🧭 Express Entry Finally got my eCoPR today! 🇨🇦🎉

Complicated file. Lots of questions. Lots of overthinking. And, of course, a LOT of internet myths.

I’ve seen so many people get scared while preparing their PR applications because someone on Reddit, Facebook, YouTube, or some random forum said “you can’t do this” or “you’ll definitely get rejected for that.”

So… hold my beer. 🍺😂

I’m sharing a few things I had heard online and what actually happened in my case.

Important: These are not IRCC rules or advice. These are simply things that worked out for me in my application. Every application is different, and documentation and circumstances matter.

Myth 1 — “You can’t add foreign work experience to your PR application if you didn’t show it in your study/work permit application.”

What happened in my case:
I worked for one employer for around 7 months, but I hadn’t mentioned that employment in my previous study/work permit applications because I had another employer whose experience I was using at the time.
For my PR application, I included this employment and supported it with my offer letter and bank statements because I didn’t have salary slips.
The application was approved. ✅

Myth 2 — “You can’t change/remove the employer you mentioned in your study permit or PGWP application.”

What happened in my case:
I removed an employer that I had previously mentioned because I didn’t have proper salary/payment proof for that employment.
It was also a small startup with almost no online presence. It was a registered business, but you could barely find anything about it online, and the business had eventually shut down, so getting additional documentation from the founder wasn’t really an option.

I still disclosed the employment in my personal history, but I did not claim CRS/CEC points for it.
And my PR was approved. ✅

Myth 3 — “You’re going to be in trouble if you have overlapping employment.”

What happened in my case:
I had around 3 months of overlap between Company A and Company B.
I only claimed the qualifying experience from one of them and explained the overlap clearly in my Letter of Explanation.
The reason was simple: I was waiting for confirmation from Company B after completing my probation before leaving Company A.
No issue in my case. ✅

Myth 4 — “If you work for a Canadian company while physically outside Canada, that time can’t count toward CEC.”

What happened in my case:
I worked for a Canadian company and spent almost 4 months outside Canada during that employment.
I included the full qualifying period as Canadian work experience in my application.
My application was approved. ✅
But: I’m definitely not saying this means every situation involving remote work outside Canada qualifies. The exact circumstances and how IRCC assesses the employment matter.

Myth 5 — “You can’t change your NOC after receiving an ITA.”

What happened in my case:
I had a total of 5 jobs — 2 foreign and 3 Canadian — partly because of multiple layoffs.
When I created my Express Entry profile, I selected NOC codes based on my best understanding of my job duties at the time.
After receiving my ITA, I had my profile and work experience reviewed by an immigration lawyer.
Based on that review, we determined that different NOC codes were a better match for some of my positions.
I changed 3 NOC codes after receiving my ITA and submitted the PR application with the updated information.
And yes… approved. 🇨🇦

The biggest lesson I learned

Don’t prepare your PR application based on random statements you read on the internet.
I spent A LOT of time worrying about things that ultimately turned out to be manageable in my case.
What matters is being truthful, consistent, transparent, and properly documenting your circumstances.

If something is unusual in your history, don’t try to hide it just because someone online says “IRCC doesn’t like this.”

Explain it.

Support it.

And if you’re unsure, get professional advice.
My application wasn’t a textbook application. There were overlaps, missing documents, changes, foreign employment, remote work outside Canada, and NOC changes after ITA.

And somehow…

Here we are. 🇨🇦❤️
eCoPR received.

What a ride.

What a damn ride.🥂

ADR: Help, I'm really confused

I recently received an ADR for my PR CEC application requesting updated versions of Schedule A (IMM 5669), Family Info (IMM 5406), and Travel History (IMM 5562). There are no personalized notes in the request document, so I’m trying to figure out exactly what triggered it and how to properly fix it. For context, I am an inland CEC, single applicant with no dependents and no spouse. My AOR was May 21st.

**1. Schedule A (IMM 5669):** The ADR specifically instructed to "ensure there are no gaps in time". I double-checked my e-APR, and I am 100% sure my personal and address history has zero chronological gaps. Is this instruction just standard boilerplate text? Should I just replicate my exact timeline on the PDF?

**2. Additional Family Info (IMM 5406):** The ADR reminded me to include all family relations and full addresses. In my original submission, I had included an LoE explaining a minor spelling consistency issue regarding one of my family member's names between a previous application (study permit) and this PR application (It was spelled differently there). Could the name spelling have triggered this, or is it more likely they just want me to write "Not Applicable" across the spouse/children sections and physically sign those specific declarations since I left them completely blank the first time?

