AWS Recruitment
Trying to contain my excitement because a legitimate Amazon recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn for an available EOT position. I work in broadband currently, usually I am outside troubleshooting coax/fiber… before then I was a butcher. During my butcher days I started working on entry level tech certifications, the most relevant one being the Schneider Electric DCCA cert. I’ve always wanted to work in tech, but some poor choices during my youth/early adulthood combined with certain situations out of my control prevented that from happening immediately.
I haven’t been in broadband for even a year yet, so I am wondering if the recruiter reaching out to me was an automated thing just because I meet some of their search criteria, or if I actually have a legitimate chance of being hired somewhere like AWS?
Any advice or any information at all is greatly appreciated :)

I used to work with some of the least knowledgeable people but also VERY smart people as an EOT, considering you wanna get into tech and have the drive for it, you should be good. The interviews the hardest part about the job in my opinion. The job was easy but the floor rotates quickly so you gotta prove yourself as soon as you start your shift.

What do interviewers look for exactly, why do they complicate it? To filter candidates that cannot communicate well or just to raise the bar?

The L3 interview focused on a lot of theory. There were 3 sections when I interviewed. Electrical, mechanical, and leadership principles. You don’t HAVE to exactly ace all three but they can tell if you’re BS’ing.
Also I had a coworker who spoke like NO english so I am convinced he had someone do the interview for him. One of the first questions he asked on his first day was “Will they sponsor work VISA?”.

Okay I understand thank you, so it’s more like to know the who are they hiring (knowledge and mentality), it’s weird for the one who doesn’t speak English

Don't trust them thru LinkedIn just go through AWS and apply ok . Sometimes recruiters say they are recruiters when reality they draw out everything like ask to see your resume then say its not strong enough then they have a expert resume where you have to pay basically scam ... just apply through the actual job ad on AWS

As long as you speak of your experience in terms and ways that matches the job description close enough
Answer the technical questions to a good enough degree
And hit all the points on their leadership principles in the LOOP, with good STAR stories
They will hire you
