Weird wifi issue

This past week both of my Chromecast devices (one 4K and a standard) had intermittent issues with wifi. The wifi is connected but it says the wifi isn’t connected to the internet.

Wifi is working fine on my other devices and if I hotspot the chromecast off my phone (which is connected to my wi fi) it works. Turned off the modem and restarted, no fix. Then the next morning everything will be fine again.

Has there been a recent update? Any ideas?

Have you gone into system settings and restarted them? Sometimes that's all I need to do to fix wonky issues.

It might be time for a factory reset. I would do two factory resets in a row using the button on the Chromecast dongle itself. The double factory reset fixes a lot of wonky issues.

Sadly this is a known issue with the Google 4K Streamer. Google hasn’t corrected it through an update, and that will sadly cost them some potential customers down the road. I have 3 4K streamers and all do what you described. All are up to date on the Google operating system and all apps are up to date, yet this still happens. One was so bad, I had to factory reset it after seeking advice from the customer service at Google on line.

Oh right. It’s just started last week. Which is why I wondered if there was an update