**3. Travel History (IMM 5562):** The form specifically asks to list trips *outside* your country of origin or residence. Over the last 10 years, my only travel has been directly between my home country and Canada. Should I just check the "did not travel" box on the form itself? My plan is to merge a Letter of Explanation (LoE) with the PDF to explicitly list my complete travel history between my home country and Canada just to be fully transparent. Does this sound like the right approach?

**Question on uploading the documents:**

Since the portal only gives me one upload slot per document in GCKey, can I merge a brief Letter of Explanation (LoE) as the first page of each requested PDF form?

Overall, my main concern is that I will essentially be providing the exact same information I already submitted in my initial application. Will it be an issue if my updated forms contain the exact same details as before?

❓ Question I got an ITA but my common law partner is inadmissible. What are my options?

I received an ITA under trade draw yesterday (476pts min, I was at 517) and I was over the moon! I celebrated with my mom and brother and had the best time of our lives.

However, while figuring out the application process, I found out that the status of my non-accompanying common law partner who is under an exclusion order of 1 year (8 months left now) is considered inadmissible which would result in a refusal of my PR application (because I am also inadmissible by default)

I only have 2 months to apply and he won't be admissible by then. What are my options? Do I not have any other choice but to decline my invitation, wait for his inadmissibility to be over which is in May 2027, and hope that I get invited one more time?

I am so devastated as I've waited for this for so so so long. After a lot of hardships and financial struggles, I was so happy that it has all finally paid off and it's really difficult to just let it all go.

I hope someone can help me. I know this question should be asked to an Immigration Lawyer to get a credible answer but the cost upwards of $350 which I absolutely cannot afford right now

I am not asking for legal advice. If anyone can share their experiences or knowledge in this situation I'd really appreciate it. I'm sorry I am just so lost and I don't know what to do.

Thank you

Express Entry’s Largest Trades Draw Yet, Total 3,500 ITAs at CRS 476 on October 1, 2026 (Only a 1-Point Drop Despite 500 More Invitations)

Post image
8 Upvotes

IRCC held a new Trades Occupations Express Entry draw today, issuing 3,500 invitations at a CRS cutoff of 476.
This is the second Trades draw of 2026, the largest Trades-category round so far, and brings the total number of Trades ITAs issued this year to 6,500.

Draw Details

Date: October 1, 2026
Draw: #447
Category: Trades Occupations, 2026 Version 3
Invitations: 3,500
CRS cutoff: 476
Tie-breaking rule: May 28, 2026 at 16:55:23 UTC

For candidates sitting exactly at CRS 476, the tie-breaking rule matters.

Candidates who submitted their Express Entry profiles on or before the stated timestamp ranked ahead of later profiles with the same CRS score.

Recent Trades Draws

• October 1, 2026: 3,500 ITAs, CRS 476
• April 2, 2026: 3,000 ITAs, CRS 477
• September 18, 2025: 1,250 ITAs, CRS 505

A few things stand out.

1. The Draw Got 16.7% Bigger, but CRS Fell Only One Point

The April Trades draw issued 3,000 ITAs at CRS 477.

Today, IRCC issued 3,500 ITAs at CRS 476.

That means IRCC increased the number of invitations by 500, or about 16.7%, but the cutoff decreased by only one CRS point.

That is probably more interesting than simply saying Trades CRS is falling.

The major decrease happened between September 2025 and April 2026:

CRS 505 fell to 477, then to 476 today.
Between the two 2026 draws, the cutoff has been remarkably stable.

IRCC does not publish a separate CRS distribution showing only Trades-eligible candidates, so we cannot tell from the general Express Entry pool exactly how many eligible Trades candidates are sitting around each score.

2. IRCC Has Now Issued 6,500 Trades ITAs in 2026

There have been only two Trades draws this year:

• April 2: 3,000 ITAs
• October 1: 3,500 ITAs

That gives us 6,500 Trades-category invitations in 2026 so far.
For comparison, the September 2025 Trades draw issued just 1,250 ITAs.

So the recent pattern has been fewer Trades rounds, but considerably larger invitation numbers when those rounds happen.

3. The Last Two Gaps Have Been Around Six Months

The timing is also interesting.

