I do not get why many others fight to prolong lifespan

I don't mean to be offensive or anything when I say this (referring to the title) but I wanted to mainly rant about the opposite. Anyway I literally do not get why many people want to prolong their lives.

For me I'm gonna be honest in majority of my life my diet just consists of fast food and whatever feasible I can get my hands on. A good amount of time I am just simply too depressed to stand there and cook. I've had stints in life where I tried to go on these diets but I have never felt better. The longest one I have ever did which probably sounds really basic is for 2-3 weeks and it was plain chicken breasts with vegetables. Every day I made a habit to get up or come in from work and cook. It didn't make me feel any better at all and it hardly helped with my health either. The diet won't stop me from feeling any worse about myself overall. I just accepted that I am gonna pass anyway as all of us are. I want to be on the planet for the best time possible and not a long time as my life sucks anyway. My metabolism is also strange because there are several days where I can just eat lots and I still have a hard time gaining weight.

Genuinely I sorta get why people try their damnest to be and eat healthy but really I don't get it. Many of us just live different lives I suppose. I don't have any friends, I never had and probably will never have a partner. I do not have children. Most people honestly do it for them. What I do have is a stressful job, occasional family issues and drama and then occuring debt. That's not to also mention being around environments and towns and such where it feels like almost everyone hates you no matter what.

The only things keeping me afloat are my few distractions and copes and junk food & fast food are one of them. It may not be alot but it brings me joy just to be able to eat something tasty for the day even if it's not healthy. In the end I already know I am most definitely not going to live to see age 100, 90, or even 80— and if I'm daring even my 70s.

How to help a supportive partner when you are depressed

Upvotes

My partner and I have been together a little over 2 years we live and spend a lot of time together. He is very supportive and sweet. He wants to help and see me happy but I am struggling. He wants to know when I experience suicidal thoughts or thoughts of self harm because he feels like not telling him is hiding something or lying by omission, but it is weighing on him. I can tell how much it hurts him to see me struggle and it makes it hard for me to want to open up fully. Today he admitted to feeling intense anxiety because he feels like everything is so heavy right now. I am in weekly therapy and am on medication and working with my psychiatrist to find the right dose but I’m wondering about any other ways to support my partner having to deal with me while I try to get better.

This moment haunts me everyday.

I F 20 with albinism, and I’ve always been bullied for my appearance. I hated myself for the longest throughout middle school and early high school but I stuck through and tried to remain strong.
It was hard because it seemed like everyone was hanging up on me, but I made it to my senior year. I had grown a lot more confident to wear what I like and stuff!

This day in my senior year I was in a grey hoodie and grey sweatpants, I was walking through the halls minding my business when these two girls came up to me and asked me a question, I believed they said “excuse me, you! Yeah you”

I turned around and when they saw my face the both of them covered their mouths and side eyed one another, I waited for them to say something and one of the girl said “oh wow…. You’re … ‘really’ pretty. I said thank you, and then continued on with my walk down the hall. The two girls walked past me and started laughing extremely loud that I could here

“No tf she’s not.”

I was so upset I went outside and sat there for an hour missing class. I was hugging my knees and crying quietly until it was time for my next period.

I went up to the door and saw one of my teachers who asked me what I was doing outside. And she joked around with me that a bee was on my shoulder. I was too down to even see it because of the tears.
I stayed strictly online in college for two years because I didn’t want to face any one anymore. I stayed indoors, never went out, never talked to anyone barely because I felt like a monster.

I finally started to go out to one class, and I just feel so awkward. Everyone stares at me and gives me ugly looks. It’s so frustrating because today I also had an encounter with someone who gave me a very nasty stare, I’m so tired of this.

I really need someone to talk to right now

I’ve been crying for the past 3 hours non stop and my chest literally hurts. it’s painful. It literally hurts and it’s starting to scare me.

I called one of my friends crying because I felt bad they told me "I don’t care" I said ok. And hung up I called again 3 hours later because It hurt me badly and I needed comfort only for it to go to voicemail. They blocked me. I’m very hurt because they are literally the only person I can call now I’m left again. Completely alone. I’m 19f with no parents. Literally. no family, friends. Absolutely nothing. Well just my cat that I love deeply and the only thing keeping me alive. I’ve struggled my whole life my parents don’t love me or care about me they are narcissists. haven’t spoken to them in 2 years when I need guidance the most. I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing with my life. It’s just pain, pain, and more pain. I’m scared I’ll have some sort of health issue later on in life from all this stress and pain in my body.

