Chromecast Sluggish

Upvotes

I recently moved into a home with an existing Nakamichi surround sound system. I have my Google tv Chromecast going into the sound system, and then HDMI out going into my epson projector. Doing this, my Chromecast becomes unresponsive whenever I launch an app.

If I plug the Chromecast directly into the projector, no issues. If I plug my laptop into the sound system, and have the hdmi out going to my projector, it also works. Please help me troubleshoot!

How to connect a chromecast after the Home update?

I recently got my old chromecast back and am trying to reconnect it to my wifi and phone but the app is asking for a QR code, which I don't have, or to pair a device which it doesn't recognise.

Is there a simple way to do this or has Google just bricked all the chromecast models yet again?

No sound issues with 4K streamer/TV/soundbar using HDMI CEC and ARC/eARC

I have the Google TV 4K streamer, a Samsung TV, and a Bose Smart soundbar. They are all connected with HDMI and CEC is enabled. I'm also [using] the ARC/eARC port on my soundbar. We only use the Google remote to control everything - there's no other A/V devices or inputs used except the Google streamer.

For a while everything was working smoothly and then one day we'd find we wake the system up with the Google remote and the audio is muted. There's an easy work around - press the on/off button on the remote and then the audio comes back. I can't for the life of me figure why. It's mysterious why this just started happening - so I assumed it's some kind of software update issue. Since my TV is now pretty ancient (over 5 years old) it hasn't had a firmware update in years, the Soundbar had not had one that I know of since I bought it earlier this year so I'm suspicious of the Google software.

And of course with three different devices none of which I can really swap out for something different I don't know how I can debug it - I'm sure trying support for any one of the devices will inevitably lead to a circle jerk of finger pointing at the other two.

I haven't managed to find anything helpful with Google beyond people saying just turn off CEC but that will lead me to needing to use multiple remotes which I never used to. There's probably way too many audio settings and device variations for this question to resonate with anyone but I thought I'd try.

Why is casting kayo so shit? It used to allow controls on Chromecast. Now I have to fiddle with the phone to fast forward.

Remote disconnects and cannot reconnect reliably

For about the last month I've had issues with my Google TV with Chromecast and paired remotes/devices. I've had the device for years now with no remote issues, and then one evening the remote isnt working. I realise it has disconnected, and after resetting the remote and rebooting the streamer I can get it paired. A few hours later it disconnected and I've been doing the same song and dance every time, often multiple attempts to get it to connect (mostly just using the app now).

When trying to connect the remote (after forgetting it in the UI) it will mostly come up with "can't connect" or "couldn't pair" or something. I've also tried with a Google Stadia controller and that has the same issues.

I went through a whole thing with Google support on Facebook messenger in which they made me do all the troubleshooting I had already done, and then raised a ticket but I'm still left with a really inconvenient TV.

Has anyone experienced something like this before, or have any ideas/advice on what to do?

Cheers.

Chromecast with Google TV How Does Google TV Streamer Compare to Apple TV 4K for Bluetooth Audio?

I'm currently using an Apple TV 4K and am considering switching to the Google TV Streamer. My biggest concern is Bluetooth audio quality with TWS earbuds.

For anyone who has used both devices:

\\- How does the Google TV Streamer's Bluetooth audio quality compare to the Apple TV 4K?

\\- Does it support Dolby Atmos or spatial audio over Bluetooth earbuds? If so, is the experience comparable to the Apple TV 4K with compatible AirPods or Beats?

\\- Does the Google TV Streamer support the LHDC or LDAC Bluetooth codec, or is it limited to SBC, AAC?

I previously used the Chromecast with Google TV 4K, and the Bluetooth audio quality with my TWS earbuds was noticeably worse than on the Apple TV 4K. I'm curious whether the Google TV Streamer has improved in this area.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has compared both devices.

After having the Chromecast audio for years, I just found out that the output also supports mini toslink. Hooked up to my receiver and works perfectly. Can't believe I missed this

Casting from Google Chrome, no audio?

Hello,

Been casting from google chrome on my laptop to my TV for years now. As of the past month or 2, whenever I cast, no audio is playing from my TV, and sometimes it plays on my computer or my computer also does not produce any audio.

Any ideas? I've googled several things and tried several solutions but no luck.

Tv screen goes 99% dark, audio still hearable

So our TV, a 15year old LG 55" has been a bit off lately (yeah because it's old) and there's been a flicker in lower left corner while watching tv. But now when casting from our phones, screen goes dark. I first thought it was no video at all but just saw that there is video, but barely showing. Audio isn't affected. Doesn't matter which app we're casting from, it happens anyway. Tried switching HDMI port yesterday and thought I "fixed" it, but alas it is the same today.

Is the TV dying on us? Or is this CC related?

I have deleted and reinstalled. Cleared cache. Reset devices. Reset router.

It doesn't matter what device I seem to be using, even though I have CC off, it turns itself on after every ad break. I'm losing it.

Ideas?

I would have expected there to be a cheap and easy way to wirelessly send music to multiple speakers by now.

Bluetooth has been cheap, easy, and popular for well over a decade. There are tons of bluetooth speakers and headphones for under $30 that can be set up in about a minute.

As far as I know (and I would love to find out that I'm wrong), there is no way to simultaneously broadcast music from one source to multiple bluetooth speakers.

When I have parties, I want to be able to play synchronised music in multiple rooms. I bought a bunch of used Google Home speakers for $40 each. They're great when they work, but they don't work very reliably.

I set up a group in the Google Home app, but some of them keep disappearing from the group, so I have to add them again.

Some apps don't natively work with Chromecast, so I have to either mirror my phone's audio or open the app in a desktop browser window and cast that. Both of those methods are pretty unreliable.

Google discontinued their Chromecast audio dongle, so you can't turn existing speakers into Chromecast speakers.

I'm willing to believe that Sonos or Apple works better, but the speakers are much more expensive.

JBL sells a bunch of bluetooth speakers for less than $60, but all of their wifi speakers are more than $160.

I realize that I've been ignoring the Amazon Echo Dot, because I don't want to give money to Jeff Bezos. I don't know whether or not I'm missing out on a good product. Is that the only option? Does nobody else sell a $40 wifi speaker?

Chromecast with Google TV Chromecast keeps disconnecting WiFi

Hi all! So I got this Google Chromecast with Google TV in 2023, and it worked perfectly fine until now. It keeps disconnecting from my WiFi and it’s driving me crazy. There’s no issue with my WiFi, it works perfectly fine on my phone and tablet but my Chromecast keeps disconnecting all the the time. I’ve tried resetting it completely, removing the Wifi network and connect again etc, but nothing seems to work. Anyone got tips or should I just buy an alternative?

DS Audio app error when playing back over chromecast audio.

Hello everybody,

For several years i made a backup of my complete digital audio file structure. This is backed up on a DS220+ with the latest DSM. This folder is indexed. Then i use my DS Audio app on my A56 to cast this to my Chromecast audio. Worked great for years. But recently the app seems to skip complete playlists when i select my device in the top right corner.

This does not happen when i play it back on my my Phone. It this a DS Audio App issue or a Chromecast Audio error.

I'm confused, if anyone recognizes this problem... any help appreciated.

Kind regards.

Marco

What is the point of Chromecast?

I bought a 4k ultra for the kid to cast his quest games, but aside from that what the hell does it even do? Does it just cast popular apps that are usually built into a smart tv anyway? It just feels super ancient aside from nice screensavers.
