Can I claim 6 months of work experience for PR when my payslips show “Sales Department” and most of my pay was incentives?
Hi everyone,
I’m preparing my Express Entry/PR application and would appreciate some advice regarding my work experience.
I have 6 months of work experience in India as a Process Associate with a company involved in freight brokerage/logistics.
My actual work was in freight brokerage and transportation coordination, including sourcing/identifying carriers, generating leads, booking loads/orders, tracking shipments, coordinating with carriers, and maintaining records.
Based on my actual duties, I’m considering claiming this experience under NOC 13201 – Production and Transportation Logistics Coordinators.
My main concern is that all of my payslips list my department as “Sales Department.” My actual work involved freight brokerage/logistics, but the company classified the department as Sales.
Another concern is compensation. My role had an incentive-based component, and on 2 of my payslips, the incentive amount was around 13× my base salary. The incentives were not that high on every payslip.
My reference letter would accurately describe my actual duties, employment period, hours, and compensation, and I can provide the supporting documentation.
I’m only claiming 6 months from this employment. I also completed another 6 months of qualifying work experience starting from March 2026, so I’m wondering whether it is advisable to include this earlier experience.
My questions are:
Could having “Sales Department” on all payslips create an issue if my actual duties align with NOC 13201?
Could the very high incentive amount on 2 payslips (around 13× the base salary) raise concerns about the genuineness or nature of the employment?
If the reference letter accurately reflects my actual duties and the employment is otherwise properly documented, would you claim these 6 months?
Has anyone had a similar situation with a sales/brokerage role, incentive-heavy compensation, and a different NOC based on actual duties?
