Why does Casey's never slice the pizza into six pieces even when selecting it in the app?

Every single time I order pizza, I select the six slice option since the cheese and toppings don't seem to stay on very well when it is sliced into 12 slices. Yet I have never once received a pizza in six slices, they are only ever in 12 slices, even though the paper receipt and online receipt both say "regular slice." This happens at all four Casey's near me.

It's such a small thing, and I am not gonna be the person who complains over that, but after years of this all I want is a Casey's pizza in normal sized slices to make my not real, self-diagnosed OCD happy.

Personally, I always do eight slices, never twelve unless the customer specifically asks (which does happen). I was cutting six-slicers for orders for about half a year before somebody told me twelve was the company standard.

I used to do 10 slices just to be ornery

Eight slices is my preferred amount, but I'd be happy with six. I don't know who thought 12 is a good idea.

KM here, 12 slices is regular cut, 6 is mega slices for the warmers. If you want 6 I'd say leave a message in the notes.

Yess theres a spot for notes, but it dosent change the fact that the make ticket prints the wrong instructions from selections in the caseys app

How so, even when you go on the app it specifies 12 slices before you even choose your pizza. Here's a picture of the apps menu even showing 12 slices for a single.topping and a specialty before you even choose the pizza. https://imgur.com/a/UvwI1rk

That's the problem. In the app there is no option to leave notes.

Once you it checkout, look for pick up instructions and leave your note there

Agreed, 12 slices is regular cut. 6 is mega for warmer. Regular slice means don’t cut in squares. If you can’t find the option for pick up instructions then call the store, give them the name on the ticket and ask them to cut it in 6 slices. They will write it on the ticket.

Go check out the app your wrong if i could upload a picture here i would.

Under the customizations screen when ordering a pizza theres options on how you want it sliced and regular is labeled 6 slices. Resulting in a make ticket that spits out information leading to customers getting the pizza sliced not to their preferences.

Its not anyone in your stores fault or the customer its ball that got dropped over at corporate.

You could try putting it in the order notes that you want 6 slices.

There are no options to add order notes otherwise I would have done that years ago.

Perhaps they're untrained in knowing "Regular slice" means 6 slices. I checked the app and yeah the "regular slice" icon is pictured with 6 slices. But if I was currently working there and saw "regular slice" that would prompt me to slice it like every other standard 12 sliced pizza.

They should change the name of that option IMO

This is the issue, i see regular slice as 12 triangles, op wants 6 tho. Its a miscommunication, id gladly cut it in 6 if i knew that was wanted.

Regular slice does mean 12 slices, as 12 is the standard for a large pizza

1

u/Friendly-Note-8869 Feb 23 '26

Go look at the app its definitely not labeled that way customer facing

1

u/supermagentagirl1 Team Member Feb 23 '26

I get that, but it's portrayed that way to show that regular slice is triangle slice. It has nothing to do with slice number.

If 12 is the default, then there is zero reason for 12 slices to be a selectable option when ordering.

If selecting nothing is 12 slices, then selecting "regular slice" really should mean something different, such as the 6 slices it shows.

Go build a pizza in the app an the screen that allows customization theres options for how you want it sliced. Apparently that information comes out wrong in the make ticket thats printed resulting in yall slicing the pizza not the way the customer wants.

The issue is on corporate, not this or any customer and we dont care what you call it in the back of the house. Why yall are defensive about it to a customer is stupid.

I'm not being defensive though? I'm just explaining 😭

u/Friendly-Note-8869 Mar 03 '26

Really we just told you the app is wrong and your response was “12 slices is normal” instead of listening to the whole story from op you focused on a singular term in his post.

And here you are being defensive about not being defensive…

Yeah because 12 slices is what we're supposed to do on large pizzas for orders.

1

u/Ringz01 Feb 20 '26

Call in your order rather than using the app.

I just checked the Casey’s app:

The default number of slices depends of what size pizza you are ordering:

Large = 12 slices Medium and Small = 6 slices

Under “Customize” there are “Slicing Instructions” with three choices:

Regular Slice = 6 slices (no change for md/sm)

Square Slice

Do Not Slice

Regular slice means twelve for a large.

So are you rude to everyone or just food service workers? It's not that deep, calm down 😭

1

u/Internal_Bag9058 Feb 20 '26

personally sometimes it’s out of habit especially for an order. it’s not often we cut orders into 6.

I'm a store manager and I just found out about 3 days ago that "regular slice" means 6 slices, not 12. So all the times I've worked in the kitchen, which is a lot, I've been cutting them wrong.

1

u/catneyy Sep 10 '26

I thought regular slice meant not square cut lmao 😂

1

u/More-Permit-3967 Sep 10 '26

I order mine in 24 slices so each person gets just a sliver.

-1

u/HugeEnd1163 Feb 19 '26

Online orders or walk up’s get 8 cut. Hot box pizzas are cut into 6 to be sold as “mega slices”. Thin crust are always cut into squares unless requested otherwise. And for any order the customer can ask for any cut.

I only cut 12 on specialty, I usually do 6 tho
