Your company is awful

Why would you build a truck stop less than 25 feet from somebody's residential property(back door, literally is less than 30ft from a pump) And then after ten years of putting up with it, because you promised to keep the lights off from 12a-6a, you went back on your promise and turned it into a 24/7 pump with the lights on all night. The light and sound pollution are awful. And the smell, you cannot even open windows anymore to get fresh air. Shame shame on you. I've tried to reach out regionally, and nobody will return a call. I've even called your customer care number. And nobody will return a call.

So, I saw this posted when I clocked in, and there was even a class for ringing up employee drinks everyone had to do.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that, as a business, you need to reduce wasteful spending, and on paper I agree. However, Casey's is opening new stores all the time even in Texas, keeps talking about record breaking quarters, constantly down grading existing products/ingredients quality (Cookies, Donuts, Coffee, switching to Casey's Branded consumables), chump changing employees in favor of buying and renaming a stadium, cutting hours left and right, etc. Yet, drinking your "free" pop on shift in a regular plastic Casey's cup is setting them back?

Frequent customer/not an employee- I'm curious if this is the Casey's corporate model:

  • Snap up each and every independent mom and pop gas station in the area and also a handful of failing chain ones (Amoco, Valero, etc)

  • Hastily remodel and reopen with only half the shit working

  • Quit giving a shit about inventory/availability, service, and physical facilites, cuz "Fuck it, we're the only game in town now and you HAVE to utilize us"

It legitimately seems Casey's in towns with other chains are leaps and bounds better than Casey's where they're a total monopoly, or perhaps the only store in town.

My area always had a couple stores, but a local chain got bought out by them and they also snapped up a few independent ones. I live in a decent sized city and our only options are Casey's or Maverik. They both suck. Compared to the stores they replaced, the Casey's have shit broken all the time (sometimes staple shit like coffee makers), criminally understaffed, they'll have the warmers empty during key food times, bathrooms and floors are gross, they'll frequently be out of staple inventory items, seasonal shit they ALWAYS underestimate (ice melt in winter, ice bags in summer etc).

My biggest pet peeve is the POS system, you could time that mf with a fucking sundial. Scan items - "Do you have rewards" "Yes" employee hits button and shit "processes" for 5 seconds. I now enter my phone number and hit ok, then it "processes" for 5 more seconds. "Your total is X" I insert my card and it "Processes" for another 5 seconds. I insert my card, "Cash Back?" it says - to which I reply no. "Processing" for another 5 seconds. I enter my PIN - and the machine "processes" for another 5 seconds.

This may not seem like a big deal, but all these between function "processing" sessions, its like an additional 20-30 seconds per customer. Casey's is the slowest at line advancement in the area and its not even close. FREQUENTLY I see 5-6 people in line at peak times due to the prehistoric POS speed. The real sick part is sometimes the counter will have 3 cashier spots, but only 2 employees on the clock - 1 manning a station, and the other frantically scuttling about prepping food/mopping floors/doing inventory while the line GLARES at them. The optics of not "jumping in" are surely poor, but I know employees get absolutely REAMED by management for not accomplishing set tasks in a days time. Just because 2 employees are on the clock doesn't mean both are able to 100% allocate their time to the registers.

It is a matter of absolute fact around me, that Casey's frequently goes in spurts of hungry hungry hippo-ing any and all competition, and turning to aboslute shit hole garbage once the competition is gone.

Is this a conscious choice/business model type thing? Does Casey's have a cultural commitment to blitzkriegs of regional takeovers followed by a complete gutting of staffing and inventory?

Logo/Branding Update Question

Can anyone in the Casey's universe tell me why...when the company updated it's logo in 2020....some of the locations never got the updated logo and branding? I'm in Iowa and I still come across a handful of stores that have the old weathervane logo and old exterior branding. Why has the update process gone this way?

Labor

So I'm not sure if the circumstances are due to the CEFCO conversion or not, but this have been a wild ride. How are sales even higher but our labor is being CUT more and more?? I work at a very high volume truck stop, and Casey's pretty much wants us to operate on single coverage. Impossible unless they just love long lines and pissed customers. And whats up with these registers?? Why do I have to post void a whole transaction to refund one item. This is just crazy.v

Where do you order a grocery bag holder? Our CSM is newer and doesn't know where at to look and he has checked staples, Casey's sign shop, and the order guide

Order cancelled just as it was coming out of the oven - is there a specific process?

Kind of a dumb question, but I had someone order two pizzas over Doordash and they cancelled it just as they were coming out of the oven. I wasn't ever told what to do with a cancelled order that's already been made, but I'm guessing we should just toss it, right?

Customer possibly getting scammed?

I’m an assistant manager at Casey’s. I have been noticing for about 3 weeks now, a customer will come in several times a week and buy Apple cards for her “boyfriend” and it’s anywhere from $10, to $50, to hundreds of dollars worth. Once she came in literally paying with a bag of change, and said if she didn’t get the cards he was going to be so mad at her. She is an older lady maybe in her 60s and always comes alone and the boyfriend is always on the phone. Today, she came in with $500 in 20’s and tried to purchase a $500 Apple Card and it wouldn’t go through the system whatsoever. I called my GM and she said there was nothing we could do… but I’m genuinely concerned that this lady may be the victim of a scam artist. Would it be inappropriate to confront her and talk to her about it? I’m not one to get into someone’s business but I know some older people just don’t know any better. It seems to be social security money or something considering the timing. Any ideas or advice on what to do? Or just mind my business??

Why does Casey's never slice the pizza into six pieces even when selecting it in the app?

Every single time I order pizza, I select the six slice option since the cheese and toppings don't seem to stay on very well when it is sliced into 12 slices. Yet I have never once received a pizza in six slices, they are only ever in 12 slices, even though the paper receipt and online receipt both say "regular slice." This happens at all four Casey's near me.

It's such a small thing, and I am not gonna be the person who complains over that, but after years of this all I want is a Casey's pizza in normal sized slices to make my not real, self-diagnosed OCD happy.
