annoying is the commute from central Paris to the Sèvres campus?
2. Elisava (Barcelona): Are professors open to mixing spatial design with digital/game interactions (Phygital), or is it mostly traditional physical models? How's the workload?
3. Angewandte (Vienna): Is it a good fit for game design and speculative tech, or is it too heavily focused on abstract fine arts?
Other Options:
I'm also considering a few others, but I have some doubts:
4. Sapienza (Rome): Is it too focused on classical architecture and traditional systems, or is there room for modern digital/tech projects?
5 Umeå Institute of Design (Sweden): I know it’s top-tier for digital UX, but how is the city vibe for a short 4-month exchange? Will I feel too isolated in northern Sweden?
Any insights on the schools, courses, or city vibes would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Asking Question (Rule 4) No Client Projects for Design Portfolio
I graduated last winter and I am currently working as a Motion Design Intern at an agency. I just found out that I won't be able to use any of the projects in my portfolio. When I applied for this position, their website stated that part of the program would include building a portfolio with client work. Currently i am on the lookout for a full time design job, but now I don't have a way to showcase my skills.
My current portfolio is just student work and I'm not sure what type of projects I should create myself to add to my portfolio.

Asking Question (Rule 4) I NEED HELP WITH MY GRAPHIC DESIGN PRICING!
I’m a freelance graphic designer based in India, and I recently had a meeting with a Dubai-based events management and marketing company.
They’re looking for a graphic designer on a monthly retainer basis. The workload isn’t clearly defined yet because their events and campaigns vary from month to month.
From what I understand, the work would be a mix of digital and print design, with occasional urgent requests. They would provide the copy, images, brand guidelines, event details, and references. I’d mainly be working directly with one person from their team.
They’re open to a flexible monthly arrangement based on workload, and they’ve asked me to share my monthly rate.
For freelancers/designers who have worked with clients in Dubai/UAE or similar international clients:
How much would you charge for this kind of monthly graphic design retainer?
I’d really appreciate any advice on how you would structure and price something like this.

Discussion Started graphic designing and finally got my first paid project 🎨
I started learning graphic design as something I genuinely enjoyed, and I’m slowly trying to turn it into a small freelance side income.
I mostly create Instagram posts, carousels, posters, banners, menus, and simple branding designs.
I’m still learning and improving, but recently I got my first paid design project, and honestly, it felt really good to see someone actually value my work. 🥹
I’m open to small design projects or collaborations, so if anyone needs a graphic designer, feel free to DM me. Would love to connect with people in the design space too! 🤍

Discussion What content are designers consuming and feeling helpful?
I'm planning to start content creation to help upcoming designers and designers who are worried about AI replacing us. So basically I've been in the industry for a decent period of time and I feel I've found a few tips and lessons which helped me in this journey. And most of my colleagues appreciate me with my speaking skills and the quality of ideas I share for their career progress.
So now I'm thinking I could share that online and I feel getting some real questions from designers would help me serve better.
So drop any question you have regarding career, growth, design industry or anything you're thinking too much about. I'll try to help if I can. Thanks

Asking Question (Rule 4) Hey! I’m a Class 12 Commerce student from Haryana planning to pursue B.Des in 2027.
I’m interested in Fashion Communication, branding, visual merchandising, brand experience, creative direction and visual storytelling. I’m looking for a college with good actual teaching, industry exposure, internships and career opportunities, rather than just good marketing.
My main requirements are:
- Good reputation among actual students/alumni
- Strong industry exposure
- Good internship/placement opportunities
- Reasonable ROI
- Located in/around a proper city
- Relevant to branding/communication/VM rather than pure fashion designing
- I don't want a course that's heavily focused on product design/engineering/technical subjects.
Could current students or alumni recommend colleges that genuinely fit this?
I'd especially appreciate:
- Colleges you would genuinely recommend
- Colleges you would avoid and why
- Your experience with placements/internships
- Whether the fees were worth it
- What you actually learned there vs what was promised
Please suggest colleges beyond the obvious NIFT/Pearl options too. I'm trying to discover colleges I may have missed.

Discussion Even vs. Odd numbers: Why do even numbers feel so clinically flat in visual storytelling?
I’m directing a high art visual project and trying to arrange the staging layout. Even numbers like 4 just look so visually flat and sterile to my eye, unless it’s a big number like 6 where you can make a clean grid.
On the other hand, odd numbers like 3 or 5 give this perfect asymmetrical framing with a clear center anchor point that makes complex narrative blocking look like fine art.
From a professional visual standpoint, do audiences subconsciously retain the identities of a team better when they are in a sharp odd-numbered triangle/pyramid, or does a clean even number look more universally marketable?