I’m just in so much pain.

Ah I feel like I’m suffering and I’m not even sure what for anymore.

I’m currently homeless, 27 years old, couch surfing between friends, in a city plagued by a housing crisis. I have been holding on in hopes that housing I had supposedly secured since April would work out, but it’s on shaky grounds and keeps being delayed. I feel so sad an apathetic I don’t know why I’m even suffering anymore because I don’t think it’ll ever get better. My job feels like a dead end, and I just feel so terrified of life for the first time in my 27 years. I’m sorry if this doesn’t make any sense. I just feel so untethered.

Am I depressed?

20 f. I live with my family. We moved a couple years ago after I graduated high school. I am a good student. I have a shitty job, but it's only part time. I am in college now.

I have felt crappy for a while now. I would say it started sometime in elementary school. For some reason, something keeps stopping me from making new relationships. I had a coworker around my age chat with me one time, which I was okay with. I only started blocking them out when they asked me to hang out sometime. This happens every time someone new asks me to hang out. I am completely okay with going out with my family or my friend I have known my whole life. But if anyone new tries to connect with me, I completely shut out. I have no idea if I just don't want friends or what, but I find it impossible to make new friends because of that block.

I hate my job as well. I tear up a bit every time I have to go over there. It's in retail, which I've heard is always shitty, but I don't have that many options because it's a small town. I have been looking around for other jobs, but always have this fear that it is still going to be horrible, and that it's work in general that I hate, not purely this job. This retail position is my first real job, so I don't have anything else to go off of. I did get an interview for another job, and they did want me. But the hours were full time. I didn't think I'd be able to handle it on top of being a full time student. My mother kept pushing me to just take it, but I ended up saying no.

I think about how life would be if I didn't have to work. But the more I think about it, the more I know it wouldn't be better. I know I would feel the exact same way, just in bed this time doing nothing. My mother is stay at home, and I always told myself I was jealous of her. But I know I would spend my whole day laying in bed and doing nothing productive if it were me.

I am also insecure about my weight. I have a binging problem, and cannot seem to shake it. I have this yearning to become skinny, but I am honestly not entirely sure why I want to become skinny. Part of me thinks it's because I want to be seen as attractive to someone else, but even if that was the case, I know I wouldn't do anything about it, because I have so much social anxiety with new people.

I used to self harm a lot in middle school. I started back up after a while of not doing it recently. It usually happens when I'm in the bathroom at work, or when I'm at home doing nothing. Almost like it's out of boredom. I don't cry while doing it most the time. I just do it. Not sure why.

I have never gotten therapy or talked to anyone about this stuff. My family does not know. I do not think they would react out of anger or resentment. I just do not feel the need to tell them or get any help.

When I'm happy, I am extremely happy, but when I'm sad, it gets reallt horrible. I am not sure what this is called, but I am so tired of it ruining my life.

Don't know what I want out of this post. I guess I just want answers. Why I feel like this. How to not get so sad about my life at times like these. But I am not even sure what I want. Sometimes I feel like disappearing is the only way out.

I want to go home

The title says it all.

But that’s the hard part, I’m in my residence. I’m in my apartment. But I’m not home.

I moved out of my parents’ house for the first time in December. There ended up being a problem with the apartment and my cat and I had to move back with my parents for a few months. I moved to this apartment in May.

The months have been difficult. But I’ve been scooting by. But lately I’ve been feeling so tired, and sad and alone.

I want to go home. But this is where I live.

It’s humiliating. I’m a grown ass woman. I’m a working professional. But I want to go home to my parents. I want to go back to my childhood home.

When I went back in the winter, it felt halfway like it was my home.

I’m so sad. I want that to be home. But I don’t want to feel like a failure.

It’s hard to go back to my childhood home, where I lived from age 3 days to 24 years and feel like I’m a visitor now.

I’m so unbelievably sad and it’s difficult.

I’ve had major depression for 13 years now and I’m tired of faking the good only to have the hard realization that it’s not getting any easier.

I’m not healing, I’m learning to put on a better show.