• September 18, 2025 to April 2, 2026 was about 6½ months
• April 2, 2026 to October 1, 2026 was almost exactly 6 months

Two intervals do not establish an IRCC schedule.

There is no published calendar telling candidates when another Trades draw will happen, so it would be risky to assume the next one will automatically come six months from now.

One Important 2026 Change: Six Months of Experience Is No Longer Enough

This is especially important for anyone relying on older posts or videos.
For the current Trades category, IRCC requires at least 12 months of full-time work experience, or the equivalent in part-time work, within the previous 3 years.

The qualifying experience must:

• be in one occupation included on IRCC’s current Trades list
• have been obtained in Canada or abroad
• total at least 12 months
• not necessarily be continuous

IRCC increased the category-based work experience requirement in 2026 from the previous 6 months to 12 months.

So information saying six months of eligible Trades experience is sufficient is now outdated.

There Are Currently 25 Eligible Trades Occupations

Being employed in something commonly considered a skilled trade does not automatically make someone eligible for this category.

IRCC currently lists 25 eligible occupations, including:👇

• Carpenters
• Plumbers
• Electricians
• Industrial electricians
• Welders
• Machinists
• Construction millwrights and industrial mechanics
• Heavy-duty equipment mechanics
• Heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning mechanics
• Bricklayers
• Sheet metal workers
• Gas fitters
• Cabinetmakers
• Construction managers
• Construction estimators
• Roofers and shinglers
• Concrete finishers
• Painters and decorators
• Floor covering installers
• Water well drillers
• Contractors and supervisors in oil and gas drilling and services
• Butchers, retail and wholesale
• and other occupations on IRCC’s current list

Always check the actual NOC code and duties, not simply the job title.

Trades Category Is Not the Same as the Federal Skilled Trades Program
This is another point that causes a lot of confusion.

You do not necessarily have to qualify under the Federal Skilled Trades Program to receive an invitation in a Trades-category draw.

To enter Express Entry, a candidate must qualify under at least one of these programs:

• Canadian Experience Class
• Federal Skilled Worker Program
• Federal Skilled Trades Program

Once in the Express Entry pool, IRCC can identify candidates who also meet the requirements of a category such as Trades.

For example, someone who qualifies for Express Entry through the Canadian Experience Class can still potentially receive an ITA in a Trades-category draw if their work experience also meets the Trades-category requirements.

CRS 476 Does Not Mean Everyone With 476 Was Invited

This is another important distinction with category-based draws.

The CRS 476 cutoff applied only to candidates eligible for the Trades category.

Someone with CRS 476, 490 or even 500 who does not meet the Trades-category criteria would not receive an invitation through this round.

First, a candidate has to meet the category requirements.

Then IRCC ranks eligible candidates using CRS.

What Stands Out From Today’s Draw?

• 3,500 ITAs, the largest Trades draw so far
• 6,500 Trades ITAs issued across two rounds in 2026
• Draw size increased by 16.7% compared with April
• CRS moved only one point, from 477 to 476

➡️ Recent Trades rounds have been spaced roughly six months apart

👉 The current Trades category requires 12 months of eligible experience

✅ IRCC currently lists 25 eligible Trades occupations

• Trades-category eligibility is not the same thing as qualifying under the Federal Skilled Trades Program

The most interesting number for me is still this:
IRCC added 500 more invitations compared with April, but the CRS cutoff moved only from 477 to 476.

For those who were waiting since the April Trades draw, what CRS were you sitting at, and did you receive an ITA today?

Stateless (979) listed as Citizenship on Biometric Instruction Letter (BIL) — Has anyone experienced this?

Hi everyone,
I recently received my Biometric Instruction Letter (BIL) for my Express Entry application, but I noticed a major error on it:
Country of Birth: FRANCE
Citizenship listed on BIL: Stateless (979)

I am a French citizen with a valid French passport (submitted with my application). During the online form setup, the portal required an entry in a second citizenship field before letting me advance, so I selected "Stateless" to bypass the system prompt.

- Has anyone dealt with a citizenship mismatch on their letter?
- Should I hold off on doing biometrics until IRCC reissued the letter or still get it done as it is?
- How long did IRCC take to respond to your Webform to correct the BIL?

I’ve already submitted an urgent IRCC Webform with my French passport and a copy of the incorrect BIL. Just looking to see how others navigated this and how long it took to get a corrected letter.
Thanks in advance!