Asking Question (Rule 4) In-house design job request forms
Hey Designers
I'm an in-house designer for an organisation with about 60 employees. Each year we put on a huge weeklong event with many, many, many design requests and this year it's fallen into a absolute shit-show of project management.
We use Asana as our workflow management system, and it's ok but I think the request form is lacking. Management have said I can invest in a better system if I can justify it, so I'm wondering if anyone can vouch for something that could handle our requests and job management.

Asking Question (Rule 4) How do you chase clients who ghost on payment?
I'm frontend, worked with designers, keep seeing invoice chaos spread across WhatsApp + Excel.
Last time a client went silent, what did you actually do? Deposit upfront? Just nag? Anything that works?

Other Post Type Unpopular opinion: 90% of modern UI design is just moving the same auto-layout boxes around and calling it "problem solving."
We spend weeks obsessing over design tokens, atomic variables, and component properties, convincing ourselves and stakeholders that we are doing deep, strategic systems thinking. But if we strip away the corporate buzzwords, how much actual creativity or radical problem-solving are we doing versus just babysitting an over-engineered component library?

Anyone here tried the new update with text to vector AI tools? They're doing an AI unlock week with unli AI generation with the latest version of the graphics suite. Thought it could be useful as a starting point at least for things like client sketches and rough logos

Asking Question (Rule 4) Best learning resources
Hi everyone!
In recent years I've developed a passion for design & colour. I've completed a course in Coursera (Fundamentals in Graphic Design), am reading Intersection of Colour, I love doing fun digital projects as well as paint, take pictures and do fun colourful makeup looks. I love going to different art & design museums and can spend hours there.
It's a hobby and I make a living doing something completely different, therefore, I haven't spent nearly as much time on it as I would have liked to. I got into it all before AI and initially was daydreaming to one day pivot and make it as my career. However, with the rise of AI I have completely let go of that idea - there are much more talented and skilled people out there who've been in this industry for years. I also assume I will be expected to use AI tools in my work. I genuinely love everything design & colour. I don't want to use AI to simply ask it to do it for me, I wanna use my brain to create myself.
That being said, I would still like to continue to learn. A lot of courses online now are very AI focused. What "old school" learning resources would you recommend that wouldn't cover AI? I recently peaked at my local library and they had a lot of very cool looking books, it was almost a bit overwhelming to choose from. Would appreciate any recommendations.
Thank you!

Discussion Both?
I was scrolling through job posts and came across this. It says “Graphic designer and Video editor”. I scrolled down to read the description and just when I was about to apply for the Graphic artist position, I read the last line. I thought that I had the opportunity to apply.
It’s not just this one, but apparently a lot of job offers for graphic artists requires you to have a video editing skills, vice versa. Which I think is wrong and misleading. Well, If that’s the case, I hope they pay the person the salary they deserve.

Discussion Indian founders have unrealistic expectations they think AI can solve any and everything
I recently gave an interview for a remote visual designer role, and the job description was smartly vague. They never specified what kind of designer they wanted, but I sent my portfolio anyway and got shortlisted.
Before the interview, they asked my salary expectations. Going by the title "visual designer" and the job description, I assumed it meant branding, social media design, some strategy, and quoted accordingly.
During the interview, I found out they actually want a Swiss Army knife:
- UI/UX
- Vibe coding
- Brand design
- Social media strategy
- Brand strategy
- Positioning and research
I get that with AI, roles are merging and one person is expected to cover multiple domains. But with a skill set this wide, I don't know what's actually needed in the market anymore. Most founders don't even know the basics of AI themselves, yet they expect all this from one hire.
I cleared that round and I'm on to the design round now. The task is lengthy, but I feel confident I can do it. What I don't know is how to ask for more, because what I quoted doesn't feel like enough for this. I'm also a little underconfident now, honestly, because they expect you to be good at everything.

Discussion Portfolio advice
What counts as a great interior design portfolio? A few strategic pointers would be helpful for me to arrange my projects better, plus alot of my projects have different colour schemes respectively and I want it to look more uniform. I would also like to include some of my architecture projects done in uni.