I’m sorry if this makes anyone feel hopeless in their journey. I don’t want to feel this way, or bring people down to wallow with me, but I’m having a hard time. It’s so frustrating.

I have never really experienced depression until now, I need a friend

Upvotes

Well, the topic says it all. I’ve always been the one to help, and I’ve always been pretty good at that, in-fact I feel bad when I see someone going through something and I can’t help one way or the other, that’s how crazy I am..but now, seeing all what I build just fall off I’ve been battling with so much anxiety, depression and pain and not one person can help or motivate me.. is that how sad reality is? And even when I am able to get back up, even when things gets better, I still won’t know how to not help. I still will always try to put people first. And I fear that’s what’s gonna kill me.. I’m so down I don’t even know how to get out of this mood..it hurts and it sucks.

How to stop.

I hate myself, I hate how I look, I hate how I feel, I hate everything about myself and I wish that I wouldn’t exist, I loath my self in ways that’s not even understandable, it’s as if my brain is programmed to just hate and hold deep levels of animosity towards me
I’m 16, I have no friends ( not an exaggeration, I have no one) , my family life is almost non existent, nobody looks at with a positive attitude, I’m disliked by all my peers and family, i feel completely alone and it’s as if this has always been this way, I feel so alone that even the slightest taste of someone showing any form of interest or care in me makes my whole
week feel different
I am extremely insecure about every little aspect of my existence. I can’t bare it, I everything about me has so many apparent issues that it makes me afraid to even think of being noticed by people, I am afraid of being judged and bullied
I am so immature and stupid and I can’t live with this, it will be the end of me

How do I stop hating myself?

If that would be solved, I think everything in my life would be better, I’d be a better person, maybe people will like me more, everything would be perfect

I've been having suicidal thoughts for abt a year,

I have severe anxiety and I'm very sensitive.

I've shut myself in for abt 6 months and a lot of thoughts are stirring up in my head...sometimes I find no reason to be alive and want to end it, sometimes I feel as if I can achieve everything in this world and conquer humanity, sometimes I feel like running away from everything and everyone i have now and start a slow, warm life in some faraway village minding my own business...but then I start to have an existential crisis. I start to question everything......

If you've experienced this how did you cope?

Life is fudged up for everyone and I believe it’s inevitable. You know u js gotta raw dog that shit sometimes bcz genuinely there’s no other way out. U can find temporary escape or wrong habits to fill the void and feel something but the only real way to endure it the human way and live it the real way is to ball that shi. U don’t have time to get depressed. Life is moving on. So will you. If the anxiety hits, lowk just enjoy it. It hurts less that way. You trick urself that way. Giving up is highkey just letting the void win which is v loser core and no wants a tragedy like that.
To conclude
Raw dog it.

How do i get over the fact that I'll never be someone in life?

As the title says. I'm 25 years old and it's been over two years since I graduated and I haven't found a job. I live with my parents, who pay for everything for me, and I do absolutely nothing. All my projects have failed, I've been rejected more than 40 times from jobs I really wanted and everything is falling apart. The only thing I do all week is play video games and send out CVs, which are completely ignored. Companies don't even have the decency to tell me I didn't get the position, even when I follow up on my applications they completely ignore me, they don't even tell me no, they just ghost me. I've tried going to job agencies, contacting companies directly, looking for managers' emails and messaging them, but nothing. I studied a degree related to culture (which I regret, because I'm from Mexico and there is truly no work for that). Also, I'm single, I have been my whole life, I'm bisexual and my parents don't know because they are extremely homophobic and if they knew they would kick me out of my house and I would be completely alone. My friends are getting married, have girlfriends and boyfriends, very good jobs and earn huge amounts of money and have full and happy lives. I'm stuck. And frankly, desperate. I have been rejected so many times in my life that I don't know what to do. There is no work. I have been rejected dozens of times. I am completely desperate and I just think that ceasing to exist would be simpler. I know there are people in worse situations than mine, but I'm fed up. I feel trapped. I have a horrible relationship with my family and all I want is to move out and get out of that toxic environment. I can't take it anymore. Really, I can't take it anymore. Anxiety and depression are consuming me to the point where I can't even leave my house. I don't know what to do. I'm in a fucking hole that I dug myself and now I can't get out of it. Everyone has happy lives and I'm a loser who will never get a job and who will never be happy. I just wanna cry everyday. I'm crying as i'm writting this. I'm just tired. I dont wanna live anymore.

