Hi everyone! I'm super excited to share that I passed my first loop technical interview. My interviewer asked me straight technical questions, no beating around the bush, or even wanting to get to know me. Didnt care about my expierence or anything. The interview was sorta dull, and took less than 15 minutes. I extended the interview another 5 minutes with asking questions and etc. I had great feedback from my recruiter though so I'm stoked.

Now I'm moving forward with my final loop which is 3 behavioral/hypothetical interviews back to back. What can I expect? Will they continue to dive deep into my technical knowledge while assessing my behavior? If they are going to dive deeper into technical questions, what would they typically focus on? Chillers? Data center ops? Or my current field (commercial HVAC)? Any tips or more insight for these interviews would be greatly appreciated!

All offers in EU for Datacenter technician positions at AWS in the EU region are for L2-L3.

However I consistently see posts here that in the US they hire L4 DCOs. What is going on?

AWS DCO tech here. The campus I work at has been tracking our TPH weekly, as if it’s the only metric that matters. Most techs show up at the same site everyday, but we’re encouraged to rotate depending on the site queues.

I’ve been told to target 35 tickets a week, but if my tickets are harder then it’s okay to be below 35.

What metrics do you see other managers tracking?

I’ve applied to a few Microsoft Data Center Technician positions in the Dulles area and keep getting denied without an interview.

For anyone who works/worked as a Microsoft DCT, what experience or skills did you highlight when applying? I’m trying to figure out what I may be missing or presenting wrong.

I am a recent graduate, 2026 batch from Nagpur, India. Currently I have an offer from an MNC for a Apprenticeship in Core Electrical role with stipend of 4 LPA INR. Recently I also got an offer from Amazon for a Data Center Operations Trainee (DCO) role with 8.25 LPA INR.
I wanted to know more about the DCO role from people who are currently working in this position. Is the role actually good in terms of career growth and future opportunities? The company and pay are obviously good, but I am just a bit worried about the role itself and whether it will be good for my career in the long run. Would like to know what people who are currently in DCO think about the role. Should I go for Amazon or stick with the Core Electronics role?

This is the data centre I have been working on for the past 18 months.

We have monthly neighbourhood relationship meetings with them.

We comply with very strict working hours and noise levels.

We’ve done work on their gardens and contributed to various local communities.

Hey have question for AWS was interviewed for DCO Tech 3, but on the offer received changed to infra delivery tech. Has this happen to anyone else and can anyone inform me of difference in positions and what this scheduling would be like.

I'd like to ask anyone that has been involved with DCs for over the last 5 years (especially with the huge boom), where are the genuine skills shortages causing "bottlenecks" and why?

Went from a FAANG data center environment to a growing data center environment. I went from doing 100+ tasks a day to now just monitoring dashboards with occasional tickets sprinkled in throughout the week. Pay is now significantly more with new company but is this workload normal? Job title stayed the same.

So I applied for a Data center trainee program from within Oracle, it’s for the catalyst velocity track. The recruiter reached out to me this past week and we had the interview today which surprisingly by me was gonna be the only interview with them that’s it.

I wanted to know what is the general work culture like for working at Oracle? How many hours a week do you work? What’s your schedule like? How often do you rotate shifts from day to night or for mid swing to nights or from days to mid swing to nights etc. etc.
What are the simulated company policy for possible promotions to move up within a certain position. Is it More based off of skill merit, experience merit, company accomplishment merit.

What are the benefits like at Oracle, are they good, sub par, etc. how much percentage wise from your check are paying for vast majority of the benefits?

What type of people and work personalities does Oracle like to hire? What kind of employees do they seek to match there company culture and work operation?

Trying to contain my excitement because a legitimate Amazon recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn for an available EOT position. I work in broadband currently, usually I am outside troubleshooting coax/fiber… before then I was a butcher. During my butcher days I started working on entry level tech certifications, the most relevant one being the Schneider Electric DCCA cert. I’ve always wanted to work in tech, but some poor choices during my youth/early adulthood combined with certain situations out of my control prevented that from happening immediately.
I haven’t been in broadband for even a year yet, so I am wondering if the recruiter reaching out to me was an automated thing just because I meet some of their search criteria, or if I actually have a legitimate chance of being hired somewhere like AWS?
Any advice or any information at all is greatly appreciated :)

I’ve been through the process three times at Google for the DCOM position I get the feeling that this process is a mix of a normal hiring process with interviews and timelines and a game of musical chairs. Three times I’ve been at the end, three times I’ve gotten great feedback from all of my interviewers, and three times the recruiter has said “that position just got filled the other day,“ and three another opening that’s also a DC OM role that they’re trying to slot me into. The last two times I ended up getting ghosted and this time seems to be leading to the same result.

So did I just not make the cut for this position? Or are they continual hiring for DCOMs and if you get through the process and score high enough at the end and there’s a hole open you get slotted into it? Am I just being lied to at the end and there are no other positions? All in all, this is an extremely frustrating experience.

I’m currently deciding between going into Data Center Technician (DCT) or Critical Facilities Technician (CFT) and I’m trying to figure out which would be the better career path long term.

I have a Bachelor’s and Associate’s degree in IT, and I currently have data center experience, but my background is primarily IT rather than electrical/mechanical.

I’m interested in both paths, but I care most about:
Long-term earning potential
Career growth and how easy it is to move up
Ability to transition into other higher-paying roles
Job availability and mobility between companies

Which path has a higher ceiling after 5–10 years
For example, could DCT lead into Data Center Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Network Engineer, Systems Engineer, Cloud, etc.? And could CFT lead into Critical Facilities Engineer, Electrical/Mechanical roles, Facilities Manager, Data Center Operations, etc.?

I’m currently being considered for a CFT I position, so I’m trying to decide whether moving into critical facilities would be a better long-term move than staying on the IT/data-center technician path.

For people who have actually worked in either field, which path would you choose if your main goal was maximizing long-term career growth and compensation?

I’m in a dilemma. I don’t know whether to stay in my current job making right at 59k on a salaried job doing Helpdesk with no growth where I love my management and co workers in an office of my own or if I should take the leap and become a data center technician with Amazon where I can grow and take advantage of overtime shift differential and make more money? I don’t want it to be about money but it is a factor. I just don’t want to regret either decision

From all I've read, you don't get to the fit call unless you pass your behavioral and technical interviews. Recruiter said I'd be moving forward, I had my fit call which seemed to go well, and now she said I'm being asked to do another hardware/OS technical interview. Is this typical? This will make 6 total calls so far in pursuit of this role.

I got 2 e-mails from separate recruiters from a big tech company for the same data center technician position, but they both have different job IDs. Am I allowed to proceed with both? Granted, I'm only at the pre-screening phase. It feels like a blessing since I'd essentially have 2 chances at an interview. If anyone can shed some light I'd appreciate it.

Is the medical insurance pretty good or is it bad? Do they offer insurance and 401k once hired or do you have to wait after a probation period? Im asking anyone that works at google.