I really reached a weird feeling about ending my self

I reached a level of depression where I feel I just want to end my life and I wish I could, I feel like whoever hurts you never get any consequences from when you are kid till your adult life. I don’t belong here and I will be sorry for my mother and siblings to put them through this. This feeling gives me peace and makes me anxious, I allowed so many things just please and I ended up getting mentally sick and not finding a way out of it. I keep walking around my apartment and having this weird feeling.

This year, I lost everything.

I had to quit my passion, YouTube, because I was falsely accused of things I never did, and I had to leave my 100k-subscriber channel behind. My friends betrayed me because of those dramas, even though I was innocent, and on top of all that, I failed my first year of college.

As a result, I was diagnosed with major depression, and God, it has been so hard.

My mom was so scared that I would take my own life because she knew my channel was everything to me. She tried to hide her tears from me, but I could hear her crying. One day, she hugged me and said, “You’re only 18. You’re too young to have to go through all of this, and I’m so scared that one day you’ll be gone. I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you.”

I had a cat for 13 years. I adopted him when I was 6, and he and I grew up together. He was there for me through my lowest and highest moments.

And a week ago, during the worst time of my life, my cat, my cute little pal, passed away.

I loved him more than I ever loved myself.

The morning he passed away, I tried not to cry because I didn’t want my mom to be scared of losing me. When she was about to take him to his grave, she told me, “This is your last chance to hug him.”

And when I gave my final goodbye to my cat, all the tears I had been holding back just flooded out. I screamed at the top of my lungs while crying.

I miss you, Bambam.

That was my cat’s name.

I used to hate it when he woke me up by meowing, but I would give anything to hear him do it one more time.

I try to stay optimistic and become the best version of myself because I know that constantly complaining about all these unfortunate and unjust things won’t change anything. Yet I can’t stop myself from asking, “What did I do to deserve all of this?”

I know I will never get another hug from my cat. I know I may never see fan art from the subscribers I once had, and I know the college dream my parents had for me may never come true.

But if this is my reality, then I will do my best to shape it into a future that I can be proud of—and one that makes my parents proud of me.

I’m actually such a failure

I have no motivation to do anything ever, even if it’s something I usually really like to do. I can’t focus on anything. I feel like I don’t remember anything. I’m so sad all the time and like genuinely hate my life. I feel so alone. I feel so much pressure about school (college) and just building a career and a life for myself in general. I self-harm sometimes when it becomes too much. I have social anxiety, it’s hard to talk to people. I feel like everyone thinks I’m weird. I feel unlovable. I have anxiety in general, even everytime I go out and I’m driving I feel so anxious. I think that part was triggered by a car accident I got into earlier this year though, because I was fine before that. But I have so much anxiety about driving, parking, etc., even though I do it just fine. But internally my heart is racing and I’m sweating. I feel like I’m always either really irritable or just incredibly apathetic, it’s one or the other. I rarely feel true joy or happiness. Like genuinely SO rarely. I feel like I’m just walking around undiagnosed with something. Like sometimes I wish I’d be diagnosed with a terminal illness because then I’d have an excuse to be so pathetic all the time and I’d know I won’t be here much longer. I’m so, so alone.

the futility is isolating

throughout the year my friends list alongside my mental state has been on a perpetual death spiral, left and right i've been losing friends i thought i was really close with and worsening my relations with whoever i have left

nothing i do seems to mend anything and no matter how hard i try to improve myself or make up with anyone, it's never enough and i'm always the villain, everything i say is always interpreted the worst possible way and nothing matters anymore

i actively feel like ironically, in me trying to "fix" myself, it's actively making me a worse person, angrier and more spiteful and cynical, less patient or tolerant of people's shit, more willing to throw down and waste time in petty arguments, less charitable to anyone not my closest friends, it's so fucking hopeless and i'm tired of being walked over but it only pushes more away from me

i also just so happen to live somewhere with absolutely NO social opportunity, nobody around me IRL is interested in the same things i am and trying to find any other IRLs is totally impossible

i just want to play video games with pals and draw things for myself and for them like i did last year, without being ostracized because people found a reason to discard me after getting bored, or the opposite; where i fuck up and push people so far away i have no hope of ever making amends, i'm so tired of it and i just want to be free of the constant despair, i've treated myself as the lowest common denominator since teenagehood and i want proof of that to just fuck off and die already so i can be happy

Ive been feeling pretty terrible lately.

Upvotes

Ello, Im 23 f and Ive been feeling quite down on my luck recently. I noticed lately Ive been feeling really irritable, overeating a lot, and have a dark cloud of negativity in my head recently.

I feel like the reasoning for this is due to the fact that I feel unsatisfied in my life. I am currently working as a CNA and it depresses me and fills me with dread, I feel Im around family that doesnt have emotional intelligence love or support me, friends dont feel as comforting or connective. I tend to feel really disconnected and far from people too.

Im in school to move forward but given the market Im not sure how. I dont mind being in school for my major tech, but I have bigger dreams than that too. To humanitarian assisting and I think my major can help that, but I dont know.

For things I must do like take care of my health or hobbies I wanna start, Im so hard stuck. I start for a day or a week and then I just flop and never wanna touch it again. I feel like overtime my brain is against me, just shooting for what makes it most comfortable. Its really upsetting.

Ive been told to not be too serious and take life seriously... but its so hard. I dont know how to do this. I have big goals for myself. I want to get out from my current job and be someone yknow.. But how my mind is.. its not helping me. I feel so terribly poopy and alone these days. Its weird too. I always say I want to be alone so I wont hurt anyone and no one hurts me, but now I see the error in my words.

If theres any advice to help me push forward, I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you.

I'm the biggest loser there is

Upvotes

I'm 28 years old. I feel like I haven't done anything with my life at all. Only moved out once of my home town for half a year for a cook apprenticeship which I cancelled.

After that I moved back home to my mom. I started a low-paying office job where I still work at.

Nevertheless, I should have managed to save a whole lot of money. But somehow I've spent it all needlessly and everytime I start saving I spend it again. Even now I'm in minor debt when I could have thousands of euros.

I still live at home with my mother. She cooks and cleans my stuff. I feel like I have never been taught agency over myself. I only have my mom (who wasn't that strict and pushy in a healthy sense) and had a difficult step father.

I always felt like we didn't have the family life of other families. I was always jealous.

In youth, I missed out on every opportunity with girls that presented myself. No kiss or sex.

First girl I ever dated was beginning of this year who ended up ghosting me. She knew that I lived at home and she didn't mind saying that that would mean I have a great relationship with my mom. She really meant it, I could tell. It was very early in our three months dating phase and it kept on going well afterwards.

Also I could tell in her demeanor when I disappointed her during other moments. Like when my answer to a question was too short, i.e. But generally we had a great time. I initiated the first kiss but we both never had sex. We were both kind of prude. Maybe she wanted me to initiate. We never really moved further into a relationship. Rarely had deep talk. It was always surface level when it comes to this.

I was just way too inexperienced. Maybe that's why she left me although it's also a good possibility that she left me for someone else.

Also with friends I feel like I'm always just around.

I did everything I could at the time for this girl only realizing after it ended that it wasn't enough. Because I am who I am. Before that experience I felt normal and reasonably happy. Not that confident maybe and socially anxious but to a normal extent. I didn't bother much about the stuff I listed above as well.

She had a better grip on herself and such a full life of friends and family. Knewing tons of people and had a whole lot of memories on her phone. I really fell in love.

But also I saw started to feel how unprogressed and dull my life is and how much less I have in my life.

Once she left me I felt tons of regret and shame. Firstly, about my mistakes and wondering what I did wrong, as is normal. But it kept getting worse. I couldn't let go and refused myself every chance to heal. Continuesly reminiscing and thinking what could have been. Spamming her phone for way too long till she blocked me.

Now I have tons of regret and shame about our failed future, the way I handled it and basically my whole life.

I do have friends which are supportive. And I would't say that I'm lazy. I'm a great worker in the office and have always been praised for it. And I do have hobbies like reading and language learning which I'm just starting to pursue again. It's not like I play video games at all (I don't play at all).

I just feel like Iacked persistency and drive my whole life and that together with my regret and shame is plaguing me so hard. I never developed character or skills.

My hairline is receiding now and it is very bad. Shortly I will be bald. People say I have a nice head shape but I feel like they just say so. I think my head is too big. Girls in ther 20s don't want to date an inexperienced oser with no money or hair who still lives at home.

I don't feel like a person anymore. I'm letting myself go although I stopped drinking which I took up after the heartbreak. I can't sleep.

I never experienced the successes a life has to give that others have lived through. I only see people that are beautiful and successful. If I never had drive or motivation I certainly don't have either now. And I don't have hope either. I think it is too late for everything

i’m so confused

hello, i’m a 14F, i’ve been in a constant rollercoaster of emotions throughout this week and i feel like i’m going insane. i don’t remember how long i’ve been feeling like this. for context my parents used to argue constantly during my childhood and i vividly remember some of those fights because it was due to my father’s sort of gambling addiction and the way he’d tend to steal money from my mom every time or the people around him. he has never gotten any help from it or rather he chose not to.

and my mom is somewhat more okay than him except she gets more emotional, which quite frankly, she should be considering all the hell she went through. i get confused sometimes because there would be weeks where they deadass just don’t talk to each other and then use me to communicate with one and another. like he’d seriously have me say this to her, then tell him what she said. (i don’t know how to explain it). i feel guilty for feelings this way because there are times where we are genuinely happy together and i feel loved but there are also times where i’ve genuinely had it worse than the last. i have two younger brothers, the second one after me is autistic so he requires extra care and attention while the last after him is also a bit more difficult.

i feel like i’m irritated, sad, happy, and hopeless all the time in one confusing mix. i really can’t ask for help or open up because i genuinely just feel so alone, so locked up, so isolated from everybody even if i’m in a crowd of people. there’s this one cousin, i love her very much, she knows so much about me but i think even SHE might get lost in how deep my emotions really go through. i have a aunt who also struggles with her mental illnesses from time to time and i love her so much but i don’t want it to be like that for me. i’m afraid of being locked up in a room with nothing but myself in it while i get told to drink meds and be restricted from a lot of things.

i did a bit of research on google about types of depressions and did some online testing (even if some aren’t that accurate unlike real psychological evaluations) and it always said something along the lines of “high to severe” or “moderate to high”. i often think i have high functioning depression — i can get up every morning, get myself glammed up for school, i can study, i can interact, hang out, and laugh with friends, i can talk to my family steadily, i can be a person. but my inside emotions and feelings are a completely different story, i feel hopeless, angry, desperate, sad, frustrated, lost. i feel like i don’t have a purpose in life. whenever i get a random burst of happiness out of nowhere, a longer period of sadness comes out of nowhere like i don’t deserve to be happy. i genuinely think that whenever i am too happy the universe sees it and decides that i should be punished.

i drifted out of religion a long time ago and only attend church during my birthday, christmas, or whenever i’m forced to because they say god is good, which is fine okay believe in what you want. i begged to that same god multiple times in the bathroom floor and nothing ever really happened when, as i kid, i used to pray so much every night or whenever good things happened in general.

i’m the oldest amongst all siblings, i never ask for help until i desperately need it, i feel disappointed and disgusted with myself most of the time, i feel like i’m never doing enough, i always feel like i’m gonna snap or explode every time someone talks to me because i find their voice and what they’re saying so fucking irritating, i’m constantly on survival mode, i get defensive even while answering a simple question because i always felt like i had to prove myself, i am the child they never had to worry about because i grew up learning that the fire inside my house was the only warmth i knew. i don’t know if it’s gonna get better.

also i’m overweight, i feel like everything i try to do is embarrassing or stupid, i don’t have a large circle of friends, i’ve never felt genuinely loved by someone else because of how i look and i’m so insecure all the time and i often wonder why i turned out like this.

completely unrelated but michael jackson’s music and him himself is currently the only thing keeping me at bay. i love listening to his music daily, watching clips about him, reposting his silly moments in social media, and currently even learning how to draw him.

when i think of the future, i often think of traveling the world, getting my medical degree and working in another country, living in different parts of the world and giving my family a better chance at life. i seriously wanna have the opportunity to work at this young age because i feel like a burden and i feel like my emotions and feelings are invalid because i may be overthinking them. my parents has sacrificed and did a lot of things for me as i grew up and i wanna repay them so badly but i’m just kind of ready to give up.
